Chapter Eighteen: Report

"I'm sorry it took me this long to give you my report, Alpha, but there were a few personal concerns that caused my delay."

"Sounds serious, Gamma. Wanna talk about it?"

"Not at the moment, but I believe you'll get to know soon enough. For now, let's focus on that man, Jonah."

"Let me guess, he got arrested for domestic violence, but the charges were dropped?"

"How did you know that?"

"He hit her again, and it was because she was with me. I got the full story of their marriage from her after that unfortunate incident."

A female voice quipped in, "Alpha, she also said that he forced her to tell him your number by threatening more bodily harm. I have the full report here in this folder."

"Thank you, Alexia. You were definitely the right choice for the job."

"My pleasure. By the way, V, this sudden 'remodeling' of your office suite…"

"Don't even ask, Doc. I'll talk about it during my next consultations. M, Antoine will be here in a minute with possible evidence of the burglary, but it may take a while to link Jonah to the incident. I was hoping you have more on this guy that we can use right now. I'd like to get back at him for that underhanded play he did to me."

"Well, I have found a few interesting things about him…"

"Show me."

She turned towards the corner where the Christmas tree was supposed to be standing and is met with totally vacant space.

Everything that was originally there had vanished!

Jonah was quick to conclude, "I betcha it's that boss of yours who did this. Maybe it's because you rejected him and told him you don't want to get gifts from him anymore. Yeah, that's right! I'm sure it's him!"

Nella, still carrying a sleeping baby Rose, snapped. "And how the hell did he get into the house, huh? The only people who have keys to the door is Siel and me!"

"Don't look at me. I was with you the whole day, Nella, except for that trip to the pub, and I got witnesses there. How could I possibly take that tree and those gifts when I was so far away?"

"Whoa, aren't we defensive now…"

Siel was near tears at this point and was just too tired to deal with any more disappointments. "Ok, you two, just stop. Can we just clean the twins up and put them to bed, Nella? And I would rather you don't stay, Jonah. I really am so tired, and I'd prefer to be alone right now."

"I don't know, Siel, I can stay and take care of you…"

"The same way you took care of her last night, you maniac? I don't think so!"

"PLEASE! Both of you… JUST STOP! I still have work tomorrow, and I need to clear my head!"

"You've gotta be kidding me! You still want to go back to work for that egotistical, lordly snob after what he did to you and me? Really?"

"I have no choice! I'm doing this because I want to give a good life to my kids, Jonah. Now please, you have to go!"

"If I give you the money to support you until you get a new job, will you leave that jerk's company?"

"Riiiight, how many times have we heard that line before?" yelled Nella from the twin's bedroom, where she was busy undressing the slumbering pair.

"I mean it this time, ok! Siel, please give me another chance…"

"Jonah, I can't decide now. Please, just go."

"But if I give you proof of my promise, then you'll consider it?"

"IF there is proof! Please… I need to rest. Just let me know when you want to see your children again, and then we can talk, alright?"

After Jonah's departure, Nella couldn't help but say what's on her mind. "I don't trust him, girl. Everything that happened today stinks up to the high heavens. And you shouldn't quit just because he said so! I mean, even that BS he said about your boss taking the tree and gifts back? I don't buy that!"

"Nell, I appreciate your concern, but I'm just thankful he didn't hit me tonight. Please let's leave it at that for now?"

The babysitter sighed as she picked up her bags since she's finished with her tasks and is about ready to leave. She then walked over to her friend, who was now hugging her knees as she sat in one of the living room armchairs. Nella gave her a swift hug around her shoulders and smiled.

"All I'm asking is that you think things over first before making any final decisions. I have a good feeling with V, and you know how I feel about Jonah. Just consider that too, since I've always been a good friend to you."

Siel hugged her babysitter's hips and murmured her thanks. She then watched as Nella walked out the doorway but then turned around before closing the front door behind her…

"Oh, and I've checked the whole house for anything missing and the only things stolen were V's presents with that Christmas Tree. And I don't believe that your boss took them back. I can feel it's someone else…"

"Hey, did you get to sell all the goodies I had you steal?" asked the man behind the wheel as he drove his Sedan towards the seedier part of town. He's always been so proud that he is capable of making calls while driving at top speed.

