Chapter 3

Getting to the House, she walked straight into her room as she was tired. Her mother had gone to her place of work which means that she was the only one home.

She closed her eyes to rest a bit.

She heard her father's voice and got up. She smiled as she walked to the living room.

"Father!" She called smiling as she collected his bag.

Her father smiled and touched her hair.

"Where is your mother?" He asked.

"She isn't back, Dad." She answered.

She took his bag into his room then went to join her father.

"What will you like to have, father?" She asked putting her palm together and he smiled.

"Anything, Carl." He answered and she went in and came out minutes later with a bottle of apple drink and a glass cup.

She placed it on the table beside her father and sat on a couch beside the one her father was sitting.

When he was done drinking the bottle, Carl rose up and took the bottle back with the glass cup after which she walked to the living room to have her sit.

"Dad, how was your trip?" She asked when she noticed her father was relaxed.

"It was nice. I bought you something." He said dipping his hand into a polythene beside him.

"Wow, this is quite expensive." Carl said and her father smiled.

"I can get anything for you, Carl. You don't need to feel that I am spending much as I have abundant." He said and a smile crossed Carl's face.

"Thank you, Dad." She said and he smiled nodding his head.

"How is work at the office going?" He asked and Carl smiled.

"It's going great, Dad, but I am no more working there." Carl said and her father smiled.

"You got a new job offer?, How is your current boss to you?" Her father asked.

Carl began to laugh making her father confused.

Noticing the confuse look on her father's face, she decided to stop laughing.

"I am so sorry for that." She said and winked at her father. "I am my own boss now, Dad." She said.

"What do you mean?" Her father asked.

"I already started building my business since past two years and I have many workers under me." She said.

Her Dad smiled nodding his head and sat upright as he listened to his daughter.

"Wow, I am so proud of you, Carl." He said when she was done explaining herself.

"I am always going to make you proud, father." She said.

The door swung open and her mother walked in.

She smiled as she saw her husband and went to hug him.

"Welcome my love." She said placing a kiss on his lip.

Carl smiled and collected all that was with her mother and took it to the room.

While Carl was away, her father sat his wife down and started speaking to her.

"My daughter mentioned that she now bosses people." He said and she nodded her head.

They continued talking and his wife (Mrs. Robin) decided to let her husband know that Carl is planning on leaving them soon and will only be inviting them to her house later on.

While discussing about this, Carl stood by the wall side hearing their conversation.

"I would want her to get a boyfriend first before moving." Her father said and his wife nodded.

Carl who heard everything her parents said walked out and went to have her sit.

"Father, Mother, there is nothing to be scared of. I can get my boyfriend while I am away which I will introduce to you." She said.

Her mother looked at her husband.

"Please Dad, Please Mom. I do want you to agree." She pleaded.

They both looked at her and nodded.

"Alright." They both said and she smiled.

She got up and hugged both her father and mother.

"Thank you so much." She said.

"And may we know when you are planning to leave?" Her father asked and she smiled.

"In two weeks time." She said and they both nodded.

"I know you are both going to miss your only child. I will come one week later after organizing the house to invite you to my house." She said and they both smiled.

Mrs. Robin got up and made her way to the kitchen.

She looked at her husband as she didn't know if he had drank anything.

Noticing her mother's look, Carl hugged her.

" Mother, I know your worry but I have given him something to drink." She said and her mom smiled.

She left for the kitchen while Carl followed behind.

Getting to the kitchen, Mrs. Robin drank some water then relaxed a little.

Done relaxing, she opened a pot and poured in some fresh fish to the meal then closed the pot.

Minutes later, the pot started steaming and Mrs. Robin told her daughter to bring out a plate.

One of the maid came in and requested to help.

She served the food for her and took it out.

Carl wondered why the maid hadn't gone home just as the other maid had done when she came back.

She took in a deep breath as she walked to the living room.

After dropping the plate on the table in front of Mr. Robin, she walked back into the kitchen and cleared it.

Carl smiled remembering how her nanny took care of her when she was young but got another job when she was growing.

"I would like to take my leave." The maid said with her bow.

Carl immediately dipped her hand into her pocket and tipped the maid with 10 dollars.

The maid smiled bowing her head.

"Thank you very much." She said and folded the money.

She walked to the living room and bade the couples goodbye.

Minutes later, the couples looked at their daughter.

"Over here, Carl." Her father said and Carl walked over to had her sit on a couch.

"Carl, I always wish the best for you." Her father said. "Keep making us proud."

 "I will, father." Carl said.

"I called you here to discuss about your decision." He said.

"I know you want the best for me, father." Carl said and the couples nodded.

"I will advise you to be careful when you go to live away from us. I know you refused some good guys when you weren't ready to have a boyfriend and decided to stay away but presently you want to have one but you don't like those who are coming to you." Her father said.

" Yes Dad. " Carl said with a sad face. "The guys coming are married men and playboys."

"I will advise you to stay away from them and kept your mind up. Keep your mind on your work and do not think much. You shouldn't make a mistake in choosing the wrong boyfriend." Her father said.

 "Yes father." She said.

Her mother cleared her throat and they both looked at her.

"I would want your husband to be lovable like how your father is to me. He was my first boyfriend and now my husband. I want something like that for you. I would like for you to have only one boyfriend and then marry him." Mrs. Robin said.

"Mom, Dad, I really would love that also so I am going to be careful." She said.

"Alright, I trust you to do that." Her mother said.

Her father also nodded his head as he looked at his daughter who was going to leave the house in two weeks time.

"I only hope she is going to be fine after leaving us." He said within himself.

Carl got up to leave to the kitchen all alone.

She stopped as she remembered what happened to her when she was young which was the reason she was scared of touching the pot.

She had tried many times to let go of her fear but whenever she was about to touch the pot, she would remember how the fire litted up and she was about to fall.

Her nanny ran into the kitchen and she fell on her hand and didn't speak to anyone for two days after the incident.

No one told her about how the fire was put off.

She remembered how she was able to make herself enter the kitchen two years after the incident.

She walked into the kitchen and got herself some water to drink.

She took a deep breath and walked to the pot.

She touched the pot and remembered her scream when she was young.

She looked under the pot and saw that there was no fire under it.

She immediately left the pot and walked out as fast as possible.

Hours later, Mrs. Robin walked into the kitchen with Carl following her.

Carl brought out three plates but her mother told her that her father wasn't eating.

 "Alright Mom." She said.

She kept a plate back on the rack then their meal was served.

They took their meal out and ate.

After eating and drinking, Carl took the plates back then walked back to the living room.

After resting a bit, Mrs. Robin cleared her throat while her husband looked at her.

"I would like to ask you, Carl, if you have gotten yourself a worker who is going to cook for you?" She asked.

"Yes Mom. She will be coming after I have finished organizing my house with my other house help." Carl said.

 "Alright." Her mother said.

They spoke randomly for an hour before going to have their night rest.

In the room while laying on her bed, Carl thought on all what her parents had told her.

"I am going to bring out the best of me." She said then picked up her phone.

She turned on her data and replied some of her messages.

She laid on the bed and all she could think of was getting herself a boyfriend.

 Minutes later, she dozed off.
