Chapter 8: PROPHECY

Uncle and I didn't stay long in the garden before heading down the hall to the mortal's room.

We have to hurry because our guests will be here soon.
We certainly can't stop them from feasting on the mortal's body. If he dies, I will be totally gone in this world. I can't! I cannot abandon my mother and this kingdom! Other kingdoms will undoubtedly take advantage of this event!

"You go first, Vreihya!
I'll summon the majesty!" uncle exclaimed quickly. Uncle vanished into thin air before I could say anything. I rushed into his room and opened the door. The moon shone brightly on his body, which was lying on a large bed.

I clapped my hands twice and the plants in the room gradually lit up.
They served as a light to reduce the gloom of the surroundings.

I couldn't help but notice his serene face.
I couldn't help but notice his pale complexion. There is no time for me to be sorry about what I did. That is no longer an option. I'm sure he'll be even angrier when he wakes up. I can smell his fragrance even more now that I'm close to him. I was immediately concerned about how I would conceal his fragrant scent. I believe the guests will go insane as soon as they smell him.

My deep thought was cut short when I felt the presence of my uncle and queen mother at the big door.
They sped up and arrived at the foot of the bed, where the mortal lay.

"Mother?
What should we do?" I went right to the point and asked my mother. We must devise a quick solution. The sun was about to rise, signaling the arrival of our guests. And, as I mentioned before, this is the first time a mortal has set foot in our world, so how and where do we get an idea of what we can do?

"Maybe Macara knows something about this," my queen mother told me worriedly.

"We can no longer call Macara because the babaylan have to sleep in a long and silent slumber after they have performed a blood ritual," Uncle said immediately.
In our world, babaylan are not as powerful as us. The royal vampires are this world's most powerful rulers. When a babaylan performs a ritual in the presence of an extraordinary nobleman's blood, his or her strength decreases.

"Can you think of any other way to deal with this problem, Alonzo?
" mother asked quickly, indicating her desire for an answer. We locked our gaze on the mortal, who was still fast asleep on the big bed. I'm still trying to figure out how we're going to hide him. We can't take him out of the kingdom because the villagers will inhale him, causing even more havoc.

It occurred to me that bringing him here might not be such a good idea.
I've been telling mother about this for a long time, but the frequent occurrence of my illness is what prompted us to bring him here.

"What if we bring him back to his world?
" I suggested right away. The guests will not be able to smell him later if we bring him back.

"But the time here is different from their timeline Vreihya, the mortal must have been awake at those times.
I know his parents will not keep the agreement or will not be able to. He might do something to himself because he knows we will get him back," my queen mother quickly protested and justified.

It's extremely difficult to find an answer, especially if this is the first time this has occurred.
For as far as our own efforts can take us, we must all consider questions centered on "how."

For a few more minutes, we seemed to have our own worlds and ways of thinking, and we didn't want to speak first because we couldn't think properly.
I'm not sure why it occurred to me that if he was underground, would he still smell? Is it just me, or could that be the solution to our problem?

"Mother, will he still smell if we put him under the ground?
" I stupidly asked mother while I was still thinking deeply.

Uncle and mother both looked at me as if I was crazy with what I said, but they also fell silent for a few seconds and both of their emotions changed as if they believed what I was saying was possible.
I immediately gave a slight smile. You are truly twins because you sometimes perform the same actions.

When I asked my question, uncle blinked as if he remembered something.
Mother and I turned to face him and waited for him to say something.

"Do you remember when I gave you a pet puppy from the human world?
" he asked, and I quickly nodded because I remembered the puppy he was referring to very well.

Despite my fear of returning, we decided to take a tour of the human world when I was ten years old.
Uncle always encouraged me, and he was always there for me to make sure I was never afraid again.

On our journey, I came across a four-legged animal with a wagging tail.
I wasn't familiar with it at first, but I couldn't help but lift it in my arms when I saw how small it was.

Uncle told me that this animal is called a puppy, but when it grows up, it will become a large furry dog.
I remember being overjoyed, especially when he licked my fingers. I pleaded with uncle to bring him into our world, but he refused. After that we went home to our world but I never forgot the sight of that puppy.

I begged Uncle to get me a puppy until I was so frustrated with his refusal that the tree he had grown for a decade withered.
He forced me to revive it, but all I asked in return was for a pet puppy.

