Tamed Desires

It is a beautiful, a day that would bring good things towards good people . The sun was up and the city was noisy. Kate a young lady of 27yrs old was exceptionally happy this morning, this is seen in her mood this morning. Regardless of all her worries, Kate felt the solution to her problems will be found today. She had taken her bath and was dressing up. She had a black leather skirt and a blue top, she styled her wig, which she has not used for a while now in the proper way it should be. She was humming out of happiness. She had her breakfast of tea and bread, picked up her handbag , wore her shoe and set out to start her day.
Kate entered a very big building and was directed to where she to go, inside the building she was directed to sit down and wait. Kate sat down in a nice cozy and air conditioned office waiting for her turn, she came for a job interview, an advert she saw on her way back from the hospital two weeks ago. As she was waiting her mind drifted off to her current situation and her worries about. Zika her son, has been ill for a long time now, the doctor said he has coronary heart disease. Kate has spent all her savings on Zika’s illness, she lost her last job because she was always absent from work so the director decided to fire her. Most of her time was spent with Zika because she was scared of what might happen if she isn’t around, besides she didn’t have the heart to leave her sick 5years old son alone. She was helped by Emma, her friend and colleague from work. Emma has been her life saver for long now, she has helped her settle some of her bills in the hospital and even buying of Zika’s drugs , she has been doing that. Sometimes Kate wonders what she has done to deserve such a friend.
Miss Kate! Miss Kate! This was what brought her back from her thoughts to the present.

“you can go in now, it’s your turn, the receptionist who has ushering people in told her.
”okay, thank you.”.
she got up and went inside, when she got in, she saw a well decorated office “the interior decorator must be a really good one “she thought. When she was done admiring the office room, she decided to look at the person in the room. She was captivated by the face she saw, she saw a neat and classy young man in his early 30s, the man’s face looked so smooth and properly cleaned. “This has to be the most handsome man I have seen” Kate thought in her heart.
”Madam, be seated.”
“Oh! His voice sounds so sweet in my ears, Kate kept on thinking in her heart.
”l have gone through your CV, you studied fine and applied art in school.”.
"Yes sir, Kate answered him still assessing him with her eyes.
”do you have any experience in office management?”
”no sir, my previous work is interior decoration but am willing to learn and put in my best sir, Kate assured .
“Well you see Madam, we don’t need people who are willing to learn because we are not willing to teach them, we need people with experience and unfortunately, you are not one of them. So see yourself out, so I can interview others.”
”please sir, I really need this job.”
”sorry ma, I can’t help you.”
 He pressed a bell and the receptionist entered.
“Show this woman the way out and call the next person for me.”
“Ma, please follow me.”
“Sir please am a fast learner, you won’t have problems with me, Kate kept on pleading with the man.
The man simply ignore her and continued what he was doing.
Kate followed the receptionist outside, outside the building she stood confused of what to do, this was her only hope of raising the money for the Zika’s next drugs and even hospital bills that has cumulated again. She couldn’t control herself and the pain she felt, she started crying outside, when she noticed that people were looking at her, she started walking back to the hospital.
“Zika, you need to get up and eat so you can take your drugs.”
“Leave me alone, I want my mummy.”
“Mummy will be back soon, please eat.”
“No, he snapped.
“Zika, do you want to make Aunty angry.”
“Am sorry Aunty Emma, I just want to see my mummy.”
“It’s okay my baby, don’t worry you will see mummy soon. But meanwhile you have to eat, so you will be able to take your drugs. Get up, let Aunty feed you.”
 The door opens and Kate enters.
Mummy!
“My baby, how are you doing, Kate asks Zika, checking his temperature.
“Mummy, am not feeling too good, my body is doing me somehow.”
“How do you feel, my baby?”
“Mummy I don’t know.”
 “He has refused to eat since morning, he didn’t even take his drugs, Emma informed Kate.
“Zika, why didn’t you eat, am trying hard to get money for the food and money, yet you refuse to take. Do you want to kill me, Zika.”
“Am sorry mummy, please don’t be sad.”
“Kate, it’s okay, take it easy on him.”
“Least I forget, the doctor came to look for you, Emma informs Kate.
“What did he say?”
 “He said you should come see him when you come back.”
“Alright I should go see him now, please Emma help me feed Zika. Zika please eat for mummy.” “Okay mummy I will.”
“Good boy, I will be right back.
Satisfied that Zika is eating, Kate rushed to see the doctor.
