Kaleb takes me home after the talk. He also promised me that he’ll pick me up and we’ll go to school together. I like the idea but I’m not sure if Cyrus will. He’s kind of overprotective towards us. Kaleb smiles and pats my head.

“Then let me know if he wants to talk to me. I’m ready anytime”

I smile and wave goodbye.

“So”

I turn to the direction to see Cyrus and Cloud waiting for me inside. I roll my eyes and enter the gate. “What?” Cyrus smiles while Cloud looks excited.

“You told him this but when I’m late because of a project, you just ignore it?” I ask.

Cloud uses his puppy eyes at me. He knows I can’t resist that.

Cyrus stands up and walks to me. “So tell us what’s going on”

I sigh, he is using that authoritarian tone again. We move to the living room to continue our “talk”. Cloud, as a child as he is, prepares popcorn for us to eat.

“What are these for?” I ask. He just smiles and sits across us.

Cyrus looks at me as he waits for me to spill the tea. I take a deep breath, “Kaleb and I are dating”

Cloud cheers in joy while Cyrus frowns.

“What?” I raised my eyebrow, “we’re dating. He confessed to me a while ago.”

He laughs, so loud that even Cloud stops cheering.

“What’s so funny?”

My older brother smirks. “You seriously think relationships are that easy? As easy as your counseling? It’s not that easy now that feelings are involved. You won’t be able to think logically”

I frown, I’ve helped tons of people by talking to them or helping them catch if their partner is cheating or not. There was even a time when I helped someone make their confession and all of these succeeded.

He pats my head. “And I know why he did it”

Cloud and I look at him in curiosity.

“I heard their parents talk about expanding the business and how it would make things easier if Kaleb and you end up together.” I frown, even if Kaleb already told me about it, it feels different coming from Cyrus.

“He told me that our parents know about it too” I reply in a small tone.

Cyrus raises his eyebrow, “you seriously think our parents want to force you into a relationship? Mom and dad believe in fate and all those mushy stuff about love.”

He did have a point but it’s Kaleb. He won’t lie to me, right?

I know I had to win this talk, even if I’m not required to.

“He likes me” I replied, making Cloud’s eyes sparkle but Cyrus seems not to buy it.

“Your choice sis. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you” He then stands up and leaves.

I don’t know why but I feel bad right now. Cloud moves closer to me and pats my shoulder.

“I don’t know what to say, sis. But maybe you should just be careful. After all, even if this won’t work, you will have the experience that you need to become a better counselor”

I frown, that’s not what I want. I want to date only one person and I will marry that person when the time comes, just like my parents. Maybe Kaleb is that person. Besides, out of all the guys who confessed to me, he’s the only one I know I can trust and has a bright future ahead.

Cloud and I turn to the popcorn and just chill in the living room while watching TV. After an hour, someone knocks on the door.

“Who could it be?” I ask as Cloud and I look through the window.

A car stops in front of our gate. Since it’s already late, we can’t see whose car is it.

“They’re here” Cyrus says as he goes down the stairs.

Cloud and I are dumbfounded as we follow Cyrus outside.

“Hey, everyone!”

The door opens and suddenly our parents are here.

It’s been 6 months since we last saw them. We usually just video call to catch up. I am speechless because I never thought I’ll see them this soon. I don’t know why but Cloud and I immediately run to our parents and hug them. Cyrus just smiles at us. “

Did you guys like the surprise?” My dad asks while we nod happily.

It turns out that Cyrus knew all along that our parents are coming back. He just decided to keep it a secret and surprise us. Mom and dad brought pizza and pasta for us to eat. “

How is everybody?” Mom asks as she puts pasta on my plate.

“Ciel has a small business” Cloud proudly says as he gets a slice of pizza.

My parents turn to me in surprise. “Well, Cyrus was the one who pushed me to do it.” I answer and turn to Cyrus to help me out.

He smirks, “I asked her to help my friend Eun about his relationship problem. She succeeded and since then she became a consultant”

My mom pats my shoulder proudly. “Wow, that’s very great, Ciel”

My dad raises an eyebrow, “but being a consultant is not easy. Most of the time, it requires experience. You haven’t dated anyone so how do you help these people?”

