6.2 - Watching Over

[BRENT]

"Bro, you're only making us look like stalkers here. If you want to follow Margaret, then don't drag me with it, okay? I still haven't dreamed of facing your enemy's wrath, you know?"

I just looked at Neilson incredulously but it ended there. "Just stop complaining. I only need a company and you're the only one who could be that person for now. Just let me, okay?"

After that, I watched Margaret walked away with Mayu. I didn't know what came into my mind and I thought of acting like a stalker towards Margaret. But that amazon girl's actions that morning had really bugged me and intrigued me to some extent.

How could those beautiful chocolate brown eyes held that kind of sadness and pain? Yes, I admitted that her eyes were really beautiful. But that wasn't the real issue here.

Why did I see those emotions in Margaret's eyes? Even her temperament couldn't even hide those emotions. Had she been hiding it all this time? What was the reason for me to notice the heavy atmosphere from those cousins as soon as Neilson and I entered the room this morning?

Heck! What kind of day was this? I had a lot of questions that I wanted to find answers soon.

"Sorry, bro. I even included you in this one," I said to Neilson out of the blue when I decided not to follow Margaret anymore.

I heard Neilson chuckle that made me look at my twin brother. Neilson had this gentle expression on his face as he peered at me.

"Why can't you even admit that you're worried about her? That even though the two of you can recreate the 2nd World War as soon as your paths would cross, you can't deny that she's one of those that completes your day."

I remained silent since I don't have anything to admit.

Okay, scratch that. I admitted I was worried— but only a little. Maybe around... 15 to 20%?

'In other words, you're still worried no matter how small the percentage. Besides, 20% is not a small amount.'

All of a sudden, I slapped my head because my mind stated that. What in the world was going on with my mind at that moment?

Perhaps it would be best if I didn't admit anything so that nothing or no one would go against it.

My only reply to my brother's words was just a heavy sigh. After that, I touched and gripped the thing that was in my pocket. With that deed alone, I knew I had to do something to put an end to my roller coaster mind.

"Let's go. We better have lunch first." I started walking away fro my hiding spot after saying that.

Neilson soon followed and even tapped my shoulder once as soon as he reached me. "Do you even think having lunch is going to clear your mind?"

"Well, I need to do something for that to happen, right? Not to mention, I'm really hungry. Besides, I remembered Mrs. Terre mentioning that we'll start practicing for our dance practicum. I have a feeling that I'll be burning more calories because of that."

"Sure, whatever you say."

Seriously, I wasn't liking the disbelieving tone I heard from my twin brother. It seemed like I wasn't saying enough to be convincing.
