Chapter Seven

I jerked up, gasping for air. My heart was pounding very fast as memories of what had happened flashed through my mind. I thought I was dead; strange things had happened ever since I encountered my death. I gradually removed myself from the past and focused on the present. I felt a sharp shooting pain streak across my forehead as I dragged my tired body to rest at the side of a large tree. I narrowed my eyes and looked around my surroundings.

The view was great, and the sunless sky covered the woods over the treetops, which created a canopy over my head.
The crimson and auburn foliage was a magnificent sight, as this was the season known as fall. There was a gentle breeze that was creating the single sound of rustling leaves. The leaves appeared as though they were dying to fall out of the tree and join their companions on the forest floor. Together with pine needles and other flora, the leaves formed a thick, springy carpet for me to walk upon.

"How did I end up here?
Who brought me here, and what is this place?" My mind earnestly sought answers to these questions, but I winced as the effort only worsened the headache.
Something had woken me up, but what?
Then I saw a soft blue light that seemed to be the shape of an eye as the tree created a subtle shadow that freaked me out.

"We've been searching for you for days.
" A feminine voice said my assumption was right as the blue-eyed girl, whose eyes were now brown, burst out from the dark side of the tree and came into view.

She was pale in complexion and her short black hair was bubbly as she ran towards me with concern written all over her face
"Did you just talk to me?
" I asked with a puzzled look.

She ignored my question, then I heard another voice shouting.

"Oh my goodness!
Aria! What happened to you?" I turned my head in the direction of the voice and gaped in awe.
She was beautiful, She walked quickly towards me, her green eyes showing nothing but concern and worry, She sat down beside me, pushing her silky long hair to the front

"Who are you?
" I asked, even though I had a vague feeling that these two young girls looked familiar. Still, I could not remember where I had met them.
"Aria, are you okay?
" She asked as she assessed my face with a broken look on her face

"You look horrible, Aria," the other girl said worriedly, and as if it had been timed, I felt pain in different parts of my body.
My clothes were torn in different places, my body was bruised to an unrecognized extent, and my clothes were stained with blood.

My eyes fell on my arm; it looked strange; although it was covered in wounds and dirt, it felt like I was looking at someone else's hand.
I touched my shoulder to be sure it was naturally attached to it; I also noticed that I had an olive skin complexion instead of pale skin; the color of my hair was a flamy red instead of black; and it was also longer than its usual length.

I lowered my eyes to study the rest of my body, The clothes I was currently wearing were not the same clothes that I was dressed in during my funeral
My legs seemed to be longer and slimmer than they were, my chest was a bit smaller than its usual size, and my hips were way more curvier.
I held out my hands carefully to feel my face and found out that it was more distinctive.

I used my hand to trace every inch of my face slowly, mesmerizing each sculptured feature.
My forehead was wider, and my face was more angled towards the chin, finishing at a point.
The girls looked at me with their mouths wide open like I had gone crazy, which I ignored because this face seemed to be the age of a young girl, maybe eighteen or nineteen years old, but she had a better physical appearance than me, and I was twenty-five years old.

"How old am I?
" I asked to be certain of my theory.
"You are nineteen, but who asked such silly questions at this age?
" the brown-eyed girls asked while looking at me like I had grown two horns on my heads

"We had better start moving before the Alpha gets pissed off," the two girls said as they tried to raise me carefully.

"How the hell did I change into this?
Was I reborn after the funeral?" I asked out loud, but the girls looked at each other, communicating with their eyes without saying anything.

It was so tiring to even stand up that  I felt lightheaded and almost lost my balance if not for the two girls that were holding me
"Careful, Aria," They both said as they both slowly placed my hands on their shoulders to avoid stretching my wounds
Suddenly, a bearable pain coursed through my head again.

"Ohh, this head has suffered too much," I murmured, shaking my head as if to wave off the pain.

"Huh, what did you say?
" The brown-eyed girl asked with curiosity, but then I had to hold my head tightly with my hands as the pain increased.
"Kyiv What is wrong with her?
"  The brown-eyed man panicked

"Aria, are you okay?
" She asked again, with a hint of fear
I fell to my knees as my vision became blurry, and the background faded.

"Aria!
" Someone shouted but I couldn't hear what the girls were saying and I screamed out due to the intense pain that I was going through
"Help!
" I cried out in tears, but my eyes were tightly closed as the pain became so severe that I felt my head would explode any minute from now.
While I was struggling with the pain, I began to have a clear view of what was happening, and the pain seemed to be subsiding.

Somehow, my spirit had passed through the tunnel of time and space and drifted into this younger body.

Suddenly, a blinding light shone brightly before me and a very beautiful woman appeared, Her beauty seemed to be unparalleled and unreal; she was shining in brightness with her long white hair.
She was wearing a long flowing white gown and a bright light surrounded me as well the moment she stretched forth her arms towards me

A huge ball of fire landed on my head, but surprisingly, it didn't burn—not even a strand of my hair.
It was soothing, and it calmed the raging storm in my head.
She was the epitome of beauty, with her long hair that was touching the floor and her glowing skin.
Her face was as bright as the moon and her voice was like the song of a sweet melody as she spoke

"I am the Moon Goddess, Goddess Selena, my child; you've been chosen for an unaccomplished mission," She said
"You are the Moon Goddess?
" I asked curiously but thoughtfully; no wonder her beauty was one of a kind
"Yes, my dear child," She answered politely, I looked at her with nothing but anger and hatred toward the woman who claimed to be the creator of werewolves

"How could she call me her child after making me go through all this suffering and pain," I thought to myself as I recalled the old memories of my life
"I know you've gone through a lot but you should also know that there are things we, immortal beings, can't change and that is called fate.
" The Goddess said, looking at me in self-pity

"I didn't ask you anything," I said in shock, Don't tell me that she could read my mind
"Yeah, you guessed right, I could read every one of my species, I could hear their thoughts in my head," She said, laughing when she looked at my face

"Are you here to take me back?
" I asked
"No, am not; you have a mission here on Earth," She answered

"But I am already dead," I said, still not understanding what she was trying to say
"You've been given a second chance to fulfill your fate," She said to me
"A chance..
" I was confused

"Yes and you have to fulfill it in this lifetime.
" She looked at me with a soft gaze
"Out of all wolf kinds, why me?
" I asked, still not getting what she was saying
"It's because you are special and the outcome of this  world depends on what you choose.
" She said this and continued when she saw that I had nothing to say because I was still confused

"But before you can fulfill your mission on earth, you  would have to fight to win the pure love of  your mate's heart," She said
"My mate is already dead," I said to her
"You will only find out the truth at the right time but remember,  you are not allowed to tell him who you are or you will never see him again.
" She said and looked at me to be sure I was attentively listening to her and I nodded my head in response

Then she continued, "You've been given a second chance; use it wisely, dear child.
" She smiled, looking at me with those tender eyes of hers that made every question and anger that was brewing in me fade, and soon enough, I felt the calming aura she exuded.

The large ball of fire entered my body.
It glowed for a split second before it formed with the blood that was spurting out of my wounds.
"You've suffered a lot but the journey has just begun, You will wake up to a new world full of confusion.
" She sighed with a sad face as she kissed my forehead and disappeared
