Chapter Six

“My office. Now.” He warned, his voice was harsh and angry, I’d really pushed upon a nerve. I hung up, pleased with my attempts to rile Nick, although I wasn’t completely sure why.

I stood up and walked to Nick’s office. Janie ushered me in the door.

“He’s in a foul mood.” She noted before she hit the intercom. I flushed and looked at the floor, feeling slightly guilty that I was the cause.

“Mr Jackson, Miss Jenkins is here.” She said softly.

“Send her in Janie, could you head down to the shop on the corner, I’m out of coffee grinds.” Nick said his voice was softer than it had been toward me less than five minutes ago.

Janie opened the doors and I walked in, she closed them behind me, leaving Nick and I alone. He sat in his over-sized office chair, his eyes were dark and narrow, and his lips were sitting on his face in a thin line. He looked as angry as he’d sounded.

My heart pounded and I felt the hair on my arms stick up.

Nick didn’t say anything, he only stood up slowly walked around the desk, until he stood in front of me.

“Miss Jenkins, I have to give you a verbal warning for inappropriate emails. Please cease your rebellious behavior or there will be more serious consequences.” He said his tone although cold and icy, set my stomach a flutter, his angry face was incredibly sexy.

“Oh, like what Mr Jackson.” I replied, playing with fire, excited about the prospect of a full blown explosion. Nick raised an eyebrow his eyes were full of mischief and his jaw was clenched.

“Sarah,” he muttered, as he sighed deeply and moved closer to me, until we were standing less than an inch apart. “You don’t want to know what my consequences for you are.

I looked up at him, my eyes wide.

Oh, Nick, but I do.

Nick must have read my mind because he let go of his self control and for the second time that day his hands grabbed my hips roughly. Showing little restraint he pulled my body in to his. His hands slid around to my thighs as he lifted me up on to his desk.

“You make me crazy Sarah, and I’ve known you 24 hours. I’m in a world of trouble.” Nick murmured. "Something is binding me to you. Do you feel it too?"

All I could do was nod in agreement.

His fingers trailed up to my waist he hooked his fingers in to the belt loops, roughly he pulled my pants and panties from my legs. Within seconds they lay askew on the ground. I looked up at Nick who caught my gaze. He pressed his forehead against mine and let out a low deep groan.

My entire life until now should have stopped me from behaving this way, especially after knowing a person for such a short time. Yet, here I sat, living in the anticipation of Nicks next move. I'd always been the exception to the rule, the weird one. Why would this be any different either?

“You planned this, that’s why you sent Janie away” I said as I sat there naked from the waist down. Nick looked at me, still clearly angry, but when I spoke a smirk crossed his face.

Nick sat me on his desk and then undone the button and zip on his pants. He shrugged his pants and boxers down. Like magnets we gravitated to each other once again.

“You’ve got me bewitched Sar,” He moaned as he entered me a few moments later.

He moved hard and fast, following one thrust with another, I had to bury my head into his chest to stop myself from crying out so loud that the entire building would hear me. Finally we came together, I relaxed in to Nick’s chest and he held me in his arms as we basked in the afterglow. Before either of us moved the intercom buzzed.

“Uh, Mr Jackson, I’m back with the coffee. Shall I bring it in?

Nick hastily pulled himself from me. He pulled his pants up and ran around to his desk, zipping himself up as he went.

“Uh, just leave it at the door. Miss Jenkins is still here.

“Oh.. Okay.” Janie replied

Nick stood back up and grabbed my pants from the floor. He handed them to me and I stood up. I pulled my underwear and pants back on and straightened myself up.

“You’re engaged Nick, we shouldn’t be doing this.” I said, the guilt of again having sex with a engaged man began to eat at me. Amazing, earth shattering, forget everything sex, but still completely guilt ridden. What kind of person was I becoming?

“I know. I will deal with that.

“Deal with it?

“I’ll call the engagement off. Aside from what you think of me, I don’t usually behave this way. I thought I loved Amelia and then I met you… and all I can think about is spending every waking moment with you underneath me,” He whispered, as he stood there in front of me, I looked up, his face looked innocent, like he was very confused and I knew what he was feeling.

What was happening between us was like a primal force of nature though, and I wasn’t completely sure it was worth passing up potential love with the person he was engaged to.

“Lust,” I began. “Is not a suitable reason to end a love affair. You thought you loved her before you met me, so why ruin that for sex?

Nick took a couple of steps back and looked at me, he nodded and walked back around to his chair.

“I guess you’re right.” was all he said as he sat down.

“I’ve found a place to stay. I’ll be out by tonight.” I said, Nick looked up, his face flashed with something I couldn’t read, As quickly as he looked up, he looked back down. Sure I hadn’t got the place for sure yet, but I was hopeful.

“Is it safe?” He replied.

“It’s with other staff members from here. So yes. Uh about the money, I know you didn’t mean to make me feel like a paid whore, but I do. So can you arrange to have it taken out of my next pay please.” I asked softly, I didn’t want to wind him up or tease him anymore, but it had to be said, it was how I felt. Nick didn’t look up at me, just replied with a short. “Fine.

I walked to the door, but before I could open it Nick cleared his throat

"Sarah, are you... you know on anything?" He said as calmly as he could.

It took a second to work out what he meant, He was asking about protection, I blushed when I realized. I nodded quickly without turning back around.

I stood there at the door, like a moron for a minute. I wanted to say something, but nothing seemed like the right thing to say so I opened the door and left without another word.

