CHAPTER 4

The Interview

He stared right at me and I barely managed to conceal a gasp. He had a phone raised to his ear and a very unreadable expression on his too handsome face.

"Yes. Get the car ready. No...not at Henry's." His voice was raspy and very male as he spoke on the phone, he had a kind of voice that made one feel warm from inside out, but those eyes, they were so cold as they stared at me. "Get it done." He hung up.

"Mr Sy." I blurted in a very squeaky voice and smiled like a silly girl. Screw me.

"Ms. Fontera." He nodded and stood up. His muscles flexing under the form fitting navy blue suit he was wearing, which made him look darn sexy.

He walks towards the floor to ceiling window which looked out on the small houses outside. "You have 15 minutes, Miss. Fontera so I suggest you make it fast." He sounded bored as he gazed out of the window. Arrogant man. He didn't recognize me. I quenched my disappointment.

"I would take your suggestion Mr. Sy." I said plainly.

He turned his head a little and I could tell he was smirking. "Well then sit down." He whispered, quiet amused.

I looked at the chairs and then at him standing tall and strong. It didn't feel okay to sit down. It would be too intimidating. So I kept standing and took out my cell from my bag. I opened the email from Mr. Henderson, looking at the questions I was supposed to ask him.

This interview was important to our magazine as this man standing in front of me was a very important fellow and many people wanted to know about his personal life, which would mean more readers for the magazine. I had to succeed.

"Mr Sy. I would like to ask you some questions for our magazine. And I—"

He cutt me off with. "Just get the questions. Miss. Fontera." He turned towards me and I clenched my jaw. He was too handsome and too arrogant and, and I didn't like him!

"Okay. There is some speculation that you are dating Gloria Reed and my question is that are you really? Dating her? I mean." I wondered if it was too direct, and then smiled. He deserved it for being so mysterious.

Gloria Reed the half Philam supermodel who was also his brand ambassador, was seen almost everywhere with him.

He just laughed and walked closer towards where I was standing. "You talk too fast Miss. Fontera. Next question." He didn't even answer. I gritted my teeth and read the next question in a flat tone of voice.

"You fund SMILE the organization which helps poor people in the undeveloped parts of the world. What are your thoughts behind this charity?" His broad and muscular back stiffened, turning to face me.

He donated 34% of his money each year to this organization. And he also did a lot of charity like that, he was a very complicated man. I couldn't believe this cold and and unreadable man was capable of charity.

He looked away and his eyes grew shuttered. "Miss. Fontera. When I donate my money for the people who need it, my only thoughts are that no one should die of hunger." He whispered softly still staring away.

I was shocked to see him vulnerable. He seemed a bit unguarded and I remained silent. "You don't know how many people out there die everyday because of hunger, those people are just like you and me, the only difference is that they don't have money and we do." He looked at me and his eyes looked haunted.

I couldn't help but stare at his beautiful face. He was a good person at heart. I could see it in his eyes. He had a mask on for everyone, but inside he was someone else. Someone good.

I moved towards on him and lifted my hand to touch his, but then thought better of it. "Mr. Sy?" I whispered instead. He looked at me staring into my eyes and the shook his head. A lock of dark black hair falling on his brows.

He shoved his hand in his hair and sighed. "I am sorry Miss. Fontera. Can we do this some other day? I have somewhere to go." He said, looking anywhere but at me.

"But Mr. Sy—"

"You can call me Royce."

With that he charged out of the office and I followed behind him. "Cancel all my meetings for today. Allison." He said to his secreatary and stepped inside the lift, I tried to follow him but the doors started to close. "Miss. Fontera." He said and I stared in those night blue eyes as his handsome face disappeared behind the lift doors.

I stood staring at the closed doors of the lift like an idiot. "Is he always like that?" I asked Allison.

She looked hesitantly at the lift and then shook her head. "No. This was a first."

I walked slowly out of the building after some time. It didn't go well. I failed. I only got to ask 2 questions out of which only one he answered. I was not the one who screwed this up, I thought grimly. I recalled what he said. I am sorry Miss. Fontera. Can we do this some other day? I have somewhere to go. He would give me another time day for the interview.

I still have an opportunity to make this work. I better not screw it up the next time. I won't. I vowed as I got into a taxi.
