Chapter Three

One by one, droplets of rain began to fall. It fell on their skin, causing Sydney and Caelum to look at one another, trying to communicate using just their eyes.

The familiar sound of shower quickly increased in volume as it announces its arrival, blowing soft winds and painting the cemented ground with drops of water. The sudden entrance of the fall forced people to find shelter, and that considered Sydney and Caelum.

“Come on, we have to hurry.” Caelum stood up right away and took Sydney’s hand, pulling her out of the bench before running with her.

Sydney thought that rainy days weren’t fun, but now she thinks otherwise as she sees her hand tightly grasped by another as they ran through the rain.

It made her heart… flustered.

They went inside the hospital and as expected, the building’s air conditioner hit them cold. Sydney shivered.

Caelum sees her and even though he was also feeling cold himself, he pulled his jacket and swiftly rested it on her shoulders.

She was surprised and her head snapped up, “I-I’m fine! You’re going to be cold—”

“It’s alright. I’m used to it anyway.” His shoulders shrugged as he arranged the jacket properly, making sure that Sydney doesn’t take it off just to give it back to him.

Her lips pressed and nodded, “Alright… Thank you.” She shyly says while getting comfortable with it.

The man stretched his lips and smiled at her handsomely, and suddenly, Sydney doesn’t feel cold anymore. Heat rose up her cheeks and she knew she had to look away to save herself from embarrassment.

Caelum lightly chuckled. He finds her really cute and beautiful but he wouldn’t admit it, at least not just yet.

“So,” He dips his hands on his pockets to warm himself up, “Have you eaten lunch already?

Her petite head shook from side to side, “No… not yet.

“Well, what do you want for lunch? My treat.” He proudly pointed to himself and grinned.

Sydney was hesitant whether to accept his offer or not, but then again, how could she reject that heart-melting smile of his?

They both went to the hospital’s food court and got themselves some food. Caelum bought what he craved while Sydney was prepared with food that was scheduled for her.

“So what happened to Julius and the girl?” She couldn’t help it, she really wanted to know.

Caelum lightly chuckled as he chewed on his food. Once swallowed, he continued his story, “The petite young girl was really fast in running and at last, Julius saw her stop at a place…”

‘Julius entered the small hotel, seeing the mischievous girl at the lobby all soaked in water, just like he was.

Smiling when she saw that the young man had followed her through the rain, she waved her hand in full energy at him like nothing bad happened.

Julius was pissed off. With his brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed at her, he walked towards this young girl.

“Hi!” She cheerfully greeted.

With deadly stares at her, he coldly spoke as he presented his palm facing up, “Give me back my phone.

The girl’s shoulders shrugged, “Well, here you go.” And just like that, she placed the phone on his palm.

Julius wrapped his fingers around it immediately, “You’re gonna pay for this.” He said through his gritted teeth.

She smiled cutely at him, “You know, you’re from a very well-off family. Why did you have to run after me just for a mere phone that doesn’t even chip off of your daily salary?” Her hands were placed behind her and she rocked her body back and forth.

He didn’t understand what she was trying to imply. His brows furrowed in confusion, “What are you talking about?

The man was very tall so the petite girl has to lean her head back more just to see his eyes, “You like me, don’t you?” Then she giggled.

Rolling his eyes, Julius groaned before speaking, “You’re crazy. You know what, think whatever you want. I’m leaving.” He turned around and began walking, but a loud voice shouted and it echoed through the whole lobby.

“I’M HUNGRY BUY ME DINNER!

He stopped, taken aback by the sudden command. Hmph, this girl doesn’t even know how to show manners. Why would I even treat her to dinner?

“Mm! This is delicious! I’ll finish everything up, so don’t worry, Mr. Julius!” The petite girl said even while there was food inside her mouth.

The young man who was sitting across her watched her with annoyance, his arms and legs crossed. “Don’t. talk. Just. eat.” He commands coldly.

“Thir, yethir!” She saluted with her mouth still stuffed with food.

Julius sighed. But it surprised him that seeing the young girl eat well entertained him. Except for the fact that she burped…

With a satisfied heart and a stuffed, round stomach, the girl leaned her back on the chair while wiping her mouth with the table napkin, “That was good.

He stood up and narrowed his eyes at her, “Now that I have paid for your food, I hope that we do not see each other ever again.

Just before Julius could leave, the girl has quickly stood up from the chair, ran towards him, and placed her hands on the man’s cheeks. She pulled his face down to her while she tiptoed her tiny feet to reach for his lips.

The poor young man, he froze.

But his now warm cheeks were good news to the girl. She smiled against his lips before pulling away without letting go of his face, “My name’s Tallulah by the way...

Julius was too much puzzled. He didn’t know whether it was the kiss made him freeze, or is it her bizarre name.

The only reply Tallulah got was his eyes fluttering in confusion.

“That’s when everything started,” Caelum said with a grin as he sees Sydney focused at him, waiting for more.

She blinked, “That’s it?

He snorted, ‘No, that’s not the end of the story.

Her shoulders shrugged, “Then why are you stopping there?

Caelum eyed her food on the table, “Because your food would turn cold. I’ve been telling the story for a while now and you still haven’t even finished it halfway. Now eat up, and then I’ll continue the story.” He said amusingly.

“Oh, that’s right.” Sydney realizes that her food wasn’t still touched as much. So she straightened her back before taking the spoon and began with her now lukewarm soup. She placed the spoon in her mouth and swallowed the savory liquid. Her eyes closed, and opened.

For a quick moment, Sydney thought she saw her surroundings change, not in a hospital... but a restaurant of a small hotel.
