Chapter 4

I stirred in my sleep and let out a moan as pain ripped through my whole body. I slowly peeled my eyes open and instantly shut them as the bright sunlight sent shock waves through my body.

What the hell?

It took me a few minutes to open my eyes slowly and adjust to the light. I leaned up slightly to see Caterina dosing off on a chair and I cleared my throat. She instantly sat up and her eyes flew open. When she saw it was me she visibly relaxed and offered me a soft smile.

"May I ask why you're sleeping at the foot of my bed?" I asked with raised brow.

"The alpha wanted to make sure you got these," She smiled and fished out a red tablet from her pocket and handed it to me. I just raised my brow at her questioningly.

She handed me water and I took the tablet without arguing seeing as my head had thrown an elephant stampede. The last thing I remember was going for breakfast then it's all a blur.

"Did it hurt?" She asked softly as she gazed at my neck.

"Did what hurt?" I ask wide eyed.

"Getting marked," She replied.

"Getting marked?-" I froze mid sentence as all the events of today came crashing down on me. Wait, was it even today?

"How long have I been out?" I ask her.

"2 days," She replied and my eye brows shot up.

Really?

'How are you feeling?' I heard a manly voice in my head. And I know exactly who it is.

'YOU!' I growled loudly in my head.

'How could you?! How dare you force the bond on me?! You are an unbearable idiot!' I snap.

'An idiot who took away your pain,' He replied.

Xavier... He thinks he took my pain away.

Well, maybe I didn't feel the unbearable pain when I thought about Xavier now but he still put me through this pain.

'And I'm sorry about that,' Adrian spoke loudly in my head.

'Stop eavesdropping on my thoughts, you creep!' I yell at him in my head before blocking him out as best as I could.

Great! Now he can hear all my thoughts and feel my emotions! And that's not the worst part, it's that this whole bond is one sided! I can't hear his thoughts and feel his emotions and he can feel everything I feel which makes me feel so revealed.

"Are you okay?" Caterina's voice snapped me out of my trance and I looked up at her.

"Yeah," I smiled.

A knock on the door interrupted us and Caterina's eyes widened. She quickly ran to my bathroom and locked it.

"Come in," I said in a hoarse voice and Dylan entered the room with a huge smile plastered on his face but then his face fell when he looked around my room.

"How are you feeling, Luna?" He asked.

"Better," I replied and leaned to my right side to get the water bottle. I took a sip and cleared my throat and turned back to Dylan.

"Well?" I asked.

"Was anyone here when you woke up?" He asked.

"Nope," I replied, if Caterina didn't want him to know, then I was going to rat her out.

"Here, have these before sleeping," He handed me a packet filled with silver medicines.

I raised my brow and he just shrugged.

"Could you shut the drapes?" I winced as I sat up.

"Sure," He walked over to my window and shut the drapes before turning around to face me.

"Well I have to go patrol the perimeter, but just let me know if anyone comes in," He smiled awkwardly.

"Yeah don't worry," I grinned at him. He just smiled before walking out of the room.

"He's gone! You can come out now!" I yelled so that Caterina could come out of my bathroom.

It didn't take me long to put two and two together. She slowly emerged from the bathroom and bit her lip as she looked around nervously.

"He's your mate," I stated.

"Yeah..." She trailed off.

"Why haven't you told him yet? And do tell me, you've been living in this pack for years now, I'm guessing, and that really doesn't explain how the two of you haven't crossed paths yet," I said, or more like asked with curiosity.

"Luna Clarissa was killed two years ago," She said and took a deep breath. She opened her mouth to continue but I cut her off.

"Was killed?" My eyes widened as I stared at her questioningly.

Her eyes widened and she looked like a deer caught in headlights.

"That's not my story to tell," She replied.

Why does everyone say that?!

"Anyway, Dylan had a girlfriend back then, she wasn't his mate and it killed me to see him with her but I made sure to never go too near him. When she died, Dylan changed, he became a play boy and has never been in a serious relationship and I don't know if he'll accept me," She gulped visibly and I felt bad for her.

"Caterina, you're an amazing, kind hearted woman and trust me, Dylan will accept you," I try to comfort her.

"How do you know?" She asked.

"Well, he did imply he was waiting for his mate," I replied.

"He did?" She asked in a surprised tone.

"Yeah, now run along so I can sleep," I grinned at her playfully so I could lighten up the mood.

"Alright," She smiles before walking off but stopped at the door.

"Luna, don't leave this pack, they need you and no matter how bad Alpha Adrian may seem; he's one of the best man I've ever met and trust me, he loves you," She said before walking out.

"Well he has a weird way of showing love," I mumbled to no one in particular.

I sighed and looked around the room.

My stupid mate is so.. stupid! Now that he has marked me, I really have the urge to see him but I will not give him that satisfaction. My hormones are all over the place. Just thinking about him makes my whole body tingle. This is not going to be easy. All I can think about is his perfect jaw line and his perfect stormy blue eyes.

I think I need a cold shower then I'll see what to do about that infuriating mate of mine.
