Chapter Three

PWTDS Chapter 3

ANTHONY POV

I watched as the hellhound continued to sniff around an empty parking lot in Brookland and I had to fight the urge to break something when it began to whimper. It hadn't found her. Angrily, I called it back into the device and stuffed it back in my bag. It was getting dark and I needed to find a place to stay anyway. I still had a lot of time to find her and I had spent a good two hours and a half running after the useless demon. I stripped away my invisibility and I found the main strip. I smirked to myself as human girls checked me out and I just kept walking. I didn't feel like messing with any of them tonight.

I walked past hotels and nothing caught my eye until I set my eyes on the Four Seasons Hotel. I walked in nonchalantly and made my way over to the counter. Everything was in perfect order and I could practically smell the money. The receptionist at the desk didn't noticed me until I cleared my throat and it didn't take long for her to gaze at me flirtatiously. She was at least in her mid-twenties and attractive.

"Hey, my name is Megan. What can I do for you?" She purred and gazed at me.

"I want your penthouse suite, please," I answered, bluntly.

"That has already been booked," she told me after she tapped into her computer. I leaned over the counter to touch her arm and she kind of jumped from my cold touch. I looked deep into her in her plain brown eyes.

"I want your penthouse suite," I repeated my voice dripping with persuasion and she got a blank stare. She typed a few more things into the computer and answered me.

"I changed everything and you are now able to go up into the penthouse. Have a nice stay."

She handed me the card key to my new place and I let go of her arm. She shook her head and came back to her senses, but before she could say anything I had already disappeared from her sight.

Humans are so easy to manipulate, I thought to myself and went over to the elevator. I pressed the button to the highest floor and I waited patiently. Maybe I'll enjoy my stay in this world for the time being.

Once I had made it to penthouse floor I quickly found my room. I swiped the key and walked in. It wasn’t bad at all. There was a living room with comfortable black leather couches and a TV. To the left was dining area and on the right was the modern kitchen. Then there was door to the bedroom with the king sized bed and the washroom with a large bathtub and shower. I was really going to like it here.

I threw my stuff onto the table and took out the ring. I walked over to a couch and settled in.

"Show me Clarissa Johnson of the dead," I whispered softly to the ring. I watched as it began to glow and then a picture developed in front of me. There she was, the girl I needed to hunt down and it seems she had found a place to stay. That will just make it slightly harder for me then, but not impossible, I thought. I murmured some more words to the ring and its glow disappeared. I placed it back on the table and got up. I felt hungry and I remembered whenever the dead visits the living they need what the living need. I made my way back to the elevator and returned downstairs to the lobby. I need to find the restaurant.

TATIANA POV

"Okay, this has been nice," Clarissa told me, laughing slightly.

"I know," I responded, smirking as we walked out of the small café. I led her to my red Ferrari and we both got in. Silence filled the car as I drove and I realized I really didn't know much about her.

"Clarissa, what school do you go to?" I asked.

“I ... don't really... Go to school, " she answered and shrugged.

"So, you're like home schooled?" I asked slightly confused.

"No and I don't... I don't have a home either," she told me and looked away.

"You can definitely stay with me and I'll get my dad to help get you enrolled into my university," I promised her. She turned to look at me and there was so much gratitude in her eyes.

"I don't know what to say besides thank you," she murmured and I just smiled.

I drove into my large driveway and parked. We got out and went back inside using my key.

"Miss Tatiana, your uniform is pressed and washed for your job," Linda told me the minute she saw me.

"Thanks, Linda," I replied. "Oh, by the way, this is my friend Clarissa and she's going to stay with me for a while."

"You are insanely rich and yet you're working?" Clarissa asked me, clearly confused as we walked up the stairs.

"This is my choice because I want to be capable to handle a job if the time came and I want the full experience of being a regular teen," I explained.