All I can think about is spending every waking moment with you underneath me

The words ran around in my head, as I closed the office door behind me. I resisted the urge to do the teenage girl thing and sigh dramatically and lean up against the closed door. Half because Janie was eyeballing me as I walked through the waiting room and half because pining was futile. I was still far to damaged from my upbringing to fall in to a lustful sex driven relationship. Besides, there was no way I could compete with the person Nick loves.

“Joshua mentioned you’re looking for a place,” Janie said with a grin. “I’m one of the other roommates.

“Oh!” I replied with shock I stopped and walked to Janie’s desk. She stood up and held out her hand

“So, I’m Janie. I’m 23 and I’m Nick’s PA. I like music and dancing, and my favorite food is sushi.” She laughed as she pulled her hand from mine and sat back down.

“I’m Sarah. I’m 18. Just. I love music too.

“Wow, only 18!” Janie said shocked.

“Yeah, I left home as soon as I could. I’m really very mature, well most of the time.” I smiled.

Janie smiled back and nodded.

“You’re already more mature than Josh, he’d have made a joke about farts or penises by now. I’ll see you in around 40 minutes for lunch yeah. You’ll meet Marc. He’s kind of my erm… friend with benefits.” She remarked a hint of a blush flourished on her cheeks. It was a little strange that she'd blurted out intimate details about her love life, but I was kind of thankful, because it diminished the very real possibility of me putting my foot in my mouth.

I let out a small chuckle and nodded. We stood there for a second before I realized she was waiting for me to speak.

“Great, see you then Janie. Thanks!" I said cheerily as I turned and walked from the office.

Having a stable home was going to be great, but for some reason, I just couldn’t get Nick off my mind. His touch haunted my thoughts as I worked and I almost wrote him an email 3 times in the 40 minutes leading up to lunch.

I thought I loved Amelia and then I met you.

What had that even meant? Did he think he had more than just sexual feelings for me? It couldn’t. Why would it. Why would someone like him be interested in me like that, less than 24 hours after first meeting?

When Lunch rolled around Janie, Josh and someone I’d not met yet stood in my cubicle.

I signed out of my computer and Janie introduced me to Marc before we walked out of the office into the main corridor toward the Elevator. At that moment Nick walked out of the office, I prayed he wasn’t headed down stairs; the awkwardness was something I would love to avoid. However as we stood waiting for the elevator doors to open, Nick walked up behind us.

“Mr Jackson!” Joshua called out. “How’s things man?

Janie and Marc turned around to look at Nick and I felt obligated to do the same, rather than look stupid, or worse arouse suspicion. Nick looked at me before he turned his glance to Josh. Janie noticed and her elbow gently dug in to my side. I looked over at her and she raised her eyebrow while cocking her head in Nick’s direction. I shook my head subtly.

“hello Joshua, I’ve been better, but I can’t complain. How’s the IT department going?” Nick replied finally.

“It’s great, things are coming along, I’ve been working on the website. Cleaning it up and stuff.

“I’ve noticed, it’s looking really clean Josh. Keep up the good work.

Josh flashed Nick a large smile, and I knew that Josh was sucking up for business prospects, but right now I just wanted to ignore Nick was even around. Before Josh could say anything, the elevator doors opened and we all filed in.

“God. Hope the elevator doesn’t go on the fritz again.” Josh said. “I mean, small areas and flatulence are hardly a cohesive combination.

Janie elbowed me again and whispered. “see!

I looked over at Nick however, at the mention of a broken elevator. He must have had the same thought because his eyes were squarely on mine, a small cheeky smirk on his beautiful face.

When we reached the ground floor and filtered out of the lift after picking up four others on various floors along the way, Nick slipped away without another word. I followed the others to a nearby cafe and we talked logistics of rent and bills. Luckily we all got on like a house on fire. Even though I was the youngest by 5 years, maturity wise, aside from the joker Joshua was painting himself as, I was on par with them.

“So, I’ll pick you up tonight from your current place and help you move in?” Josh offered with a grin.

I sipped my coffee and shook my head. I had no idea what would happen if I said what I was actually thinking.

‘Oh, I’m staying at our bosses place. I’m only leaving because I keep having completely hot, but completely illicit sex with him.

“I’m literally living out of a suitcase, I’ve uh, got a couple of errands to do after work, but thanks.” I lied, hoping to throw Josh off the scent. It must have worked, because he nodded and we all began talking about roommate drinks.

At 1:45pm we headed back to work. The rest of the day was relatively uneventful until 4:30pm when I got an email.

Amelia.

My stomach and heart dropped, but I wasn’t sure whether it was because Amelia was coming home early, or whether Janie had picked up on it being something I needed, or wanted to know.

I heart thumped against my chest, I wasn’t at all comfortable with anyone knowing that Nick and I had crossed moral boundaries. No matter how amazing it had been.

Before I had a chance to think about it too much my email beeped again.

From: Nick Jackson Nikolai@bookedout.com

To: Sarah Jenkins SJenkins@bookedout.com

Subject: Hello.

Hello Sarah,

I’m leaving work in about 20 minutes. If you’d like a ride back to mine to collect your things, reply and let me know.

Thank you for putting everything in perspective for me. I’ve requested my fiancee return home early.

Nick.

I’m not sure why, but suddenly I felt light headed and sick. Yay for him, I’d put his love life in perspective by being his play thing for a day.

His protective, sensitive and humorous moments were what made me want to be around him. I replied with a yes, I couldn’t say anything in regards to Amelia’s early return. It hurt to much.
