Chapter 51

Vedant's wait was over. One of his wishes came true as he had been asking for it for a long time. As Sunday came, he did not wait a moment to drag his mother to a nearby park. He wanted to play. Play a lot like his age of kids used to do.

This time Anuradha did not hold back herself to come with her son which she rarely does. It was always her mother; Avantika used to take him out, only if he showed his tantrums. Today she shoved away her uneasiness around the crowd and went out with her son that gave her a new found happiness. While watching Vedant play along with other kids, she realized her mistake of forbidding her son's happiness.

Anuradha did not like her son getting into trouble, so she always kept him under her wings. Due to her fear of Vedant might be turned out to be like his father; Rakshit who was an infamous bad boy, that's why she kept him under her gaze. Sometimes she had even forgotten that he was a child and he wanted to play and make friends with other kids. Though he was a little naughty kid, it did not mean he had no right to enjoy his childhood. And that's what she had been doing for a while, and right now she regrets it. She made a mental note that she would take him often here.

Vedant ran towards her suddenly stopping playing with his new friends which he found here. He jumped on her lap without giving a notice that made her stumble.

"Ma, when are we going to papa's home? Is it big like that home where you used to work?" The question popped into his little head while he was playing that made him run into her arms.

"What?" Anuradha was taken aback by his question. "What did you just say?" She could guess he was going to ask something which would make her angry, nevertheless she wanted to know.

"I was asking about you when we were going to Papa's home." Vedant was enthusiastic today as his mother had taken him to the park and let him play, so he thought it was the right time to ask.

Anuradha pulled a little back to see his face and asked, "Who told you these things? We are not going anywhere. And one more thing, you have no papa. You have only Ma, and that's me. You get it?" She had decided before that she would not scold him today by seeing his smiling face, but this boy was no help.

Vedant jumped off her lap and faced her straight. "No, ma. I have a papa and his name is Rakshit Randhawa. And you know Ma, he loves me a lot and he loves you too..." He smiled widely. This boy was really affectionate towards his father.

"Vedant! Shut your mouth!" Anuradha stood up in anger. Her eyes wandered everywhere to make sure nobody was listening to their conversation.

She took a deep breath as calming herself before convincing her little son who was looking up to her. "Listen Ved, he is not your papa. Don't call him ever as your papa, because he is lying. He is taking advantage of your little heart, that's why he is putting a lot of lies in your head.

"No, papa won't lie to me. You are lying. Papa told me that a baby is made by a mother and father together and both mamma and papa are equal. So you are my mamma and he is my papa!" Vedant was getting angry about his mother who was accusing his father for nothing. Why could not she understand his father was a good man?

Anuradha's eyes widened in utter shock hearing him out. "Oh my god! What he has taught to my innocent baby! How dare he do such things to a kid? Sure that evil man has no sense. If I get him in my hands, I will strangle him to death." She wished him to get him in her hands, so that she could teach him a lesson for spoiling her innocent baby's mind.

As if her wish came true, she heard a male voice not from afar. "Yes, you can do that, Radha.

"Rakshit?" Anuradha wanted nothing but to break his legs for following them everywhere.

"Papa!" In the blink of an eye Vedant was in his dearest papa's hands.

"What are you doing here?" Anuradha wanted to give him a piece of her mind, thus he should stay away from them.

"To see my love!" Rakshit shrugged. His cockiness was irritating her to no end.

"My love? Who's your love?" She could not believe this man had no shame in his blood. For his son's sake he could not filter his mouth before spitting out anything.

"Of course! My son. Or who else?" Rakshit placed a kiss on Vedant's cheek before putting him down. He had a teasing smile when he looked at her. "Were you thinking about yourself, Radha?

"No! Why would I? And who the hell are you to me?" Anuradha was a little flushed because of his boldness.

"Radha, language. He is listening. Kids have the tendency to pick up the bad words easily. Don't you know that?" This time Rakshit's play mood had gone as his all concern related to Vedant.

"Oh really?" Anuradha smiled scornfully. "I haven't known that yet. Thanks for telling me. I will keep it in mind." Her face changed within a span of seconds to its previous state. "This is why you told your son such mature things? Huh?

Rakshit took a hold of Vedant's hand, before speaking, "So finally you agree that he is my son, right?

Anuradha was quite surprised with her own words. "I...umm...Ved, we are going." She held his other hand and tried to detach him from Rakshit.

"No, ma I want to stay here and want to play with Papa." Vedant clung to Rakshit, screaming. He trusted his father who would not let his mother take him away.

"No! You are going to do nothing like that." Anuradha was not thinking in her right mind as she was blinded to see the little boy. She wanted nothing but to make Rakshit suffer.

"Hey, Radha, what are you doing? Leave his hand at once!" Rakshit broke her tight hold on Vedant's hand.

Anuradha was furious. How dare he push her away from her son? "He is my son. I can do whatever I want to him. Who are you to stop me?

"His father! That's not enough to stop you from hurting him?" Rakshit did not realize when he raised his voice. He did not want to do it, but he could not help it when she deliberately forgot their son.

"What? Do you want to deny that I am his father? Go for it, Radha. You can only fool yourself, not everyone." Anuradha was too stunned to say anything while Vedant hid behind Rakshit.

Rakshit sighed. How could he convince her? "Accept it Radha, he is mine and you are--"

"No! I am not yours." Anuradha shouted not caring about her surroundings. It was too much for her to take in.

"Maybe you are not mine today, but you can't be sure about tomorrow." Rakshit was offended.

"Papa, what happens tomorrow?" Vedant peeked from behind.

"Tomorrow?" At first, Rakshit was clueless about what he asked then got it. He kneeled down to his level and held his chin. "Hey champ, papa was not talking about tomorrow. I mean that in the future we are all going to live together.

"Really?" Vedant literally jumped in happiness.

"You don't trust your, papa." Rakshit faked being hurt.

"I do papa. You are the best!" Vedant leaned him and kissed his cheeks.

Watching the duo, Anuradha could not help but feel jealous over Rakshit for stealing her son. She had been with him more than six years, yet this little devil chose his new father over her.

Vedant was Rakshit's son. He would choose his father's love over anything as he had been longing for it for years. Her conscience taunted her.

"Rakshit, you are giving him false hope. He is a child. He doesn't know what to take his heart." Anuradha interrupted them ruthlessly.

"I won't give false promises, Radha. I know how to make it real. If it comes to my baby and his mamma, I will go to any extent to make it real." His vow made her fear that it might indeed happen one day.

"You are going to break his heart at the end." She added to make him some sense.

"Then, please don't let it happen." Rakshit stood on his feet and turned to her with a pain in his tone. "Please let me be a part of your lives. I won't ask you much, just be a part that's enough for me to live." He requested through his eyes.

"Rakshit, please let us go. I don't want to create a scene here." Anuradha held Vedant's hand again to walk away from there.

"That's what I want to tell you too. Please don't create a scene." Rakshit looked around for a second to make her aware where they stood.

"What do you want? Why can't you just leave us alone?" Anuradha could care less about their surroundings when she had already lost her temper.

"You know what I want, Radha. It is my child and you that all I want, nothing else." He was begging her literally.

Anuradha did not wait for a second longer as she knew it would not end soon, if they began to fight each other. It was not the right time when Vedant was around. He would mistake her for sure and that was the last thing she wanted now.

Rakshit stood there watching them walking away from him. He did not stop her because he had no right to do so. She was tired of fighting with him and he was also tired of begging for her forgiveness. He was not used to anything like that, but he could not simply give up this time when he knew he was the only one at fault.