"Yeah, boss. Are you gonna get your share?"

"Yep, then I'm gonna treat you guys to hot meals, drinks, and sexy dames. I feel like celebrating our success!"

"Alright, boss. Same place?"

"Yup, but I'm gonna meet up with someone first. Don't start without me, you hear?"

V took his phone out from his chest pocket, "It's him. Good job with your analysis, Gamma. He really did contact me again."

One can almost swear that M was smiling, but his mobile hid all the evidence as he held it against his cheek, "Believe me, people like that will return even if it's just to gloat. Go on Alpha, take his call now."

"Hello…"

"Hey V, how's it hanging? Listen, I think we must be renegotiating our little business deal a while ago because I meant it when I said your check is not enough to pay me for my ex and our kids. They're worth much, much more than that!"

"And that means…"

"If you really want to pay for them, you have to add, oh I don't know… a couple more zeroes to that number."

V took a deep breath to control himself just so he doesn't end up crushing his new mobile phone, "Alright, where do you want to meet? And how sure am I that Elena won't be sneaking up behind us this time?"

"Tell you what, she's already at home, so why don't we meet somewhere in your building? That's one place you're sure she won't be visiting right now."

"And I know exactly where… I'll have my people bring you there once you arrive."

"Cool, will be there in half an hour. And V, just so you know, I've told my own people where I'm going, so if anything happens to me, she'll be the first to know."

Presumptuous prick… if I really wanted to kill you, I won't be doing it in my building, you stupid son of a bitch.

"Of course. I wouldn't do any such thing. Just drive up to valet parking. I'll have my people process everything, and then escort you to our meeting place."

"Got it. See you later, V!"

End of call…

Vince looked at his people, all staring at him since they had augmented hearing like him and had heard everything Jonah said. Their facial expression easily asked that one question that V easily read…

"We're meeting on the 22nd floor, Roderick's room… now your sister's office, Ma'Heron. That's the one place my mate would never enter inside this building. I think you already know about that, Alexia since it's in your report. So, just mindlink the details to your husband and Antoine while we prep for the asshole's arrival."

"Alright, and by the way Alpha, your phone conversation was fully heard and recorded by our contacts. They'll be monitoring everything from here on after."

* * *

The asshole wasn't on time, but he wasn't too late either.

Either way, V was ready to meet Jonah again, and this time he was well aware of what to do and how to handle the man. And he had a few tricks of his own this time.

The thing was, he also could smell the latest "event" that happened in Di's office and has now figured out what Ma'Heron's personal problem is.

He's truly happy for his Beta and the Gamma's sister, but he couldn't spare any attention to them right now. His Luna needed him more than ever, even if she didn't realize it yet.

Within a few minutes more, he had already smelled Jonah's Axe body spray from the SCIT Division entrance, along with Ma'Heron's natural scent. Eventually, there was a knock on the office door.

"Come in!"

The door opened, and the Gamma guided the smiling cunt inside. Jonah's grin was a triumphant one, and he made no effort to hide it. Meanwhile, V's slight smirk hid a multitude of wishes like how he wished to wring the guy's neck with his bare hands… or claw out his heart… or toss him out the window…

"So… V, let's cut to the chase. Where's my check?" Jonah asked the second he was seated.

"Before I do that, what will this 'exchange' give me?" inquired V, leaning forward from the executive chair behind the desk.

"Ahhh… I knew you're a crafty businessman, after all. I mean, you can hardly be this rich if you aren't cunning and a little underhanded. But sure, for the price I've told you, you can date Siel, and even spend time with my kids. But if you want something a little more permanent, like marriage and sending my kids to boarding school, then that will require a monthly stipend."

FUCKING HELL, V!

Roth, shush…

"Alright. How are you going to convince her to date me again, after the stunt you pulled at the pub?"

"Oh, that? Easy! I told you she'll always listen to me, right? I'll just order her to date you again, and also tell her not to quit her job."

"Quit her job? Why is she planning to?" asked V with one eyebrow raised.

