Chapter Four

After lunch, Caelum invited Sydney to have a little walk around the hospital. Sydney never really wanted a tour but she knew that she wouldn’t be able to go outside either because of the rain.

They walked side to side, Caelum doing his best to slow down his pace so that she could catch up.

For some reason, Sydney didn’t know why she felt very comfortable with the man. It was her first time seeing him and even spent a few hours with him, but it felt like she can trust him.

Her stomach was filled with butterflies when she observed him and he caught her looking at him. She turned her head the other way and hoped that he didn’t see her now-flushed face.

Why is he so attractive?!

Caelum sees how shy she was and couldn’t keep to himself how cute he finds the girl. He lightly chuckled.

Embarrassed and turning beet red now, Sydney decided to avert the attention, “S-so what happens next to Julius and Tallulah now?

He looked down at her with a small smile before tilting his head, “Come, I want to show you something.

Her brows raised in anticipation, wondering what the man wanted to show. She followed behind him, going up the elevator and then going to a certain floor and there…

“Woah…” Sydney couldn’t believe her eyes.

The big view of the whole city from a wide glass window took her breath away. It was filled with nature and the city, a good mix of both. It was breathtaking already, what more if night comes and you could see all the city lights?

Her heart melted, “This is beautiful, Mr. Caelum.” Left and right, what she could see was only the magnificent view. “I never knew they had this before!

Caelum observed her speechless expression and it tugged something in his heart, “Yes… beautiful.” Without him even knowing, his hand stretched out to touch her hair but then Sydney stepped forward, wanted to see more of the view and distracted by it.

He immediately drew his hand back and crumpled it. Woah there, boy. What are you doing? His head shook in frustration, crazy that he almost did that.

So Caelum followed suit Sydney who was now leaning on the railings. She still couldn’t get over how wonderful the view was. He then spoke, “Julius and Tallulah weren’t from this city, but they decided to move here after settling the company and their marriage.

The girl’s brows raised, snapping her head at Caelum, “Oh really? That’s cool!” Excitement sparked in her eyes once more.

He nodded and continued the story, “Yeah… after a lot of rejections, hard work, sacrifices, and threats, Julius and Tallulah’s love didn’t fade…”

‘”I can’t believe this, love…” Tallulah was so out of breath as soon as she got off the simple white car which had a banner on it says ‘Just Married’.

Julius smiled, slipping his arms around his now wife’s waist before wrapping them and pulling her closer to his. His chin rested on her shoulder as they both look at the small and simple house in front of them. “Yeah… I can’t believe it, too, dear.

The two were both in tears, seeing how much they’ve faced together. From working hard to get the company back on track just so his parents won’t force him to marry Alliana, to constantly asking permission for their wedding.

The company stood up on its own again, but their marriage? Not a chance. So Julius decided to take his part of the company and move to another city with Tallulah after the wedding ceremony. They were happy that at least Tallulah’s family attended.

But like what they always said, marriage isn’t always happy.

A few years after their marriage, Julius and Tallulah got into a very heated argument.

“Why are you drinking again?!” Tallulah shouted at him while she picked up the bottles of alcohol around the place.

“BECAUSE I’M STRESSED OUT, OKAY?!” It was surprising. She was shocked. Julius had never shouted at her like that, ever. And now, it was scaring her.

Her face paled, and her voice came out as a whisper, “Why are you stressed out? I do everything for you, Julius!

The man walked in front of her and frustratingly replied, “Because I have to work hard for us to have a good life!

Tallulah shook her head, “I don’t understand. We have a good life. What are you trying to say that we don’t have a good life?” Was she not enough? Is he seeing someone now? Most of all… doesn’t he love her anymore?

“Damn!” He shouted, throwing his arms on the air as he turned around and walk a few steps away from her.

It was difficult to see. The sight of his back made Tallulah’s eyes fill with tears.

The man deeply sighed as he rubbed his face with his hand roughly. “I don’t want this kind of life for you, Tal.” He then turned to face her, already seeing her crying, “This is not the life I promised to give you. I wanted us to have a good life—.

“By good life, you meant a wealthy one?” Tallulah choked on her tears, trying her best to speak straight, “If that’s what you meant, then…” her head shook, “…I don’t want it.

Julius’ jaw clenched. He wasn’t used to having this ‘simple’ life. It was always their difference. He did his best to adjust, but now it was just stressing him out. For some reason, he missed the life he had before. “I… I need a break.

He said coldly and walked up to their room, beginning to pack his things. Tallulah followed him and her heart broke as soon as she saw him putting clothes in his luggage.

“J-Julius, no!” Crying, she runs to him and slid in between him and the luggage on the bed. Her arms were wide open, shaking her head and continuously telling him, “Don’t go, please.

Julius’ heart broke, but he couldn’t take it anymore. There were a lot of things going inside his mind, and he needed to leave.

His head shook and turned around and walked away, but two arms suddenly wrapped around his waist, and he felt his back all wet now because of his wife’s tears, “Please… don’t leave me…” She begged weakly, giving all her vulnerable self to him.

But no, he shook his head and broke free from her embrace. He hurriedly walked out of their damned house while Tallulah threw her dignity away and ran after him.

She did her best to stop him even if other people were already looking at them. Tallulah didn’t care. She doesn’t want to give up on them. She wanted a family of her own.

“Leave me!” Shouting once again, Julius turned around to face her in annoyance.

The girl’s face was covered in tears and it broke his heart seeing her like that but he couldn’t think straight and everything was burdening him. “Please…” He weakly begged as a tear dropped from his eyes, “Leave me…”

Silence filled the two. They did nothing but look at each other’s faces wet with tears and puffy eyes. His head shook, said nothing, and turned around. He walked forward.

Later did he know, a heavy honk of a car resonated, a screeching sound of brakes came after, and a loud thud was heard.

Sydney’s eyes widened in shock, not only because of what happened in the story, but also because she sees Caelum crying.
