Chapter 4

Victor yawned as he made instant oatmeal in the common room. He was silently humming to his music.

He had to make his way to the cafeteria at 10. He had to learn what to do. He sat down in the silent area as no college student would be up at this hour on a Saturday.

So when he was done he cleaned his dish and quietly went back to the dorm before leaving.

"You here for your first day?" A lady asked when he entered in the back.

He nodded, looking around. Other than the lady, he saw the guy he knocked into that day.

"So you will be helping Trevor here cleaning the dishes. Silverware goes in a separate dish, plates you stand sideways. After one is filled, you slide it and fill another. Trevor will be the one who puts them in the cleaner.

Any questions?" She asked.

"Um, no I think I understand."

"Well, if you have questions, you can call me. I'm Angela. You can also ask Trevor but he doesn't talk much."

Trevor seemed to glare at Angela but the lady just smiled. "Next week we can get you doing more stuff but this is usually what we start people on. Trevor will be the one who will tell you if he needs you to do something else."

"Okay." Victor smiled, putting his gloves on. "So, how do I open this gate?" He asked out loud.

Trevor walked over, pointing to a latch.

"Oh, thanks." Victor smiled and pulled the latch, pushing the gate up. He turned giving the okay sign to Trevor.

Trevor gave him a kind smile, the first one he saw from him, and gave him a thumbs up.

Cute.

Victor turned seeing students start shuffling in. It was easy going but soon the dishes piled up and so did Victor's anxiety.

He tried to keep up. He felt a poke on his arm. Victor looked over to see Trevor there.

He motioned with his head which Victor could assume meant move aside. He kept going but he was in awe how Trevor packed the tray.

After the huge wave of people, Victor turned to him, "Thanks." He said, helping Trevor push the trays towards the washer.

The boy hummed with a smile, pushing the trays through. Victor found himself smiling as he went back to his position.

It was smooth sailing with Trevor helping silently when there was a lot of plates but Victor found himself somehow enjoying the day.

He signed, stretching once he closed the gate. He decided to go over to help Trevor put the dishes in piles for the next day.

Though he noticed that Trevor was drying some. "Why are you drying them?"

Trevor pointed, showing that the plates were still wet. So, Victor concluded they didn't dry well and picked up a towel.

Trevor put his hand up as a sign that he didn't have to, but Victor shrugged.

"I don't mind drying a few. Besides this way we can both be done sooner."

It was quiet for a bit but Victor heard something from Trevor. "I'm sorry. What?"

Trevor's cheeks dusted a faint pink as he shook his head in a way to say nevermind.

"Okay then. You going back to your dorm?"

Trevor gave him a swift nod and Victor was out of the door. Or he would be if there wasn't a hand that gripped his wrist.

"What?" He asked.

Trevor pulled his hand up to show he still had his gloves on.

"Oh... thanks." Victor took the gloves off, properly disposing of them before the two headed out.

"So, since you help out in the cafeteria a lot... I'm guessing your a culinary student?" Victor decided to start a conversation.

Trevor nodded with a smile and motioned with his hand as a way to ask 'And you?'

"I'm a sports major. I want to be a volleyball coach or player. But I'm not the best player so I think I'll stick to a coach."

Trevor pouted.

It was silent as Victor didn't know what to say.

"So, do you want to be a chef or something?"

Trevor shrugged and took his phone out, giving it to him.

"What?"

Trevor pushed it more to him, making Victor wonder if he wants his number.

"You... want my number?" He asked, uncertain. Trevor gave him a small nod. "Sure." Victor added his number, texting his number so he had the contact.

"Here." Victor handed it to him.

Trevor took it, looking down and typing something. Victor heard his phone go off.

Now we can talk to eachother whenever.

Victor chuckled, "Yeah, sounds good. See you around?"

The taller waved with a smile, walking off as Victor went to his room.
