Chapter 2: A Millionaire Suitor

***Bungee jumped to forty minutes later***

Lilian knocked on the hard wooden door until her pale knuckles had slightly turned red with pressure. She figured the woman inside could be deliberately ignoring the knock so she slowly pushed the door open… “Miko is here” She reported in a cautious and polite manner, head nodding with eyes tracing somewhere in between the red door mat and the spotless white flooring.

“Who gave him my new address?” The boss lady whisper-yelled out a question while sitting in front of the dressing mirror. She wore a pink silky night gown and hair wrapped into a white towel.

“I didn’t”

“Tell him I have a visitor. A man”

“He will not buy that”

“Just tell him something to make him leave Lily” She raised the pitch of her voice higher, throwing a glare at her assistant who quickly fell back and accidentally slammed the door shut.

Lilian closed her eyes for a brief moment, trying to think of a good excuse to tell Miko so that he can peacefully leave without feeling offended. It was in the nature of the twenty year old, not wanting to hurt other people’s feelings. Being born as a sensitive cancerian child in a very poor family who cannot afford to sponsor her to college, she had to struggle her way up doing things she didn’t really liked before she finally got a chance to be hired as an assistant with only her well graded high school certificate.

***Outside of the Mansion***

One casually dressed dude stepped out from a latest model Mercedes benz parked in front of the white Mansion. As he spot the assistant in black maxi suit skirt and a white long sleeve shirt coming towards him, he felt a little bit of surprise to see the slim woman still wearing a formal attire when she should have been dressed in a comfortable pajamas _and who the hell wears a hot secretary type of heels at half past 10 pm on a work free Sunday? Is she a workaholic who sleeps on a mahogany table well-stacked with her boss lady’s beauty errand files and cosmetology schedules?

He adjusted his wrist watch after glancing at the time. With a warm pleasing smile on his moderately cute facial features, he balanced half his weight on his fancy car as soon as the skinny lady has arrived.

“She is having a conversation with her Mom. I… think its very important so I cannot interrupt them…” And that was the brilliant excuse Lilian came up with, though the man only stared at her with obvious disbelief in his eyes like _ he never even told her why he came or who he came to see. Yet, she had concluded everything with a perfect full stop.

To him, this plainly implies that she’d either peeped through the window and saw his car parked in front of the Mansion before reporting to her boss who does not wish to see him, or maybe Lilian herself, want him gone… because it was nighttime, and her boss wouldn’t even look at her face if she dares to report his presence. But either ways, she was bad at lying.

“You are quite terrible at lying” he snorted loudly. And when his eyes lowered down to Lilian’s plump looking lips, he tried to suppress the funny emotion with a small chortle, but he failed as the chortle escalated into an unexpected awkward laughter which he had not intended to let out.

For another few seconds, he tried to catch his breath as he examined the cute woman still patiently standing under the artificial lights but looking so uncomfortable with the drama happening.

What was so funny in their conversation? Lily wondered as she tried not to look at him in the eyes since she is already busted in her white lie, and there was nothing more to tell.

“Sorry… I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable” he cleared his throat “Wipe off that brown stuff on your lips Lilian”

Lily snapped the back of her hands to her lips and began scrubbing as though she was scrubbing a spilled ink on a wooden table. Wondering what it could be, she lowered the hand down and saw some traces of the brown whipped choco she had consumed earlier.

Embarrassing… So embarrassing to the point that she wanted to run away, but that would probably make her look even more stupid so she will have to deal with the awkward feeling threatening her now.

“I never told you that I came here to see Ae Ra” Thankfully, the man’s expression shifted to a whole new serious level as he resumed to his normal talks “I have gotten over my crush for Ae Ra long time ago. I only came here to see you…”

But a flesh from her heart instantly vibrated when she heard that. “M-me? W-why… w-would you wanna see me?” She forced the words out in a freakish stammer, her stomach kickboxing and racing helter-skelter while the man Miko, strode his long legs forward _ now standing too close to her figure.

Before she knew it, the heated big palm has descended to her left shoulder, electrocuting the flesh beneath her light fabric. “…Cuz now am crushing on you… Miss Lilian McClain” She heard his macho voice deepened in an intimidating and scary way. Generally, Men do not scare her but this bold man named Jordan Miko is too confident in his moves which now gives her the odd shivers. With some goosebumps too…

“I…… I am sorry. I am really very sorry but I have to go…” Lily pushed his hands down and quickly turned away, hurrying back faster towards the mansion entrance.

The young man does not seemed surprised at all with the comfortable smirk on his face while he watched the silhouette of the slender woman walking out on him with her hair tied in a perfect bun.

In fact, he was very much aware of the kind of trouble his dancing heart had gotten him into. He had studied Lilian’s character for quite some time and knew that it wouldn't be easy for him to be accepted after he had previously attempted to woo her boss Ae Ra.

Although for Jordan Miko, he fell attracted to Anna only for her physical beauty but Lilian turned out to be the woman he’d felt a genuine admiration for. He needed something different in a woman _not sophistication, and something different about Lilian’s shy nature had captured his heart. She is reserve, cute, charming and very respectful towards other people like the loyal wife material he’d wished to marry someday.

However, he knew that Lilian was the conservative type of woman who probably would never want to fall in love with a twenty six year old jerk millionaire because she’d deem him as a very wrong match for her simple, unsophisticated world. Though that was not true… because his dream was to live in that simple, unsophisticated world.
