Chapter 4

I run in there, and what I saw made me laugh so hard that tears start forming in my eyes.

The big bad wolf was covered in glitter, his massive body wrapped in a pink dress which was about to rip apart, and he was screaming in a high pitched voice at a hysterically laughing Ro and a chuckling Jocelyn. I knew that was Rosalind’s work, she was half-witch and always punished us this humiliating way for our bad behavior. When he saw me he screamed even louder.

“Jade please, shut up! Our ears are almost bleeding!” I screamed in between laughs to cover his voice and made myself heard, “Ro please I can’t take it anymore.” I pleaded.

Finally, she had mercy on us changing Jade back to normal except his clothes, which caused him to storm out of my room mumbling about disrespectful females.

“What was that about this time?” I asked still chuckling.

“He scared this little cutie.” She explained pitching her cheek. And then I observed how much better Jocelyn actually looked. Her hair was braided in our fashion in complicated models, and a simple A-line floor-length dress was complimenting her body, although she was still very skinny her bruises disappeared.

“You are beautiful, this deep green is obviously your color” I complimented her, and she blushed furiously looking down “Ro, you did a good job.

She waved her hand as if it wasn’t a big deal, but I knew it means a lot for Jo.

“It’s a little I could do for Jade’s mate.” She stated.

“So you are sure about this? We just supposed about their mating bond.

“Yes, I can feel their bond, that’s the reason you saw him like that, Jade was so happy when I confirmed that hugged her all of a sudden, Jo got frightened and I punished him for that. He should be patient with her.

While she was explaining all this I caught a movement with my peripheral sight. I looked at Jo, she was confused, opening and closing her mouth like couldn’t decide what to ask.

“What is a mate? You keep calling me that.” She whispered so softly that we almost missed it.

“How come you don’t know? All werewolves learn about mates.” Ro giggled.

“So she is one?” I asked.

“Don’t you smell it?

“Slightly, I supposed that she is but wasn’t sure, she’s weak and-“I stopped when Jocelyn bend to the floor, breathing hard and shivering.

“She has a panic attack.” Ro stated, “I’ll put a spell to calm her down, she’ll fall asleep soon.

Just then Jade came back and rushed instantly by Jocelyn’s side growling at us upon seeing her on the floor

“Shut up Jade!” I snarled back, “this overprotective shit is annoying already!

We continued growling at each over when Ro interrupted this battle of wills.

“She is just shocked, I told her she is a werewolf, I didn’t know she is oblivious about this.

“She is-? “he whispered hopefully. His tail beating the floor.

“Yes, but she doesn’t feel it, as well as the mating bond because she is still weak, but I thought she at least knew.”, “I’m sorry Jocelyn, I didn’t mean to scare you”

Her eyes were swirling between us and we almost could see her brains fuming, but the spell was working and she was falling asleep.

“I don’t understand anything” she mumbled, “everything seems like a dream of a crazy mind”, “am I dead? Did my father killed me this time?” she whispered before falling in a deep sleep.

We looked at each over. Seems she had a shitty life.

“Well, with her past she’ll fit in our family” I commented sarcastically which gained me two annoyed looks. Jade took her bridal style and left the room.

We sat on my bed thinking about today, a full day indeed.

“What were you all even doing in my room?” I asked.

“Oh, I heard you are going to Lilium St. for a while”, “wanted a girls’ night before that” she sighed resting her head against mine.

“Don’t tell Jade about ‘girls’ night’, he’ll freak out that was invited.” We giggled at that.

“At least let me help you pack.” She proposed.

“Ok, you chose dresses better than me, and I need you to make me that potion to change my hair, too bad I can’t wear a glamour for fairies”

“Again pink?” she grinned at me from my dresser and I nodded, she is the girly type. “I know you hate this part of work.

“Well, I won’t have the fun part without it.

“Killing someone is fun?

“Killing bad guys is fun.

She shook her head.