I bite my lip, “well, I’m about to get an experience now” The smile on their faces immediately disappear. I can see Cyrus smirk from afar. I bet he is enjoying this right now.

I sigh, “Kaleb and I are dating”

My dad looks at my mom who holds my hand. “Well, we’re really happy to hear that but we also have an announcement to make: we’re moving.”

I swear my heart sank after she said those words. Cloud then says. “Where are we going?”

I can’t sleep well tonight. The truth is, I am not a fan of changes which is why it is very difficult for me to take everything in. I am not ready to leave my school, my friends, and Kaleb.

“We’ll move to the province” My mom answers Cloud’s question.

“What about our school? I’ll be graduating in a month.” Cyrus asks.

Dad turns to him, “you’ll follow us there after graduation.”

I can’t help but frown. “Why is it too sudden? Can’t we just wait for Cyrus’ graduation?”

My mom holds my hand again. “We need to move this weekend.”

I can’t believe this. “What’s the rush?”

Mom and dad look at each other and turn to us. “Your grandparents want us to move there. Your grandpa is sick and he wants us to be there for them.”

Being grandpa’ s favorite, Cyrus stands up. “What’s happening?”

Dad walks to him and places his hand on Cyrus’ back, “nothing to be worried about. We will be living in the same subdivision as them. We don’t know when we’ll go back here so your dad and I enrolled you to the school nearby” Mom replies.

And that was it. We all agree to move since we’re talking about grandpa’s health here. But a part of me don’t want to leave.

The next day, Kaleb is waiting for me outside. “Good morning” he greets me from inside his car.

“Wow” I turn to see Cyrus and Cloud behind me.

Upon seeing my brothers, Kaleb immediately gets out of his car to greet us. “Good morning. I’m here to pick Ciel up.” I turn to Cyrus who is using his serious facial expression while Cloud smiles. “Have a great day you guys!”

Kaleb smiles at Cloud then turns to my older brother. “Take care of her.” Cyrus turns to me. “Tell Kaleb as early as now.”

I just nod while Kaleb watches as Cyrus and Cloud walk to the garage.

He looks at me, “tell me what?”

I fake a smile, “let’s go to school first”

On our way, I keep on thinking how to break the news to him. I mean, today is our first day and I don’t know what he’ll say. I’ve read and heard about long distance relationships but I never experienced it because hello I’ve never dated anyone before.

“So, what does Cyrus mean?” Kaleb asks as he drives.

I bite my lip, “We’re moving”

His eyes widen, “what?”

I sigh. “I’m sorry. My grandfather is sick and he wants us to be there. We can be try long distance or you can come with me---“ I was cut off when he suddenly stops the car.

“Ciel, I can’t go with you”

That’s what made Kaleb different from my dad. My dad would never say those words to my mom so I guess his feelings for me are not deep enough. I smile and holds his hand.

“I understand. We can just stop this.”

My parents never broke up but basing from my clients, break ups hurt a lot. It takes away all the good things in life and you would cry all day and night. Kaleb looks at me with disbelief and I can feel that he is hurt with what I did but I don’t feel anything.

He takes a deep breath and starts the car.

“Kaleb” I start.

He smiles, “I’ll take you to school, Ciel. I promised you that. I will continue doing it until your last day here”

That’s when I feel sad. Not because our one-day relationship just ended but because I know that deep inside, our friendship is over too.

Saying goodbye is not really my thing. Sophie runs to us after seeing us arrive at the same time. She looks at me as if she wants me to spill the tea but instead, I am about to give her bad news. She should be laughing right now, instead, she’s crying.

“Will you still visit me?” she asks while we hug.

I nod even if I’m not sure when I’ll come back. Kaleb, is true to his words, he waits for me and takes me home after school. Cloud is the one who announced that all consultations will be done online or phone.

I look at our house one last time. All our things are packed and we are ready to go. The trip will be for 3 hours. I will miss this place and the people. This is basically where I was born and grew up. I don’t know what will happen to our new place or our new school. I’m not even sure if I can continue being a relationship counselor. I sigh just thinking of what will happen next but I’m sure I’ll be fine, right?
