Her Story

Chapter 1

Duh, I’m finally back from the human realm. Being stuck out there for almost two weeks was challenging. My fae body wouldn’t adapt, too much technology, and a lack of healthy nature. Each time I travel there the feeling of weakness doesn’t leave me.

I groaned loud dismounting my midnight blue horse, Ciel, he is tired as well. Little stars on his legs are fading from the exhaust. He found me when I got lost in the woods one day, the problem is he appears just when I need him. Ciel never lived at my home or showed his true identity to strangers. For everyone else, he is just a normal black horse. As normal as a fae horse may be. They are stronger, bigger, leaner bodies, with a slightly shimmering coat, mane, and tails. More graceful than ones from the human world. Some possessed magic power, as Ciel did. A witch once told me he maybe something like a familiar to me. The idea is hilarious, fae doesn't have familiars, especially not ones as weak as me.

I choose for us to land on a high coast, at the edge of the secular forest. Since Ciel used a lot of his magic on our trip. Pacing along the forest’s border to let him rest we reached the road across it to Celirium. The forest was thick and dark. Because it was already evening you could observe little balls of shimmering light starting to appear. Never follow them. Don’t even pay attention, because they can interpret your desire and lure you to death. Some parts of the woods were extremely dangerous even for fairies.

We approached the city at dusk in time for twilight creatures to awake.

The capital of the Ilysterion kingdom was almost the same. Night lights illuminate the city doubling the sky. Its layered configuration appears so more special after return from the humans' trivial realm. But something is happening. There are ongoing preparations, the diversity of fangs, horns, tails, wings, and shapes even richer than usual, and everyone is rushing from one place to another. There are also decorations installed everywhere. I approach an elf to get some answers, and it seems our king is ready to choose the heir, whose coronation is planned in two weeks, hm, so that’s why the city was buzzing louder than usual. I head home, which is right on the opposite side from the eastern entrance. But before that, I decided to check up on something.

On my way something caught my attention making me abruptly stop Ciel. I can't believe my own eyes. He is indeed here, as I supposed he came for the coronation. Then I change Ciel's pace to galloping, arriving in no time at home.

“You don’t understand, I need to see him know!” I yell, desperately trying to break free but in vain, this half-fae half-werewolf bastard is too strong. ”Jade please!” I cried out, defeated. He looks down at me, his dark green eyes warning to not mess up with him. Something was wrong, usually, he wasn't like that.

“No, he’s busy, Sky.” came his dry reply. I groan out of frustration.

“Fine” I sigh, but the moment he loosened his grip on me, I hit his knee to slow him and sprint down the hall with all strength I had left. Almost breaking the door, I burst into Tamor’s office.

"I saw him, I mean, his equipage, he is in town, I must be there tonight, I need to do something, I-", Jade's hands around me interrupting my yelling.

"I’m sorry Sir, I couldn't stop her" he apologizes.

"It's fine, let her go, and you calm down" Tamor orders us, in his deep voice. But his lack of reaction at my news seems odd, he didn’t even ask whom I’m talking about.

"You knew?!" I ask in disbelief "why haven't you told me?" I whisper shocked by his attitude.

"Because I knew you’d react exactly the way you did." He responded so calmly that my blood boiled.

"Are you kidding me?”, “I waited 5 years for his return, he would be dead by now if you just told me?" I roar.

“You won’t do it. I forbid.” He barks. I stiffen, the words just won't come out. How dare he demand that of me? He is the only one who knows how important it was for me to get rid of Dumarque. This monster killed my mom in such a cruel way, and I am sure he is responsible for my dad’s death as well, and now he is asking, no, ordering me to stay still?

“That’s a joke, right?” I tried my luck, “You won’t ask that, not you, Tamor. You know better than anyone that I trained last fourteen years for this!” my tone rising with every word until I’m almost screaming, and my body is trembling with emotions I can’t hide. I knew my eyes got a red ring around my light grey iris, that happens when I use my powers or can’t control myself.

