6. Opening up my heart

                     Stacey's p.o.v.

I walked into the house slowly, it took some time to convince Roy that I skipped a day of work because I wasn't well, at first he wasn't buying the story until he saw my arms, he seemed very concerned and sent me home earlier than the usual time.

"Lewis keep calm," Lizzy's voice came through the living room.

I quickly rushed in there and found Lewis on the ground, he was kneeling while Lizzy was standing next to him, his chest was rising and falling with each breath he took.

"What's wrong?" I asked seriously.

"He just came from the bedroom and began breathing heavily, I was trying to calm him down," she answered loudly.

I moved closer to him and knelt down beside him then held his hand in mine.

"Take it easy, breath calmly Lewis," I whispered.

He looked at me then pushed me away as I fell down.

He looked at me angrily then stood up and ran out of the room.

"Follow him now," I said loudly.

Lizzy quickly ran after him. I sat down and removed my phone from my handbag and dialed Dr. Jacob's line.

Lizzy came back holding Lewis by the hand.

"Take him upstairs to his room," I said softly.

"Okay boss," she answered then went with him out of the room.

I waited for Dr. Jacob to pick up the call but he didn't, I redialed it again and waited.

Lizzy walked into the room and sat on a couch.

"Boss, to be honest, I'm not comfortable to be with Lewis alone in the same house he's..."

"Lizzy again with this shit, are you serious right now?, If you want just avoid him, he is a part of us, he's now our family," I answered cutting her short.

"Stacey," Dr. Jacob answered.

"I am glad you picked up, how are you?" I asked Softly.

"I'm good thank you, I'm also happy that you called," he answered.

"I just want to say thank you Dr Jacob for taking care of my arms, I didn't really want to go to the clinic, you saved me," I said honestly.

"What nonsense are you saying, your parents had been part of my family even before you were born, taking care of you is not my duty but my responsibility," he answered.

I smiled then blushed, I was lucky that he wasn't around, he could have laughed at me. He was like a father to me.

"Um..., I have something to tell you," I said

"Okay I'm listening," he answered.

"Becky must have told you about it since she usually visits you, so there... Um..., I am living with that man I had brought from the hospital, it was a decision I made without thinking much about it since he has no memory I named him Lewis. At first, I thought that he was crazy, as in really mad, that's what Lizzy thought too because the man not only ate mud, he usually laughs and talks to his pillow or himself, he thinks it's his mother or father, he also thinks the shoe is a phone. He sometimes becomes violent, but what's surprising is that he sometimes behaves very well, he listens when I talk and he never demands for things. He even stopped my bleeding that time I was injured," I said.

He kept quiet for a few minutes then sighed loudly.

"I have heard all you have said dear, right now I can't tell you anything, but can you bring him to the hospital next week?" he asked.

"Excellent I will be there without fail," I answered happily.

"Excuse me then, I have some things to take care of," he said then disconnected the call before I could even reply.

I stood up and walked to my bedroom, when I entered I stood watching what was going on in surprise.

Lewis was jumping on my bed playfully.

"Lewis, please stop jumping on my bed," I said loudly.

He ignored me and continued to jump.

"Lewis," I called again but he couldn't even spare me a glance.

I kept quiet then thought of a great idea.

"Lewis, my heart pains," I said then deliberately fell down with my eyes closed.

Pretending to faint wasn't a bad idea, after all, I heard him jump off the bed and walk to me, he knelt beside me and shook my hand.

"You," he called loudly.

"You," he repeated still shaking me.

"Stac..y," he whispered with a cracking voice, I quickly opened my eyes and sat upright.

"Was that so hard to do?" I asked then kept quiet when I noticed his eyes were filled with tears.

"I'm sorry Lewis," I whispered then hugged him, he wrapped his arms around me and rested his head on my shoulder.

"Whatever your name is or whoever you are I'm sorry for whatever happened in your life, you seem to be a very good man," I said honestly then pulled back and faced him.

"I don't know why no one is looking for you," I whispered.

He slowly faced the ground.

"I will make sure you get better, and I would like you to know a little more about myself, my full names are Stacy mier, I'm an only child of my late parents, my father was a soldier who died in the war leaving me and my mom. My mother was very hard-working and self-motivated, to me she became both a mother and father figure, she took me to a great school and provided me with all I could ever want. I completed high school and went to college then I did business management and completed my course, on my graduation I was so happy and thought that nothing could take away my joy, but then I received bad knew from my mother, she had lung cancer and it was in the third stage, the news was so hard to take in. I was sad but tried to cheer her up every day, after a few months she passed away, by then I was hired by a very well known company and I was getting more than I thought I could ever get, her death was very painful so I had forced myself to focus on nothing but work after her burial, I then made sure that my pain was buried deep within my heart, I had no time for anybody. I even pushed Becky away. You see, Becky had been my best friend ever since high school, but having no family made me bitter and lonely," I said with tears.

"Stacy," he whispered then lifted his hand and wiped off my tears.

I smiled when he stood up.

"You better get in bed, it's late and I'm tired," I said.

He got on the bed and lay down.

"I will sleep in another spare bedroom," I answered then got up and walked out of the room.
