Chapter 14

Helena turns, finding Leandro, owner of the voice and apparently also the bouquet that is in his hands. He approaches, and the young woman notes that her ex-fiancé was holding a box of Helena’s favorite Swiss chocolates.

— Embarrassing… – whispers Lucia. She clears and then continues. — Yeah… I’m going to the station because… well, I went.

— What are you doing here, Leandro? - Ask Helena, serious, totally nailing the departure of Lucia.

—I’m here doing exactly what you said on the card. - Leandro responds by approaching, which automatically makes Helena take two steps in the opposite direction. He stops and then keeps saying: —Helena, I want to apologize for the things I told him… It was out of the mouth.

— Well, you said it was what you felt inside your heart. - Remembers Helena narrowing her eyes. - So I don’t understand why I had to forgive you... you were right.

—No, Helena, I was not. - Denies Leandro, shaking his head. He tries again an approach while explaining: — I was nervous about the wedding. I said those things without thinking…

—No, I said you were nervous… And you said you were tired of us. - Remembers Helena.

— I spoke without thinking... – Repeat, Leandro biting his lips.

—Only he didn’t speak without thinking, and we both know it.

— Lena...

—Leandro, I need to go. - Helena, speaking away from the boy.

— I’ll take you.

—No. - Helena refuses emphatically. — Thank you for the flowers…

—Please, I only wish for your forgiveness.

— And a ride would make us even? - Asks Helena, laughing.

—Of course not, Lena. But it would give me time to remind you that until a few days, we loved each other. I loved you.

—You know, it’s very hard to believe what you’re saying when I remember you said you didn’t love me.

— I know… it’s complicated. - Leandro starts, nervous. — Let me prove to you that we should be together… Please.

— Not today, Leandro. - Says Helena before turning.

— So when? - Asks Leandro, controlling not to go after the young woman.

Helena continues walking with the bouquet in her hands and Leandro’s response in her heart. She heads to the bus stop that is approaching. The blonde sits on one of the benches and then lets her mind navigate through time while leaning her head against the window. At heart, Leandro’s words moved Helena, although her wish was that someone else had spoken them...

— Bruno... – Whispers Helena while admiring the view of busy São Paulo.

Bouquets are beautiful, but make it very difficult to do activities that need to be done with them in your hands, for example, how to open the door to the apartment with the key. That’s what Helena thought when she struggled to open the door. You should have returned it to Leandro, think, while trying to push the door, with difficulty. She snorts and is even more outraged to find her mother and brother thrown on the living room sofa, completely ignoring her efforts with the roses that were about to be thrown on the floor.

— Good evening, people of this house! Could someone help me? - Asks Helena, nervous.

— Hi dear. - Says Regina, rising from the couch in a jump. She holds the roses with a broad smile as she asks: — Wow, roses, who sent?

— Bruno. - Mind Helena just to see the smile quickly come out of her mother’s face as contempt took the place. The blonde smiles and continues: — Lie, it was Leandro.

— Leandro? - Marcelo asks from the sofa.

— Well, I was also surprised. - Comments Helena, massaging her neck with her hands. — In fact, it surprised me when he appeared in the building.

— Wait, you’re talking about Leandro, your ex-fiancé? - Asks Marcelo, surprised. — What was he doing there?

—He went to do what every gentleman would do… apologize to his sister. - Regina answers in place of Helena, who puts a question mark on her forehead. — What is it?

—Mom, do you have anything to do with it? - Ask Helena, putting her hands on her waist.
— We need to expose these beauties.
- Release Regina by facing the roses.
— Mom.
- Calls Helena, watching her mother carry the roses towards the table. Regina then walks towards the kitchen, which makes her daughter ask: — What are you doing?

— Arranging the roses. Go for me, you’ll want to remember that moment. - Says Regina.

—What moment, Mom? - Helena asks, without understanding.

— The moment he asked for forgiveness, and you accepted Leandro back…

— I did not accept Leandro back. - Correct Helena, serious, surprising his mother. — And I did not forgive him… Because there is nothing to forgive.

—How so? - Asks Marcelo.

— Leandro was right, we were rushing… In fact; I don’t know if I loved him enough to get married.

— Daughter, you are confused. When Leandro shows you that he is the man of your life, you can be sure that all these thoughts will disappear with a stroke of magic.

— Is it? What if it’s not just thoughts? What if it’s our reality?

— Believe me, it is not. - Reinforces Regina. — Now rest, because tomorrow will be a new day, and who knows what surprises will come?

Helena did not sleep, but fell into a coma. She did not even have dinner right and went straight to bed where she fell asleep and had the most different dreams and all of them involving Bruno. Only Bruno… Some dreams were just memories of the days they were together in Parati. When Helena awoke, she noticed that she had slept so much that she was late, but the only thing she could ask herself was how could a boy who lived for a few days have marked her that way? She gets up from bed quickly, does her personal hygiene, and then gets ready for work. Helena leaves the room and notices animated voices coming from the living room , which the force walks there, meeting her excited mother talking to Leandro.

— What are you doing here? - Helena asks seriously.

—Good morning to you too, dear. - Says Regina as she pressed her lips, indicating that her daughter was being inappropriate with the boy.

— Good morning, Lena. - This is Leandro getting up from the couch and lifting yesterday’s candy box for his ex-fiancée. — I’m here because you forgot this yesterday.

—I did not forget. I just did not take. - Helena speaks without touching the box. — Look, I need to go, I’m very late…

—I’ll take you. - Propose Leandro once again.

— Better not. - Says Helena, walking towards the door.

— The daughter, don’t be like that. You yourself said that you are late… At least take the boy’s ride. - Asks Regina. — At least to make up for your delay less. Imagine what your boss will say… You haven’t even returned from your vacation and are already running late… It’s no good… Look, I doubt there’ll be a bus at this time of night…

—Okay. - Agree Helena, just to make her mother be silent. — I accept her ride.

—Great. - Says Leandro, walking behind Helena, who was practically in the elevator.  He approaches and then says: — It’s a Beginning.

— Beginning of what? - Helena asks, seriously.

— Beginning of something very special. - Responds Leandro, enigmatic.
