CHAPTER- 4

Jean wanted to get away from the crowd for once to have a little lonely time but little she knew; that would be crushed by her best friend, Megan. Her ears couldn’t believe what she said to her.

“Jean?” Liam’s caution filled voice came to her ears which brought her out of the dreading misery.

“Why Liam? Why!” She spat at him with tears clouding her vision.

“Jean, you have to listen to me.” Liam took calculative steps towards her. He just wants to hold her and tell her everything he knows, only if she hears him. Somehow, he knew Jean is not the patient character, she never has patience and that brings more fear into his heart.

“Did you? Or did you not, sleep with her Liam?” She asks silently but he couldn’t answer that to her to which she fires another question to him, “Did you do it intentionally? You knew Megan when you slept with her?”

“Jean fucking listen to me; I was drunk to the point where I could hardly know anything.” He explains.

She stumbles forward to him saying, “but you were sane enough to fuck her? To fucking get her pregnant?”

This came as a shock to him as he didn’t know what to say to her. “What are you saying?”

“I’m pregnant Liam, with your baby.” Megan says with her disgusting smirk on.

“You bitch are lying! Jean this is all her trap, she trapped me into this mess.”

Jean could see the sincerity in his eyes but Megan? She is her childhood friend, why would she lie to her. Shaking her head, she leans onto the wall and cries her eyes out before taking a decision, “Megan, I need you to take pregnancy test tomorrow. I’ll be with you every step and if? If it’s his baby then he has to take responsibilities.”

Hearing to her Megan frowns, “don’t you believe me Jean, you believe this bastard over me?”

“You heard what I said Megan, you will do as I say and no more discussions on it.”

Saying this she sprints out off the room but as she could enter the hall Liam grabs her hand pulling her to him, “you didn’t say anything about us.”

“There’s nothing much left for us Liam.”

His heart skipped a beat, “what do you mean by that? Jean you said you will never leave me.”

“That was before knowing you slept with my friend.”

“I was fucking drunk; I don’t even know if I slept with her.”

Jean looks down realizing he is right at some point but the way Megan claims Liam as her is bothering with her head. “Liam promise me, you will take care of Megan and her baby.”

“Don’t say that, she does not carry my baby.”

“What if she does?” She fires her question making him dumb for a moment.

“Then I’ll accept my fate.”

She nods at him before taking her leave out of his house leaving the guests confused at the situation.

Megan texts the certain person about Jean’s clause, without waiting much the reply came pretty soon.

TEXT: I’ll be waiting by the roof of the Paradise Hotel, come soon.

Reading the hotel word itself brings a smile on her face, replying back to him.

TEXT: Right on my way.

Liam sits in the hall where everyone looks at him with questionable eyes.

“What happened?” Liam’s brother asks him along with the other members.

“Jean looked upset while leaving, is everything all right?” his mother asks.

He takes a deep breath before admitting, “I screwed up.”

Jean stumbles her way in the two roomed apartment which she calls her home. She grabs the wine bottle from the kitchen cabinet and pulls the cork open of the bottle to take big gulps of the liquid. “It’s going to be a long painful night.”

Her phone rings making her look at the contact picture, the blue eyes flashing with the name of Drake but she didn’t pick it up as she wasn’t in any mood of talking to anyone, let alone Megan’s brother.

She flops down on the couch only to welcome the darkness cover her sight.

The next day came pretty soon to her which made her eyes burn for even opening it but the constant calling of the phone made her awake anyway. Her eyes pop out seeing Fifty miscalls from Mother, twenty-five from Drake and Hundreds from Liam himself. She ignores the last one as she calls back first thing her mother.

“Hello?”

“Jean, see the news.”

Her mother’s reply was short and calm she didn’t expect that.

“Why are you asking me that?”

“Just do it now!”

She hangs up and opens the television rubbing her aching head she turns on the news channel.

What she saw shook her from the core.

“Liam Walker arrested for murdering Megan Hiking by pushing her off the top most floor of the Paradise Hotel. The security camera records his arrival, his departure even him entering the roof top footage. Though, his face could not be seen but the dress is pretty well recognizable as he did wear the same in his engagement party with Jean Daniels. He is being questioned under the custody, stay tuned for more updates.”

No! my Liam can’t be a murderer. She thought as new fresh tears starts to spill from her eyes. Liam can't be the monster they say he is, she knows him or maybe she didn't.