Ro was against this ‘work’, however, she understood our reasons. She took the big sister role for us, the pacifist of the family, the first to whom we all run when our asses get burnt. Besides Tamor’s sons, she was the first adopted, however, that was more for her protection, because she was already 20 years old, you see no one would mess with Tamor to put their hands on her. Now she was around 89, but no thought of leaving with someone occurred her. I guess I knew the reason.

Then it was Jade, Tamor accidentally saw and bought him at an auction in a miserable state, he was 3 back then, and was about to be sold as a slave to a tolerance house, Tamor burned it to the ground. Frightened, hungry, and almost wild, it took him some time to adapt. He was 16 when both I and Carmila appeared.

We were 8, and with instant hate for each over. Tamor tried his best to raise us as ladies but I constantly begged to let me train with Jade. My main reason was to get revenge for my parent’s deaths, but also I wanted to not feel weak anymore, cause I couldn't use my magic abilities for some reason we haven't figured yet, so I was all about training my physical ones. It took me 3 years to convince him but eventually, he gave up. Meanwhile, Carmila hated the fact that I was somehow over her with my training so she started as well.

We were 14 when Tamor explained to us that he wasn’t just owning almost a third of this city, he was involved in much more. He holds a web of spies and assassins for the crown but also working beside their back, it was a risky game but easy to maintain for someone who is constantly lying. From then I begged him to train me into an assassin, he accepted rather quickly this time.

Although in time I became one of his best cadres Tamor hid my existence. Not just mine but Jade’s also, he said it was a precautionary measure. Thus our training expanded, both of us became also his shadows. I loved working for him it gave me a purpose and a way to release my energy and anger.

Carmila was presented as his daughter when she was 18. She was more of a fighter, so was just living her life but at least could sniff here and there for us. Being aware of the latest gossips was a huge help. Tamor even bought her a house under the sea for her comfort. Her mermaid genes pushing sometimes for underwater living. Soon she joined the high-society there too. Our war finished when I saved her ass from a group of males after a ball.

You may get Tamor for an altruist after all this, but don't fool yourself. He is a ruthless male. Known and feared all around the kingdom. He gained such power not just by hard work.

Tamor killed.

Tamor lied.

Tamor created schemes and a shadow world of his own, known by a few.

The king, Elowen Goldstein (for short), often require his help if there is a need for information or someone must 'disappear'.

No one knew his past. And when he picked us up that was because of his reasons. Not a sign of goodwill. However, he took care of us. There is a lot that he didn't tell us, although we don't ask either. We became a family and that was enough. What more could we wish for?

After finishing all preparations our things were moved to Lilium St., and we arrived at house nr.13 at noon. Some creatures still roamed the streets. It was rare to see somebody still awake at this hour, but I guess we should get used to it with the approaching coronation.

The house hasn’t changed. Situated in the center of one of the main streets, it was tall, with 4 floors, and a quite elegant gothic architecture that dominated the entire Celirium, it was painted in a soft pink color, thick ivy climbing its walls, big round windows were adorned with colorful flowers.

I used it multiple times, and at some point, Tamor gave me the rights to it. Still, I chose to live home. However, this gained us the possibility to justify Lylia Jordin’s absence for when I don’t use this fake identity. That helped us to avoid questions and constantly creating a new character in our charade.

We arrived already in our masquerade. Jade as my butler opened the door of my carriage helping me out. He was wearing a formal dark green suit and glasses, his now brown hair neatly combed back. Jocelyn as my maid was wearing a light-green flowing dress, a bit too open for her like but it was Lylia’s style and in fashion nowadays so-.

My appearance changed some more, Ro’s potion changed my hair color to a pale-pink. Fairies can’t fool fairies with glamour so it was the only way, such type of potions were pretty expensive and were lasting just around 24 hours, so it was rare to use them all the time, thus no one could suspect that my hair was changed. My eyes were also pink now, thank humans for their color lentils. A bit of magic and they were perfect. A diaphanous blue dress was complimenting my porcelain skin. And a sexy, glittering makeup exposed my beautiful features. I smirked entering the house, now let the game begin.
