Chapter 2: Introduction to Eleina's Life

Eleina's POV

I let out a deep breath once the guy turns his back away and walks back inside the club, flawlessly. He is actually the most good looking guy I've seen in my entire life and as much as I hate to admit it earlier, he even saved me from that sick man who fooled me and told me that he is going offer me a job in Midnight Phantom Club!

But c'mon, who wouldn't accept that?! Midnight Phantom is the most successful and famous club in the whole country and damn, only rich people can enter that club. You're lucky even if you are just a janitor there at least you can see what it looks like inside. I bet the drinks and wines inside are made up of gold that only rich people can taste it.

But first of all, who could be that man?

He had those piercing gray eyes that can really melt my inside especially in the way he was looking at me. It is actually very obvious that he is trying to seduce me those eyes but believe me, I'm already used to people seducing me so I can warm their bed and I am not gonna be fooled by those anymore.

Darn, today has been a very rough day. I just want to sleep and call it a day. I walk towards home and since it's a busy street, I'm not really afraid of being pushed into a corner by a pervert man.

My home is just a simple apartment. Not too big or too small just enough.

I took my keys inside my pocket and unlocked my door.

I got into my apartment, and I saw my 5 year old daughter, Avery sleeping on the couch with her babysitter Vivian. They must have fallen asleep while watching TV because it is still on and it was tuned on cartoons. Quietly, I walk towards them and softly wake Vivian.

"Oh, Ms. Valentin" she scratched her eyes and yawned "I'm sorry I should have already put Avery in her room."

"No, no, it's fine." I told her with a smile and then reached for her pocket and gave her money for tonight and for watching my daughter. "You can go home now and have a rest. I'll carry Avery to her room."

She nods her head and stood up to get her bags then left my apartment. Vivian is only nineteen. Not too far from my age and she has been my daughter's babysitter for almost a year now. She will only babysit her in the evening where I can't look after Avery because I'm working at night.

And every morning, I'm working as a waitress in a restaurant and at that time, I don't need a babysitter because Avery has to go to school at 10am to 2pm but my shift ends at 4pm so she will be picked up by m y best friend who happens to have a daughter and she's Avery's  classmate. So by the time 4pm arrives, I will get her from my best friend's house then bring her home and then Vivian will come at 7pm to tutor her and of course to take care of her while I was out.

Actually, the reason why I wanted a new night job because I was fired from my last job which is a saleslady in a 24 hours boutique. Just because they found out that I have a daughter, they suddenly kicked me out! I didn't know that having a child will affect it.

That's why I'm praying that I will get accepted in Midnight Phantom Club because I really need a job. My salary as a waitress is not enough for me and my daughter to live a whole day. I don't want to live in a shitty apartment and I want my daughter to live in a place where she can be comfortable. So I can buy her everything she needs in school, clothing and foods. That is all I want, is for my daughter. That's the reason why I need to take two jobs for her to live a wonderful life unlike what I experienced when I was a kid.

I picked up Avery from the couch and carried her in my arms towards her bedroom as I carefully place her down. I grab her Shawn the sheep stuffed toy and tucked it beside her which she quickly cuddled once the soft texture felt her skin.

Leaning down, I kissed her on her forehead "I love you, my little Avery." I whispered before I left her room and went to the bathroom so I can finally have a nice warm bath. It is so disturbing that we don't have a bathroom connected to our bedroom.

But then, I've had enough for today so I think it's time to relax my mind. Once I changed into my pajamas, I quickly jumped onto my bed and covered my body with the blanket and let myself fall asleep.

THE NEXT MORNING, I woke up early like always to cook breakfast for me and Avery. Her class starts at 10 in the morning so it's better if I already cooked our meal before she could wake up. "Good morning, Momma!"

I heard my daughter coming out from her bedroom as she ran towards me. I went down on my knees as she wrapped both of her arms around my neck and hugged me very tightly. "Good morning, my little girl." I playfully mess her morning hair.

"What are you cooking?"

I stood up and started transferring the omelet that I'm cooking on a serving plate. "It's your favorite."

"Omelet!" she squealed cheerfully while clapping her hands.

I let out a small laugh as I placed the plate on the table and I helped Avery to sit on the chair because she's too small and can't even reach it. I put on a napkin on her top because she's a messy eater sometimes, gave her a fork and served her a glass of her milk. "Is it delicious?"

"YEP!" she answered happily as she started eating her meal and I sat down next to her so I can eat as well. After eating, I told her to get her things since I'll be walking her to her school.

I cleaned up all our dishes and wiped the table before I bathe Avery. I dried her up and helped her put on her uniform. I even tied her hair in a half ponytail since she had a very long light brown hair that goes down to her upper waist. "Go and ready your stuff, honey. I'll go just get something" I told her and placing a quick kiss on top of her head before I left her room as she arranged her stuffs.