"Well, since you took back the Christmas Tree and the gifts…"

"Pardon me, did you just say I TOOK BACK the Christmas tree and gifts? That never happened, I'm afraid."

"Oh, it's what she believes since it all disappeared when we got back to her house."

"What she believes or what you told her to believe?"

At this, Jonah laughed hysterically and then slammed an open palm on the table while pointing at him with the other, "YOU FINALLY GOT IT, DUDE! That's what I like about you. You're really sharp. But you can't fight me when it comes to her. I've trained her to always believe me and no one else. So even if you try to marry her, guess who she'll go back to in the end?"

V's eyes narrowed. "You're crazy, Jonah! She's only sticking with you because of how afraid she is that you'll take her babies from her. That she doesn't make as much as you, so the courts will favor you instead of her. But we both know that you're not fit to be a dad, and the twins will be in worse hands if they end up with you!"

"Oh yeah? How would you know…"

"Because you're the one who took the tree and the gifts, and you sold them, Jonah! You sold the very gifts that would have made them happy this Christmas! The very things you can't even promise to get for them, you took for yourself! WHAT KIND OF A HUSBAND OR FATHER IS THAT?!"

"YOU AIN'T GOT NO PROOF THAT IT'S ME! AND EVEN IF THAT'S THE CASE, THAT'S NONE OF YOUR F**KIN' BUSINESS BECAUSE THOSE KIDS ARE STILL MINE AND SIEL IS STILL MY BITCH NO MATTER HOW MANY RICH GUYS WILL TRY TO STEAL HER FROM ME!"

Vince was now standing, his eyes blazing fire. "WHAT THE

HELL DID YOU JUST CALL HER?!"

"DID I STUTTER? I SAID… SHE'S. MY. BITCH!"

A loud beastly roar erupted from V as he shifted in front of his hated rival.

Jonah took a few steps back as he watched the CEO's clothing getting shredded and the muscled shapeshifter finally transformed into his werewolf form. He's bigger than the usual werewolves too, stretching to almost 9 feet if he was standing straight, his black fur reflecting the bright office lights, while his sharp claws and fangs seemed longer and sharper than most.

The monstrous beast leaped from behind the desk and bulldozed through the man while pinning him to the wall with one claw. Jonah's body slammed into the concrete, and he would eventually have bruises for sure but V did not draw blood. He stood there fiercely panting with his fangs in full display, his pose and ferocity an imposing and frightening sight to most.

However, Jonah only chuckled as the bear-sized werewolf savagely snarled in his face…

"I knew it! You smelled just like those mangy mutts pretending to be powerful beasts when all you really do is scare and bully people. Well, guess what, I'm not afraid of you! And if you don't want me to tell Siel and the kids what you really are, you'll pay me that big fat check and still give me a stipend. You understand, monster?"

A long tension-filled silence gripped the room…

It took a while for V to simmer down enough to revert back to human form. It never bothered him to be naked around his pack members. It certainly fazed him less that he was showing off his sculpted and sinewy physique to the man he considered his undeserving competition.

Just so he knows who and what he's up against…

Without a stitch of clothing on, V wrote down the check with the extra zeroes and handed it to the blackmailer ex. He watched as the greedy male snickered gleefully at the amount and then placed it inside his jacket pocket.

"Nice doing business with you, V. Until next time…"

"Yes. And just remember, now that I'm officially paying you for the right to take care of them, if you do anything to her or the kids, I will make you pay, many times over. And it will be in blood, not dollars!"

"Yeah, and just remember too that if you do anything to me, I'll find a way for Siel to find out about your true nature and what you did to me. She will never ever forgive you for that and neither will the kids. So, keep your damn threats to yourself!"

V growled viciously as he slammed a fist hard onto the desk, cracking it right down the middle.

Jonah huffed indifferently, slamming the door hard as he stepped out of the room.

Meanwhile, just outside the room, the Gamma was seated in his sister's former office chair.

Looks like Di will have to request a new door and a new desk this time. But that's fine… we have what we need.

Ma'Heron's smile was now visible as he rechecked his recordings…
