ONLY WEIRDOS

Seung Woo wondered how he got himself in such a situation as he glanced at the person sitting on his car's passenger seat.

The doctor turned to glare at him, "so how much will I be paid?"

"Paid?"

Seung Woo did not think of it, but it was apparent doctor Noh had no intention of doing volunteering work as her eyes became slits, "stop the car."

"What?" Seung, Woo yelled.

"I said stop the CAR," doctor Noh replied, tapping on the dashboard. In shock by the doctor's reaction, Seung Woo pulled up to the side of the curb.

"Listen, inspector Choi; I won't go and risk my life to help you capture some serial killer for zero Won, so before we go further, announce to me the color of my wons."

“Eh, ku-ge, ku,” Seung Woo stammered eyes darting.

"Listen," Dr. Noh said, grabbing his face sinking in her fingers on his cheeks and forcing open his jaw, giving him a fish like expression, "take your phone call whoever and tell me how much are you going to pay me?"

Seung Woo spent half an hour on the phone, what came out of it was a red ear and an amount which finally satisfied the doctor. The inspector hoped he would get something out of the collaboration as he even put his salary on the line while guaranteeing results.

Seung Woo gazed at her up and down; the woman did not seem a bit like the first time he met her. The doctor wore a black Saharan jacket with its sleeve rolled up, a white shirt, and black pants. She almost appeared like a professional, but above all, she had washed her hair.

Doctor Noh suddenly beat lashes, "do you find me attractive?"

"Mwo?

The man shook his head so violently it could have screwed off.

Doctor Noh tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, "what, you've been eyeing me from the corner of your eye for the last two minutes. I have the right to ask."

"Are you always this blunt?"

The doctor sat up, "Hey, we're working together; I can ask questions. We need to create some trust."

Trust.

The word sounded pretentious, and Dr. Noh's grin didn't reassure.

"I'll let you start; tell me about yourself," Seung Woo said as he turned the steering wheel.

"I'm a psychologist and a psychiatrist. I possess an MD, a PsyD, and other irrelevant diplomas. I love smoothies, apples, and I hate coffee, now you."

"I think you know more about me than myself."

Silence filled the car.

The doctor pushed back her seat, crossed her arms, and put her feet up on the dashboard.

"You're right; you can just shut up and drive."

Seung Woo tightened his grip on the steering wheel; he hated her.

They arrived at Yongsan police, as usual, the young lieutenant greeted Seung with a huge grin.

"Oy, what's your name," Dr. Noh asked the officer.

"Ehㅡ."

The officer's gaze switched from the doctor and Seung Woo.

"It's alright; she's a doctor, and she'll be collaborating with us," Seung Woo explained.

Reassured, the officer answered, "Lee Sung Min madame."

"Call me, Dr.Noh, come with us."

"What are you doing? Don't you see he is in service?" Seung Woo said, leaning to the doctor's ears.

"You need a team; Sung Min is perfect."

The doctor smiled at the young man who was already all smiles. A grin like Sung Min's was rare in the Seoul they lived in; what seemed reasonable before appeared odd in Stein's Seoul.

"He's a kid; you can't include a plain officer in this case."

Dr. Noh threw Seung Woo a dark stare, "follow us, Lee Sung Min Ssi."

The doctor roamed in every office, looking about as if she was searching for someone.

"Seung Woo, what are you doing here?" Jin Se Ra asked.

"Nugu?" Doctor Noh asked as she scanned Jin Se Ra from head to toe.

"Ah, Dr. Noh, officer Jin is one of my hoobaesㅡ."

"What's your name?"

"Jin Se Ra."

"Follow us," the doctor ordered.

The officer stared at Seung Woo, who gave a shrug of despair and followed the group.

Out of everyone in the team the doctor was making, Seung Woo did not wish Se Ra to join. The investigation was dangerous, and the inspector had no desire to be distracted by the cute officer. Once again, the doctor's choice left doors open for a discussion.

The four made their way into the corridor in a single file until doctor Noh stopped in front of an open office.

"I'm going to kill you kae saekki, do you hear me, detective Gwak Tak Hoon, you're no cop; you're scum."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm waiting," the detective said as he waved away the suspect pulled by two officers.

The doctor pointed in Gwak's direction, "him."

"What do you mean, him, Gwak? No way, anybody but him. The superintendent retrograded Gwak. There are still suspicions about him taking bribes," Seung Woo protested.

"He's perfect."

"Tell me how a bad cop is going to help catch Stein?"

"Only a wolf can whiff a wolf," Dr. Noh replied.

A few minutes later, they stood in the superintendent's office.

"Inspector Choi, are you serious?" The superintendent asked as he scanned the team of misfits, "can you step outside a minute? I need to talk to inspector Choi."

The group did as asked; their eyes darted as they suspiciously stared at each other; no one knew why the doctor gathered them. They had nothing in common, and none were trained for this kind of operation.

"Inspector Choi, what are you playing at? We accepted your suggestion to have a consultant even though we all know that profilers complicate and lead the police to dead ends. But this, I mean you have Gwak the lousy cop, Lee the door boy, and Jin Se Ra the station's mascot, these people aren't going to catch a serial killer.

"IㅡI trust in the doctor's judgment."

Seung Woo lied, but he had no choice. The game was already on.

"Do you know who that doctor is?"

"I-."

The superintendent grasped his head and slicked back his hair before stepping out from behind his desk, "doctor Noh is SPO's [Supreme Prosecutors Office] Noh Chang Won's daughter. You brought your boss' daughter into an investigation in which we are DROWNING," the superintendent yelled hands on hips before turning away.

"I'm sorry, sir, I didn't know. I can stop now."

"No-no-no, inspector, use your head if we take her away now the prosecutor's office will think we are hiding something. She's in your charge now; just make sure she doesn't get in the way."

The superintendent sighed, "we've got to catch him, you hear me, Seung Woo. I selected you because I know how bad you want Stein. You are not the only one putting your neck on the line; remember that."

"I won't fail you, sir."

Seung Woo lowered his head into a bow and left the room.