When he handed it to me, I was overjoyed.
I hid it in my room for a few days while uncle used magic to prevent the slaves from smelling the puppy's scent because the smell of their world was stuck to it. That magic, however, will only last when uncle is nearby.

He had to leave one day to attend his graduation ceremony from the academy of magic, which further enhanced his abilities.
He didn't tell me because he was in a hurry to leave.

When I entered my room that day, I was horrified to discover that my pet had died.
I saw one of our slaves holding my pet and sipping its blood. I was instantly frozen and full of rage. I noticed how weakly my pet closed its eyes. I was immediately dumbfounded, and at the same time, a large vein entered my room's window and wrapped around the slave's neck.

"Ack!
You-Your Majesty, I can't stop myself, the scent is making me hung-hungry," he mumbled as I tightened the veins' grip on his neck.

"ACK!
" he just moaned as he struggled to breathe. I didn't listen, and as a result of what happened, my heart is filled with hatred. He ran out of breath and died. I waved again, and another large root with an enormous flower entered the window. It opened its mouth immediately and swallowed the lifeless slave.

The roots vanished quickly from my room.
Devastated, I approached my pet, whom I already adored despite the fact that I had only known it for a few days. I knelt and lifted his lifeless body, but the smell of the mortal world clung to it even though it was lifeless.

When I felt something approaching, I immediately stood up.
I immediately recognized the presence of the other vampire slaves in our kingdom. They will most likely follow the scent of my pet.

I immediately ran to my room's veranda and jumped.
I was in the middle of the air when I was suddenly gripped by a large vein. I landed quickly on it, and it carefully lowered itself to the ground alongside me. I clutch my recently deceased pet.

I couldn't help but feel pain.
I was struck even more by the apparent haste of those approaching. In my haste, I couldn't think of anything else. I want to give my pet a proper resting place and don't want to see him devoured by vampire slaves. I took a look around my enormous garden.

I was taken aback when the previous root with the massive red flower approached me.
It unlocked itself. I immediately realized what it was trying to tell me. I was upset, but I placed my pet in its mouth. It told me that it would not eat my pet but would bury it beneath the ground and that it would stay inside a tree below while lying on a bed of flowers.

I couldn't stop the tears from falling.
I set it down and looked at its tiny body. The flower closed in a few seconds and returned to the ground. I was immediately depressed with grief, and its mortal scent has faded since then. I also lost the feeling that they were on their way. They seem to have lost the smell as well.

Uncle accompanied me relentlessly that day to ease my grief, but I no longer desired a pet from the mortal world.
Losing a beloved pet was painful.

"We can try what you did then Vreihya," uncle said immediately as we could already see the dawn in our room.
I nodded quickly because we couldn't stay here much longer. We need to do something.

"Uncle, lend him your power, there's no air underneath!
" I exclaimed quickly, and he nodded. I immediately felt the air coming into our room. The tiny leaves in the room began to be blown away by the wind. Our hair and clothes both catch pace with the movement of the wind in our room.

His body immediately rose from its supine position.
Uncle gestured again and all the air in the room entered the mortal's chest and gently placing him back to his bed.

"That air will last for many hours, Vreihya," uncle said immediately, and I just nodded at him before mother tapped him.

"We need to get ready for the guests, Alonzo," my mother said calmly.
Uncle agreed right away. Mother looked at me, a sliver of doubt in her eyes. I'm also skeptical, but this is the quickest solution so far.

They both quickly left the room.
Haist! Because of you, mortal, I have so many troubles. I didn't flake any longer, and at my signal, a humongous root rushed into my window. It gradually lifted the mortal. It quickly crawled down. I clung to it tightly, expecting that it would pull me down with it.

As we descended, it slowly laid the mortal body on the lawn.
I raised my hand, and a bed of green roots rose up on his back, surrounded by a small flower. I turned around and cupped my hands in the air.

I built another dome that was just the right size for us, and we were both inside.
The moonlight was blocked because we were surrounded by it, and it will also disappear as dawn breaks. I immediately applauded, and the roots in the dome began to light up.

This will be his resting place before I bury him.
I took a step forward and touched the dome. I stepped out as it opened. I turned to face my glowing dome. The massive veins immediately opened and emerged from beneath at my signal. It engulfed the round dome before being swallowed up by the earth.

I immediately felt the warmth of the sun.
I looked at where the dome had been as the surroundings lit up. It has vanished without a trace. The palace bell rang, signaling that the guests had arrived.

It's time for another long reckoning!
