Gran Matador #2

Lucia Del Fierro— the niece of Mr. Gregorio Del Fierro.

I smirked upon seeing my new name. Mr. Del Fierro will introduce me to the Condez as his niece. I will be funding the Condez Charity from now on. It was founded by Amon Condez which played a big role in winning his current position.

"Done, Gran Matador," Lizard declared. She brought the mirror in front of me.

I beheld my new look. Black hair with bangs, brown eyes and fair skin. It was far from my natural look: blonde hair, electric blue eyes and beige skin.

"Perfect," I remarked. "Thank you, Lizard."

Lizard, a codename, was an expertise in cosmetics. She can change my identity without undergoing surgical process— just a sprinkle of magical cosmetics to alter my appearance. This was prolly why it was always facile to disguise.

"Anything for you, Gran Matador. Best luck for your game," she said with a smirk.

I smirked at my own reflection. I can't wait to expose dirty tricks of the Condez. If they were good in camouflaging, I was better in displaying true colors.

We flew to Bohol with my private plane. It took us almost two hours before we finally met Gregorio Del Fierro. He invited us over in his house— in Panglao. It was where we will discuss his role for my show.

"How much do you know about Amon Condez?" I asked Greg as I was standing near his glass window while holding a glass wine.

"I know him since we were in elementary," he replied. "We were classmates back then. He was the son of Senator Asmodeus Condez III— the senate president last 1999."

I stretched my neck side to side. I took a sip of my wine then faced Greg. He was looking straight at me, waiting for my next move.

"Senator Asmodeus Condez III?" I mouthed and he nodded. "Isn't it he has his own issues too?"

"Yes, Lucia. But until now, it's still a mystery."

I blinked once and looked away. I took a sip of my red wine. Words were running inside my head, sprinting back and forth.

"Why it's still a mystery?" I asked and shifted my eyes on Greg.

"They are powerful, Lucia. Both in money and authority. People believed that the crime was done by the victim, some kind of suicide."

I glimpsed at my team. All their eyes were on me. I diverted my attention to Greg again who was also eyeing me.

"Justice nowadays can be bought by money, Lucia. The less powerful you are, the easier to dispatch you," he said.

I remained silent. I have known it for too long. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to expose unjust deeds and greedy intentions. Good thing I have wide connections with people. I'll just give them money and they will work like robots.

"Where is Amon now?" I asked.

"He's in Pandanon Island with his son Abbadon."

"What about his wife? The representative of 3rd district, isn't she?"

"Yes, Lucia. She's probably in Manila for work."

I pondered a bit. This family was indeed a politician. Bohol was bounteous but behind that tremendous image was a horrible secret never to be told in public.

Yet, I was Berreta Madrigal dela Costa who can do anything. In my power, I'll bring justice to Boholanos.

"Is Abbadon capable of running as Mayor?" I asked.

"We are still studying, Lucia. But you know, his father is influencial. They can manipulate people's mind."

My breathed sharply. I see. I should be working with him.

"Can you refer me to him?" I asked and took a glance from my people.

"As what, Lucia?"

I remained silent. I guzzled the remaining wine in my glass.

I was done with business. I already used that trick to the Rileys, Ferragnis, Tans and Mondragons and other powerful clans. This time, it would be challenging if I will enter the world I've never been to.

"To be his ally I supposed," I replied as I finally contemplated my plans.

"What do you mean?" His forehead creased.

"Secretary? Or his vice?"

"You don't have any strong evidence to offer, Lucia. What do you know about politics?"

"And what don't you know about me, Gregorio Del Fierro?" I mocked. "I am Berreta Madrigal."

He swallowed hard. I glanced at my people and smirked at them. They smiled back with the mark of a rogue.

"Okay," he finally said. I quickly eyed him. "But first, you have to know the complete background of the Condez. You have to work with them, specifically with Abbadon."

"I'll be counting on you, Greg. I need more people working under the Condez but my team will moil on that. Remember, I have connections. Don't you dare move against me," I warned.

His throat moved because he was threatened. He tugged his tux down and nodded at me.

"Noted, Lucia. If you need me, I'm just one call away," he said.

"Much better," I smirked.

After that, my team and I drove to Garcia-Hernandez. We bought a house and lot in baranggay East Canayaon. It was almost in the forest, just precise location to establish my plans.

"Why do you think Greg Del Fierro will help you, Gran Matador?" Spider asked as we settled down on our conference room inside the house we just bought.

"Fear," I replied shortly. "People who fear things are likely to do what superior want them to."

"What if he will betray you and will eventually expose your plans?" Squid asked.

I lit my cigarette and puffed it. I held the filter near the knuckles between my index and middle finger. Everyone was eyeing me like a crocodile waiting for its prey.

"I should know," I replied Squid as I espied her. "That would be interesting."

I have wild cards to play and cheat. I knew Greg too well that I could ruin his reputation with just one snap of a finger.

"Anyway, you better rest now. It's been a long day," I said. I puffed my cigarette again and stood up. "See you tomorrow."

I walked out and went to the operating room. My team had assembled all the necessary equipments for the operation. These were the upgraded technologies.

I powered them on. I waited couple of seconds until the monitors screened video footages of the entire house. I ran my laptop as well. Seconds later, a video footage played on the screen.

I settled down on my chair and leaned against the backrest. I watched the monitors like I was the most high. This was the advantage of technology. No need to do your job because it will work for you.

They always thought I have wide connections with people. Of course I was the modern octopus. I can mimic, change colors and poison. I have 9 metaphorical brains and most of all, I have tentacles to suck up. The only thing that I didn't have was the heart. It was long dead and I functioned with my brains alone.

My phone pinged, tracking me off from my trance. I glanced at its screen. Alexander's name was on it.

I picked up the phone and read Sandro's message.

Dracula:

I'm here, Gran Matador.

My lips curled into a ghost smile. I typed my reply and sent it to him.

Gran Matador:

I'm on my way.
