Shaojun opened the tap and splashed as much water as he could on his face in the bathroom. The two men had a linked bathroom, and Nan Xi was lying on Shaojun's bed chuckling as he observed his friend through the open door of the bathroom. "Hehehe.."

"Had you enough?" Shaojun retorted, not finding the crash landing of the girl on him funny.

"I think she would be a good match for you," Nan Xi teased. "After all, you have never had a girlfriend before, and she may be a bit weird, but not bad looking at all."

Shaojun grimaced and cast an intense glare at his friend. "You're single too. Why don't you go for her instead?"

"Are you still mad about the incident earlier?"

Nan Xi could tell that his friend wasn't glad about the girl's clumsiness.

"She has to be Mu Xueyi, I don't know why she is putting up such a silly act!" he ranted. "Can't we just send her back?"

Nan Xi took out his smartphone and offered it to Shaojun in his outstretched palm. "Now, this is Mu Xueyi. She goes to Southern Gate University, and she's extremely popular and trendy. How can the girl outside even be close to her in looks? And look, she just posted this video live on Facebook.

Shaojun opened his eyes wider to notice what his friend said from Mu Xueyi's profile page. Mu Xueyi's real-time location was notable miles away from their city, and Nan Xi's words made absolute sense that they could not be the same person. Still, he was incredibly mad at the girl's antics and immaturity!

"I say we help her and then she goes on her way," Shaojun declared. "In just a few days here, she already created a mess out of the flat!"

"I'll get some freelance cleaning services to handle it," Nan Xi promised. He was the richer one out of the duo, being the elder son of a Chinese businessman from Taiwan. His father would often travel in and out of the country, hence leaving Nan Xi to live with Shaojun in the flat which he had purchased for Nanxi. Though Shaojun's parents were also well-to-do, they were not as wealthy as Nan Xi's.

"Very well, as you say then." Shaojun leant back on his bed. "What's the girl doing now?"

"I think she's stuck in the toilet. As usual." Nan Xi laughed. This girl was getting too adorable, and he would not wish to see her leave. Why allow her to leave, when she brought so much fun and laughter to their boring lives? Perhaps he could offer Shaojun to her as a peace offering, he thought, and laughed again to himself.

Shaojun groaned and opened the door to the living room to see how the girl was now drenched in water, appearing to be from the toilet bowl, after attempting to take a pee in the toilet. She never learnt, did she?

Rufeng looked embarrassed as she dashed into the storeroom where she was living in, and quickly brought out a clean outfit. Since most of the clothes she had were acquired from thrift stores or donated, they were often oversized, making her appear to have a wardrobe disaster! However, she wasn't sure why the outfit she had just put on was causing her an itch, and she scratched herself repeatedly upon contact of the material against her snowy white skin.

She heard a knock, and hurried to open the door. Previously, Nan Xi had coached her on how to turn the doorknobs of the doors. Given her training as a swordswoman and demon-slayer, she was adept in handling various mechanisms and weapons. This allowed her to absorb the new technology of the modern world quickly. Although in her time, the Qing Dynasty, there were more primitive gadgets which were often taken to the grave, to avoid them falling into the enemies' hands. During historical times, the Manchu imperial leaders of China were often perceived as the enemy, and many would prefer death over divulging their secrets to the Manchus.

However, this time she pulled on the door knob too hard, and she gasped in horror as the door knob on her side happened to fall off. She realized she had put in too much strength in turning the door knob, and stared at the loosened handle. Now, she was locked in, as she had locked the door from her side and the person on the other side would not be capable of opening it from his side.

"Are you okay in there?" Shaojun's voice was audible through the thin wall.

"What's up, Shaojun?" came her response, appearing slightly nervous.

"I... I just came to bring you a hair dryer, since your hair looked damp from all that toilet water," he told her, trying to be as kind and helpful as possible to their guest.

"What's a hair dryer?" she asked, and he instantly covered his face with his palm. The girl was hopeless.

"It's a device meant for drying hair and sometimes, clothes," he explained to her with a short version of the purpose of the hair dryer.

"Thank you, but I can manage." She didn't want to embarrass herself by telling him that she had broken the door handle, so she pretended she was tired by faking a yawn. "I'm tired. Please come by tomorrow!"

"As you wish."

She heard his footsteps clearly within the silence of the flat, and realized it had to be deep in the night for it to be so serene. How was she going to get out now? She looked about her and realized there was a window on the other side of the room. Now, if she could just open it, and she would be on her way out. She looked down and saw that the ground was far below! But she wasn't worried, because she could fly!

An hour passed, and her stomach rumbled. She was hungry in the middle of the night, and the only reason she could explain for it had been the meagre amount of food served on the plates for each meal; she was malnourished! She saw this the perfect reason for her to steal outside and scour some food from that standing huge box they called a refrigerator.

Committing from memory how she had seen the boys open the window for fresh air, she pushed open the window. She realized it required a little more energy to open compared to the windows of her time, and there was a particular hook of some kind that kept the windows secured shut. It didn't take her long to get it, since she was a fast learner and was extremely brilliant, coupled with her photographic memory. But it turned out that getting out was harder than she thought!

She pushed the window open as much as she could, and the cold breeze hit her in the face at full blast. She ignored it and inched her way out slowly, climbing backwards out of the gap. The ledge outside the window was alarmingly narrow, but she had acrobatic training in the past, and this didn't appear to daunt her the least bit. She balanced herself deftly and manoevred to the other side of the building, appearing outside another window that was slightly ajar, and widened the gap to climb through it.

As she lowered herself into the room, she almost gawked to realize that someone was sleeping on the bed and happened to be nude! Back then, in the Qing dynasty, it was considered unethical to do so, and even men would sleep fully clothed. Hence, it was the first time she had ever had her eyes on such a bizarre sight! She was engrossed by the magnificent view before her eyes that she stood motionless in the room, glued to the spot!

The man flipped about in his sleep and fortunately, his privates were sheltered from view by the gigantic bolster he was holding. But it was the first time she had seen such a masculine and toned body, and she was earnest to look at it a bit longer, forgetting her own ethics that had been taught to her since childhood.

She watched further as the man moaned in his sleep, and a name left his lips. "Qiaoyue..."

This was the first time she had heard this name, and she crept closer to watch him, focusing on his manly looks. Finally, she was taken aback to realize the sleeping man was no other than Yang Shaojun, and she distanced herself in a panic! How could she even find the man handsome earlier? How could she have been staring at his nude figure?

"Qiaoyue... Qiaoyue..." the man repeated in his sleep, and she stealthily made her way out of the room, before he woke up and noticed her.