I went back to my room then it's my turn to take a bath since I am going to my morning job in the restaurant. I was arranging my waitress uniform and about to grab a coat when something dropped on the floor. I picked it up and noticed that it was the green card that the handsome man gave me last night. He is giving me a job in Midnight Phantom tonight and I'm hesitating to believe someone again! But, the way he talked to me last night didn't give me that hesitation like I had with the lunatic man who fooled me. The man's eyes are full of seriousness and went inside the club! That means he is filthy rich!

Fine then, I'll give it a try.

I went to the bathroom and have my bath in a quick. After a few minutes, I'm done and went back to put on some clothes. I was near done and putting on some light makeup when my daughter shouted for me.

"Momma, I'm ready!" I heard Avery's voice outside my room.

"I'll be right there, dear." I told her and finished my make up before I head out of my room. Avery was already in her uniform and she's already holding her newly cute little pink back that I just bought last week.

She smiled excitedly at me "Let's go, Momma! You're getting grumpy and slow already!" she whined, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of our apartment.

I silently laugh at my daughter. She is always excited when it comes to school. Well, that's a good sign, right? I know that she is very smart in her class and made lots of friends but sometimes I worry. I hope she is not experiencing some bullying just like I did.

I've been bullied most of my life, since I was in kindergarten until I reached high school. That's why school was really a nightmare at my time. And I don't want Avery to experience such hardship like I did. I want him to achieve more than I did in my life.

She was holding my hand while we walking as she looked at everything that passed us, curiously. "Momma, can we go to the playground this weekend?" she shakes me hand as I looked down at her.

"Of course, sweetheart..." I answered "But why do you want to go to the playground?"

Avery shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. I just want to play" then she lets out a cute giggle making me laugh at her. "Are you working tonight again, Momma?"

I sigh and smiled at her "Yes, do you want something when I got back?"

She shook her head "None. Just get back home safely, okay?"

Her words always make my heart flatter. "Of course, my love...promises me that you will sleep early tonight and don't make Vivian angry."

"I never made Vivian angry. She is my best friend and she is very kind to me" she said.

Yes, I know Vivian is nice. She's young and I trust my daughter to her since Vivian is just like me. She's a teen Mom but our difference is that she has a husband that is helping her take care of their daughter. Fortunately, I haven't found anything wrong with Vivian. She hasn't stolen anything from me or hurt Avery unlike those evil babysitters that I heard in TV.

When we reached Avery's school, I was only allowed outside, I can't go inside. "Alright then, Aunt Martha will pick up later and I will pick you up in her apartment at 4, okay?" I went down to her level and kissed her forehead. "Be nice, alright?"

Avery smiled and nodded her head "Of course, Momma! I will study hard and make you proud!"

I laughed and pinched her tiny nose "You are already making me proud, my love" I told her and kissed her forehead once again "Get inside now. You don't want to be late"

"Okay! Bye, Momma!" she waved her hand to me before she entered the school's gate like everyone else. "Love you!" I heard her shout.

"Love you" I told her and can't help but grin happily.

"Avery seems to be in a good mood." I heard my pregnant best friend, Martha spoke behind me.

I chuckled and stood up straightl "Well, you know that child. Always happy and excited when it comes to school." I smiled, walking towards her.

"I'm glad that our daughters are best friends just like us" she stated as we walk out together. "Oh, did you find a new job?" She asked.

"Well, not yet but I'm trying to find a new one tonight." I replied looking at her. "Unlike you, I don't have a husband to count on so I have to work harder."

"Then why don't you go and marry Ivan? You know he can support you and your daughter even if you don't work. And so that  you can spend more time with her." She suggested, with a laugh and I just playfully pushed her aside.

Ivan Cole is my manager in the restaurant. He has been courting me and keeps on showing that he is interested in me for almost a few months now since I started working on the restaurant. I don't know if he just wants to get into my pants or he is really serious about me but...I just don't see him as a boyfriend or husband in my life. He is too childish for commitment.

And what he really wants is only me. Not Avery.

I remember this one time, he bought me some shoes and not only normal shoes but they are expensive shoes that came from London! And he didn't even give anything my daughter. Who wants to be with a guy like that?!

"I don't need a guy to fill me and my daughter's stomach, Martha. Just having Avery is enough. Who needs a man. I can raise her alone." I said, confidently while I walk towards work.

Martha smiled and shrugged. "Don't talk like that, my friend. Or you might just gonna take it back. You just don't know maybe you already met the guy for you and you just don't realize it. Fate is very playful when it comes to people like you."

"Tsk, haha. Thank you for the advice, Martha. But that's not my plan for now. Avery is my only priority for the mean time." I said, inhaling deeply.

Martha just chuckled and ruffled my hair. "Oh, I'll be going this way. See you later." She told me, as she was about to cross the high way while I still have to continue walking to reach the restaurant that I'm working.

"See you later" I told her then we parted ways.

Well, time to head to work now.
