Chapter 10

Moments before...

Regina walked through the hall of the inn with her luggage when she watches Helena at the reception, which leaves her with a smile of satisfaction. Finally, they would return to São Paulo and Regina could again convince her daughter to resume the relationship with Leandro. Of course, Helena’s mother would still have to talk to the boy’s mother, but she saw this only as a mere detail in the middle of her plan to finally conquer a comfortable life. Augustus would undoubtedly die knowing that she and her daughter were very well installed in Ibirapuera. Regina could already imagine moving her body on the wide lawns of Ibirapuera Park. She is so cheerful in her thoughts that she does not even notice the approach of Helena, who does not seem very happy.

— What is it now, Helena? - Regina asks.

—Nothing…

—Did the check-out? I can not wait to be breathing the air of São Paulo.

— Breathing the polluted air of São Paulo, you mean? - Correct Helena by fitting her long, flowery dress.

— Funny, until a few days ago you did not complain about the air of São Paulo…

— Yes, but I had not yet had the opportunity to know this paradise here.

— Hum, nothing that is not found on the coast of São Paulo. - Belittles Regina wearing sunglasses.

—Where is Marcelo? - Helena asks, changing the subject.

—Marcelo by now must have done what you weren’t able to do.

It does not take long and Marcelo appears at the entrance of the inn waving to them, causing a squeeze in the heart of Helena. The blonde wonders what was Bruno’s reaction to Marcelo’s presence, what they talked about, and how it all ended. Did Bruno miss you too? This last question she knew would have no answer.

— Done. - Marcelo speaks.

—Great. - Release Regina, relieved. — How many cost us this bicycle clowning?

-Nothing.
He did not charge anything. - Says Marcelo facing the sister who is head down. - Well, the transport staff is already there. Let’s go?

-Sure! - Says Regina handing her bags to Marcelo. - Helena, go upstairs and get your bags. We meet in the car.

Helen’s brother and mother walk towards the street while Helena remains in the same place, action that did not go unnoticed by Regina who turns, serious:

—Come on, Helena. - Order Regina. — Go upstairs and get your bags.

— I’m sorry, Mom. - Ask Helena to stay still.

— How is it? - Asks Regina, arching her eyebrows. — Stop making fun of her. Go up and get your bags.

— I’m sorry, but I’m not going with you.

— Oh it is, and how will you do to stay here? - Questions his mother. — You just checked out.

—Yes, I did, but from your room. As well as rescheduled only your passage. - Reveals Helena, calmly. — I’m not going with you, and you can’t make me.

—All this because of a bike rack? - Regina questions with contempt.

— In this case, he is a cyclist. - Corrects Marcelo, receiving an angry look from his mother. — Just saying…

— It doesn’t matter what it is! - says Regina. — It is impossible for you to be like this in a few days that you met this man.

—Although he is a good reason... –Marcelo comments.

—I’m not staying because of Bruno, and at no time did I even mention him. - Helena replies. — I’m staying for myself. Mom, I need some time to think. I require some time to cool my hair, reorganize and prepare for my life in São Paulo. I need this trip for me and no one else.

— All right, then we’re all left. - Says Regina.

—No, you can go. I don’t want to disturb your life anymore. And as you made clear: you want to go back to São Paulo. I don’t want you standing here against your will.

— How many days do you need to think? - Asks Regina, angry.

—I will only stay until I complete the seven days. - Informs Helena. She holds her mother’s hand and continues: — Trust me, Mom.

— Just the fact that you ask me to trust you already causes me a burning in the stomach, an anguish in the chest and a headache. - Claims Regina putting her fingertips on her head.

—Well, then trust your teachings. Teachings that passed to me. - Asks Helena.

Regina narrows her eyes towards her daughter. None of that was what I expected, but if I were against it, I felt it could have a much worse effect, as it is now. What you have left is to be flexible.

— Okay. See you in five days. - Says Regina grudgingly. She kisses her daughter on the face and then says: — Carefully.

—Bye, sister. - Speaks Marcelo hugging his strong sister. He touches his lips in his sister’s ear and whispers: — Go after him.

— Come on, Marcelo. - Call Regina.

Mother and son walk towards the driver of the van that was already waiting for them. The driver helps with their bags, while Regina quickly enters the vehicle. She does not want to stay any longer in the city. Marcelo delivers the last bags and then enters the vehicle. All this being seen from afar by Helena. Then the vehicle leaves and suddenly appears the silhouette of Bruno, surprising the Blonde who walks towards him.

Helena opens her eyes slowly as she moves away from Bruno’s kiss, panting. She faces him smiling, while caressing the boy’s face without believing he is there. Bruno then opens his eyes, hoping that Helena was real and not just a dream.

They smile at each other and then Helena walks away a little more, holding the boy’s hand:

Seriously, what are you doing here?

— I came here to intercede for your departure. I did not think it was fair for you to leave because of me. - Explains Bruno awkwardly.

—Just for that? - Asks Helena, curious.

—Yes. And you? Why did you stay? - Asks Bruno.

— Ah… because I liked the city… By me. - She replies, serious. Then Helena smiles mischievously at Bruno and continues: — And also, because you owe me some cycling trips.

Just for that reason?

— Yes. - Helena answers.

— What about us? - Asks Bruno, curious.

—Us? What about us?

—Is there an “Us”?

— Do you want there to be an “Us”? - Asks Helena, biting her lips. For some reason, that conversation was leading him to something more serious with Bruno, which scares him a little.

— Maybe it’s too early to talk about us...–Bruno concludes, nervous.

—Or maybe we don’t need to talk about us. In fact, I prefer that we just live these days. - Helena speaks. — Okay?

— I’ll top anything with you, Helena, almost Albuquerque. - Bruno replies, pulling Helena back into his arms.

— So, what’s the next tour, Bruno, my tour guide? - Asks Helena touching Bruno’s breastplate.

—The next tour is on the roof of his mouth. - Bruno replies before kissing Helena again.