"I get it and I think that's really awesome," she told me and I was glad she thought so. My two best friends who weren't rich understood, but all the girls that I'm "friends" with, all scrunched up their noses.

"Thanks," I responded simply and went inside my room to quickly change. Once I had finished I touched up my makeup and grabbed my purse.

"Where do you work?" Clarissa asked me.

"At this super fancy five star hotel called Four Seasons," I answered and chuckled when she looked at me with her mouth open.

"That's not necessarily an average teen job," she told me, laughing.

"Trust me it's a lot harder," I responded and she shook her blonde hair like she didn't believe me.

"Whatever, there's a TV, computers and stuff so I'll be back in like four hours," I said to her and waved good bye.

“Okay, see you soon,” she called after me.

I climbed into my Ferrari and drove off to get to work. Once I got there I tied the little apron thing that held my pad and pen around my small waist.

“Good, Tatiana you're here, take tables one to thirteen please.” My boss told me as he walked by mumbling to himself.

I walked out and fixed my tight black top. Then I walked to the first table and placed a nice smile on my face. A few hours past and I had another hour before I was done. That’s when I spotted a really attractive guy. He had dark tousled hair and hazel eyes. He was tall and lean. He wore a plain black t shirt with tight ripped jeans. He didn't seem to care that he didn't fit in with the whole atmosphere and he completely ignored all the dirty looks he was receiving. My heart nearly stopped when I realized he was walking into my section.

“Leah!” I hissed and one of my best friends turned around. She had pink and black hair that was long and wavy. She has beautiful auburn eyes and she's tall and skinny. I met her in high school because she earned a scholarship for photography and fashion so, she isn't rich. Not too many people like her in my social circle because one she's poor and two she has her own style. We both managed to get a job here together.

“What Tatiana? I only have like three minutes,” she hissed back while her eyes were fleeting over her tables. She was always afraid she would lose her job so she worked her ass off every shift.

“Look at who just walked into my section,” I whispered and gestured towards the guy. Her eyes followed my hand and her eyebrows rose in appreciation.

“Damn, he's hot. Can I take your table?” She asked her eyes still glued to him.

“Yeah, right! In your dreams,” I whispered back. “Do I look okay?

“You look great. Go get him,” she encouraged and winked as she walked off. I adjusted my shirt and apron. I walked over with all the confidence I could muster.

“Hey, my name is Tatiana and I'll be your server today,” I said flashing him a smile as I placed a menu down. He nodded his acknowledgment.

“Can I get you anything to drink?” I asked and his eyes met mine. They were beautiful, except they seemed empty and cold.

“Water would be fine,” he answered with a deep voice.

“Al... alright,” I stuttered and walked off with a blush on my cheeks. What just happened? Usually I can keep my cool with guys.

I returned with his drink when my cheeks had cooled down. I wasn't about to let him control me and embarrass me. I would be calm, cool and collected. Just, forget about his amazing hazel eyes.

“Have you found anything you liked?” I asked and I watched him steadily through my lashes.

“Yeah, but I don't think I'm allowed to order her,” he answered smirking at me and I blushed at the remark. Maybe I just won't fight it anymore.

“How sweet, but maybe if you bought her a drink after her shift was done she might let you,” I answered nonchalantly and I smiled when he grinned, clearly impressed.

“I'll think about it, but until then I'll have the lasagna,” he told me and smiled with his perfect teeth.

I didn't return the smile or say anything. I just walked away, but on the inside I was kind of jumping up and down like a ten year old. It's been awhile since I've really met a guy that I was this attracted to. All the guys at my school were little rich boys who all looked the same and did all the same things. Although, there were some really nice guys, but I like them more as friends.

I tended the other tables until his order was up and I brought it to his table. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach and I tried to suppress them as much as I could.

“Enjoy your meal,” I said smiling as I set down his plate and turned to walk off to the next table.

“Wait!” he called after me and I stopped in my tracks. My heart beat accelerated and I slowly turned around to face him.

