Chapter Twenty-Two: Moving

The mood of everyone involved in the move was festive and jolly. You could have sworn Christmas had already arrived. Truth is, there were about three more days before the said day.

However, the smile V had as he rose from his bed, fully naked, practically lit up his bedroom. His wolf was reflecting his inner joy with a wide open-mouthed grin while sitting up and just stretching his paws in the air as if he was conducting an orchestra.

And perhaps he was, since the Alpha’s heart was truly singing. Meanwhile, Siel had a content and blissful look in her eyes. Her small smile seemed to be permanently stuck to her face as she started packing her things. Nella had arrived early, and she could hear Siel feeding the children while removing what was in the fridge and taking out plates, glasses, cups, cutlery, pots, pans, and God knows what else.

Later, they brought out the children’s clothes and toys and prepped for the arrival of the company’s moving vans along with their staff. Even the boxes they needed would be provided by the moving division, according to Antoine, who said so when he brought them home the night before.

“That’s how committed and dependable the Silvercrest Transport Services Corporation is. I would know since I’m part of that company,” the good-looking driver/bodyguard proudly stated to his half-awake audience. “And we even have our own ambulances, medical vans, armored cars, and more!

Well, it seemed Nella didn’t want to him to stop talking. She continued their conversation the minute he arrived to take them to the new house as if they didn’t even say goodbye the night before. Antoine didn’t seem to mind and even helped the movers pack a lot of the kitchen and dining things while he continued to chat with the nanny.

As soon as the first truck was filled with boxes, Siel, Nella, and the excited twins entered Antoine’s limo and were soon on their way to the new house. Meanwhile, a man wearing the gray overalls with the moving company’s logo at the back, stepped out from behind one of the trucks while making a call…

“Sir. They’re on their way. The target has not yet arrived. Oh wait, I think this is him.

A black sedan parked behind one of the moving vans which was across the street. The light brown-haired male with the cellphone peeked at the car and easily identified the driver despite the dark tints of the vehicle.

“It is him, Sir. I’ll call you again later,” he mumbled into the phone as he ended the call. He then made his way to the man behind the wheel as the car’s window slowly opened.

“Uhhh Sir, I’m sorry, but you can’t park there. We need all the space just to maneuver or vans properly,” Aaron said in his most approachable and friendly tone.

The dark-haired driver smiled at the “mover” and answered in an overly sweet voice, “I’m sorry, but I was a bit late picking up my kids. I’m Jonah Stafford by the way. Looks like they’ve already left to go to the new house. They are moving, right?

“Oh, so you’re the father! I think I heard them mention you. Well, one of the trucks is about to leave. If you want, you can just follow it just so you don’t get lost. But you need to back up a bit. Just follow the truck that leaves, alright?

“Yep, thanks, dude! You’re awesome, by the way. So what company are you? Just want to leave you guys a good review on your social media page or website.

“Oh sure, here’s our company’s calling card. Thank you in advance, Sir. Oh, gotta take this call… bye, for now, Mr. Stafford.

As Aaron turned around, he smirked wickedly. There was no incoming call, but as soon as he’s a little farther away from the asshole’s car, he made an outgoing one.

“Alpha, the package has been delivered.

“Thank you, Beta. Feel free to go visit your mate. She’s already fixing up her new house, and I believe she needs you there. See you later.

“W-what… wait, did you and Ma’Heron talk…” The call ended abruptly. The Beta stared at his smartphone’s screen, his eyebrows rising.

How on earth did he know about me and Di?

Meanwhile, someone was angrily waiting for a certain CEO to pick up his call. He had already counted more than a dozen rings…

Then the call was dropped.

Jonah looked at the phone in disbelief, and then his emotions turned to fury in just a few seconds. He even threw his phone at the passenger’s seat and watched it slightly bounce on the upholstery.

How dare he… Just because he gave me that check doesn’t mean he can just do stuff with my ex without letting me know. I’ll show that damn animal… I’ll f**king show him who’s the real boss between us!

Suddenly he noticed that the van parked in front of the house had already started to move forward. He turned on his ignition and followed it from a few meters away. Later on, he increased the distance between them when he saw it slowing down in front of an impressive two-story property within an upper-tier residential subdivision.

After turning off his engine, he picked up his phone once again then speed-dialed a number…

“Yeah, boss?

“I need you to target a house tonight. I’ll send you the address later.

“You got it. Can’t wait, boss. And thanks! More money for us.

“Yes, but this time, feel free to take whatever you want. I’m giving you free rein!

“Thank you so much, V. There’s still a lot more to be done, but I can’t believe how much we finished today,” said Siel as she walked V out the door, slightly blushing as she secretly admired V’s bulging biceps.

Vince smiled at her. He had removed his t-shirt earlier to join the construction staff and was now replaced by a thin sleeveless undershirt and a towel draped over his shoulders. Roth teased him about flexing his muscles every now and then while he worked, but he was too busy showing off to his mate to tease Roth back.

He absolutely loved how adorable she looked whenever she would offhandedly glance at his muscles and then blush. And V would later admit to Roth that he was maximizing the chance of flaunting the more irresistible parts of his anatomy while he waited for his Beta to arrive with his Roadster.

“I wasn’t the only one who helped you, Elena. You had at least 20 other members of my staff who assisted us in fixing everything up. And even Di’s new boyfriend helped.

“Yes, I was quite surprised at how sudden she got herself into a relationship. I mean, so many men at work have tried to date her, but she wouldn’t even talk to them once she rejects their invitations to hang out. Your friend must be one special guy.

“He is, and speak of the devil…”

The CEO’s Roadster parked right in front of Siel’s front door and out stepped Aaron, wearing a sports shirt, dark jeans, and basketball shoes. He picked up a very large box of various hardware supplies from the passenger seat then looked up at the smiling pair in front of him.

“Thanks for letting me borrow your car, V. Since I rode with the last van, my car is still at your house, Ms. Camden.

“Call me Siel, please. Di and I are so close we’re practically sisters, so I think she will also want you to call me by my nickname.

“But V calls you Elena?

“My choice, Aaron,” V said with a warning glance.

“Oh, ok,” replied the younger man, grinning with hidden meaning. “Alright, thanks again, V. And nice meeting you, Siel.

As the Beta walked away, he had already sensed the presence of two burly brutes hiding in the high bushes near their future Luna’s newly acquired property. He felt satisfied that he had already dealt with the third one who was waiting in their van, so he just took note of the duos’ location and scent before he mindlinked his mate.

More thanks and a “friendly” hug later, V departed in his car while Siel watched him drive away. As she turned to enter her new home, she was unaware of the two bulky strangers who were about to jump her from behind…

And then, two large misshapen furry forms with claws and fangs suddenly moved, swiftly pulling the two baddies away from the pathway then dragging them through the higher hedges of the garden.

It took these creatures mere seconds to put their targets out like a light.

Siel was about to close the front door when she heard a short gasp and a muffled cry from outside. She opened the door wide to find out what was going on…

Nothing.

Shrugging her shoulders, she finally closed and locked the door.

Opal and Onyx huffed and whined in the darkness. One would think these humanoid wolves were actually laughing…

 And they were.
