How it all started

We have been having non-stop sex since we met. It was the whirlwind kind of relationship. Everything happened so fast. I just met him online when he posted that he was looking for someone that could be his eating buddy. I was skeptical at first, I mean there are a lot off serial killers who lure people with tempting offers and his offer was interesting. Before I sent him a message, I consulted my best friend first. I sent a screenshot of his post and sent it to my best friend for him to check.

“Don’t tell me you want his offer?” He asked.

“Yes, I guess so that’s why I wanted you to have a copy of his post just in case I go missing,” I jest.

“Gotcha.

“Wow, no protest whatsoever?

“Nah, I will just be waiting for your update. You always get out alive from your hook up encounters anyway.

“It’s not a hook-up. He will be my eating buddy. I mean, I haven’t really eaten a decent meal for weeks since I’m stuck here in my room having work.

“Yeah, “eating” buddy. You eat each other out. I think it should be a food buddy if it's the wholesome one.

“You perv. Eating buddy is a better term since we will just be eating in any place where there is good food.

“Meh, whatever floats your boat. See you next week anyway.

“See you indeed.

After receiving the approval of my best friend, I sent him a message right away. I was waiting anxiously since it’s the first time that I was the one who first approached someone online.

While I was finishing my task work-related, my phone beeped signaling a notification. I checked it and it was a reply coming from him. He said that he was glad that he saw my message. It’s funny that all the other messages he received really talked about sex. I guess my best friend was right. The “eating” buddy was taken out of context and we are the only ones who have the clean intention about that phrase.

I then replied with a laughing emoji and told him that I made a list of the top ten best restaurants in town. I honestly told him that I haven’t been in those places since I don’t really go out that much because of my work. I just saw their online advertisements and made research about them. I further informed him that I based my list on the price, the ambiance and the food quality. It's subject to change, I added.

“Let’s meet-up then. Let’s check out the places you wanted to go one by one.

“Gee, thanks! But do you have any allergies by the way or anything?

“Not an allergy but I am not just into seafood.

“I love seafood especially shrimps! Too bad. There’s a place in my list where they only serve seafood. We can skip that one then and just replace it with the one you like.

“Not a problem. See you.

“See you.

So, let me describe what I wore on our first meeting. By the way, I was just sporting a short bob haircut for my black hair. I am quite short in height but not petite since I am a bit overweight in the BMI chart but during that time, I can fit medium-sized clothing so it’s fine for me. Besides, my mom would feed me a ton of carbohydrate loaded food if she noticed that my cheeks are disappearing. So, yeah. I’m presentable, let’s leave it like that. Anyway, I bought a short dress recently which is above the knee. It’s from Korea so it looks like a school uniform. I do hope I didn’t stain any school’s reputation by wearing it. It’s a long sleeve with black and green large vintage crisscross pattern and the skirt part is black and is pleated. To match it, I wore light brown wedge shoes with a pair of knee socks.

I thought I was adorable to look at and I was about to head out when my mom stopped me.

“That’s a slutty outfit, wouldn’t you think?” she raised her eyebrows while looking at my skirt.

“Uh, I don’t think so. I am just trying this one if it fits me,” I answered casually.

“Well, you’re seeing someone?

“No mom, I will just hang out at the city center.

“Huh. Take care then.

“Thanks, mom. Love you.

I hurried going out and hailing a taxi cab before she changes her mind. It was funny how I felt nervous again asking for permission going out. It’s like I’m a teenager again.

It was all going well when I realized that I didn’t comprehend his last message well. My bad. I misunderstood our conversation the night before. He mentioned that we could go first to his place of choice and he said it’s near the school. He mentioned as well that they serve pasta and wings. The thing is, there’s also a place near my house where they serve chicken and pasta. Also, it’s near the school he mentioned. He didn’t specify that it’s the opposite of the school, literally. He just said near the school. Technicality aside, I know it was my fault but I would not budge. We were both waiting for each other for 15 minutes until I backtracked our messages and realized my error. Again, it’s my fault but I won’t admit it. Yeah, this meet up is going well.

“Where are you exactly?

“I’m here to the exact place you mentioned.

“I cannot see you, what are you wearing?

“How about you, what are you wearing?” I snapped back. Huh, now I realized how unapproachable I really am. Let's see if he still wants to meet up with me.

"I'm wearing a blue polo shirt and a yellowish-white pair of shorts."

Oh my. Is he doing his own laundry? Yellowish-white? I assume the original color was white. Shall I still meet him? Let's just do it. Here goes nothing.

"Okay. I'm sorry. Be there in a minute." I just typed and I felt that I was short of breath when I typed the word sorry. Yes, I am a girl full of pride.

I decided to take another cab since I don’t want to ruin my make-up. The definition of make-up for me, by the way, is applying baby powder on my face and putting on lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner. That’s it. I don’t want it to melt since I sweat easily if I walk.

There I saw him standing in front of the food place he mentioned. To be honest, I thought he looks old. Too old for my taste. I don’t want him to see me yet so I asked the driver to hail a few meters from where he is standing. This gives me the time to just walk past him if I don’t want to continue. He wouldn't notice me anyway since he doesn't have any picture of me and he's busy looking at his phone.

But as I was near him, he stopped looking at his phone and he raised his head and tried to look around. There, as I was two steps towards him, his gaze met mine. I froze for a bit but I maintained my composure and smiled, "Hello, Daniel I presume?"

He didn't answer. He just nodded. I still put up my jolly personality and invited him to go inside the restaurant. He then said something I did not expect, "I thought you were a boy."