“Control your temper Sky!” he put me in place, I turned my gaze away from him. The feeling of hurt and betrayal eating at me. In my anger, I remember my last attempt at Dumarque’s life, a carriage accident, almost successful. I may try …

“Don’t even think to try what you have done five years ago” he guessed my thoughts, “He is one of the High Lords now, and he is against war, that is what matters now” he said.

I sighted, I knew how important was to stop the war, especially for Tamor. One of his sons died there and another had gone missing. There are a few moments of silence like nobody knew what to say.

Then I observed how tired he actually look. Because fae almost stops aging around 20, at his 256 years he still looks in his 20’, but his cherry eyes lost their usual spark, his shoulder long red hair is messed and untied, even the clothes on him are no more impeccable. The dark marks under his eyes stealing his youth. He is also skinnier than two weeks ago, even with all that, his strong body didn't lose its shape. It is hurting me to see him this way. Tamor is my adoptive father as well as Jade’s, and of other two friends of mine, Carmila and Rosalind.

“Any news about Sun?” I ask about his second son.

“There is a body that is supposed to be his, I’ll know by tomorrow for sure”

“Believe me or not I have a feeling it’s not him”

He thought about my words for a while.

“The mission has been completed,” I mentioned, changing the topic.

“I knew it the moment you stepped in the city” he replied, “you won’t come back if you haven’t done it” he smiled sadly at me, sighing heavily he continued: “I’m sorry Sky, I know what this all means to you, but I beg you to wait for a while.

I ponder for some time, that is a hard promise to make, I'm not so confident about myself.

“Yeah, well, I promise to try to be a good girl.

I almost turned to go when Jade meaningfully cleared his throat and suddenly Tamor look at me as if he remembered something important stopping me in my tracks.

“Sky, I’d like you to talk to someone” he carefully asked, staring strangely at me. Okay, this is becoming interesting. “There is a human girl that Jade brought from a mission, he’ll tell you the details, she is scared of males so we cannot approach her, we tried but every time it had been worse, we used some glamour but maybe her vision got cleared a bit because she was frightened, we stopped eventually for her to eat at least, make her understand her situation.

“Why not Ro she is more suitable for this?

“She went in the mountains to get some herbs for her potions”

“Carmila?

“She has some work under the sea.

“You know I’m as sensible as a cabbage”, I wined “she’ll probably have a heart attack should I open my mouth.

“Yes, well, for now, you are the only option, besides you were more often in the human realm, therefore you should find a way to explain,” he said looking down like his table is the most interesting thing in the world. Jade is mirroring his action, that was odd. I wonder why they are so uncomfortable about her, duh, these fae males.

“Fine I’ll try, but if she dies don’t blame me”, “I’ll be down in an hour, we’ll talk then,” I told Jade, he nodded still looking down.

When I made it to my room, I locked the door and slide down it to the floor. Nothing had changed and I was glad. An inside mini wood. That is how it looks. Large circular window, flowers, and mushrooms growing all over the mossy carpet, a large wooden bed with red silk sheets and a diaphanous canopy. Also my pride, my personal Bibliotheque covering all walls around. Usually being in here is calming me down but, thinking about today I can’t stop my body from trembling. I’d like to cry out all the frustration, but how? Anger is consuming me. I owe Tamor so much, disobeying is out of the discussion, so what do I do now? How to cope with this?

After a few minutes, I went to take a bath.

Getting out I stare at myself in the large mirror. Here, in our realm, I am not using a glamour to cover my real, fae form. Previously short, dull, brown hair regained its past waist length and black-brown, shiny, color, flowing in loose curls. My silver eyes are gazing back at me, at my long pointed ears, plump lips, and longer members, along with full breasts and alluring hips, now I am a bit higher also, around 5,6 ft. I’ve missed my delicate features. Looking at this beautiful shape no one would think that they are talking to an assassin and a spy. That saddened me, making think of what life I could’ve had. Probably a boring one. Giving myself a bitter smile I step away.

I got dressed in a white short top and a blue, waist-high loose skirt which ended just below my knees. Of course, I stay barefoot, oh I loved to roam home like that.

After we talked, Jade led me to a girl’s room. When I opened the door I wasn’t prepared for what I saw.