“Yeah?” I asked with my eyebrow raised slightly.

“Want to get a drink with me later? My treat,” he offered, smirking.

“I'm off in twenty minutes,” I responded, grinning.

ANTHONY POV

Twenty minutes later I was sitting at the bar with the most intriguing human girl I have ever met. I ordered each of us some shots and she crinkled her small nose.

“I don't do shots,” she stated.

“At least try it,” I urged.

“No thanks, and if you're not going to get me another drink I'll get one myself,” she answered back and she flagged down the bartender.

“What do you have for drinks?” she asked, in her sexy little voice.

“For you, something extra sweet and special,” the bartender responded clearly hitting on her and my eyes narrowed. She just smiled completely oblivious to it. “Make sure it has a kick to it.

“You don't do shots yet you still like alcohol,” I said as I turned my gaze onto her and she just smirked. “Isn't there a law about underage drinking?”.

She laughed and her smile was captivating. “The perks of working here and being known in the city,” she replied with a shrug.

Our drinks arrived and I downed the first shot. Meanwhile, she daintily sipped her drink and I had to smile at how cute she was.

“You know you never told me your name,” she said after a bit and she tilted her head slightly to the side. Her blue eyes were captivating. I was pretty sure I could stare at them all day.

“Anthony Lurken” I murmured. Shout out to my Dad’s humorous side by giving me a last name that sounds like lurking.

“I'm Tatiana Davey,” she told me and reached to shake my hand.

I laughed, “You're cute, did you know that?

“Oh, shut up!” She snapped and she rolled her eyes as she leaned away from me.

“What?” I asked, innocently.

“I'm tired of people telling me I'm cute just because of my height or my small hands. I'm eighteen and it would be nice if a guy could say hot or beautiful. Not cute! I'm not a doll,” she huffed and she crossed her arms. I smiled in amusement at her bitterness. I cupped her face softly and turned her head to face me. Her eyes were challenging and I dropped my hand.

“I said you were cute because I thought it would be out of line to say your beauty had captured my attention the minute I had walked into the restaurant,” I whispered, softly. Maybe, just maybe I would bring her up to my room. She could be the exception and if she buys this compliment then I know she's mine.

“Oh god, how many girls have bought that line?” she asked, bemused and unimpressed, but the pink that tinged her cheeks said otherwise.

“If I told you, you wouldn't believe me,” I answered smirking and her smile kind of dropped.

“Oh.

“What?” I asked worriedly.

“Nothing, I should have realized you’ve been with plenty of other girls,” she replied brushing her comment off.

“Well, you’ve probably been with a lot of guys,” I returned and she laughed.

“In which world? Because it’s definitely not this one. I’ve had one boyfriend,” She said as she bit her lip. I could tell she felt insecure about that fact.

“Guys are crazy if they haven’t been asking you out because you are the hottest and most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen,” I complimented using the words she wanted and she giggled.

“You’re making me blush.

"How long have you been working at this restaurant for?" I asked changing the subject and I was curious to find out more about this girl.

“Not long at all, but I guess it's better than nothing like most girls,” she answered, shrugging.

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused.

“Wait! You don't know who I am?” She asked, in disbelief.

“No... should I?” I answered, frowning.

“It doesn't matter, but I have to get going,” she told me and got up to leave. She reached for the pen on the counter and took my arm to scribble her number on it. Then I watched as she downed her drink and she turned to kiss me on the cheek. I stood there speechless and watched as she walked out.

I walked back into the lobby and I knew she had already left. I spotted a cute brunette checking me out and I walked over quickly. I needed to get Tatiana out of my mind.

“Hi there, can I offer to buy you a drink?” I asked smoothly and she excitedly agreed. Girls are so easy to manipulate I thought and I smirked as she downed all the shots I offered. Later on it wasn't hard to get her to join me upstairs. Pitiful, pitiful humans.
