CHAPTER FOUR

Mandy, the babysitter of Taylor's triplet did not find it funny having to wait inside the limousine with the three children; the children were difficult to control. They were two boys and a girl; three years old but behaved like a teenager playing and giggling all around the car. Elmina, the girl however sat quietly in a corner silently giggly to herself and playing with a Barbie doll she couldn’t even see. Mandy felt sorry for the girl who hasn’t even spent many years on earth but yet has gone through so much. She remained quiet, her personality was so adorable, she had the same face as her mother; the lush lips, the gooey eyes, they were so bright one could get lost just by looking at her eyes. The only features she didn’t share with her mother was her hair; which was blond like her father. She wondered when Taylor would summon up the courage to tell Justin Crew he had children; she knew the girl would not do it willingly unless pushed to do so. She hoped someone will help nudge her in that direction soon enough. Mandy couldn’t because of the tight leash Taylor had on her.

Jeremy, one of the boys soon came to stand in front of her, pouting his lips in anger with a broken toy car in his hands with his brother Jerry crying beside him.

She picked up Jerry cooing him; "What happened to my baby?” she asked

“He…ee… broke my toy” an angry Jeremy answered, his left hand had bunched in a fist while he used his right hand to throw the toy away, it landed close to Elmina who jolted at the sound of the toy landing close to her.

Jeremy seeing what he did to his sister quickly paddled to her side and picked up the toy putting it in her hands. Jerry also began to push her wanting to be put down, she set him down and he immediately went to join his siblings who he embraced and they all fell to the ground giggling. What a set of strange children, she thought.

“Mandy, where is mommy?" Elmina asked fixing her icy blue eyes on Mandy, even though Mandy knew the girl couldn’t see a thing, still couldn’t helped but feel a chill at the girl’s stare. Where the hell was Taylor? She decided to give her a call when the door of the car screeched open and a heavily disheveled Taylor came in panting heavily.

“Were you followed?” asked Mandy

“I think so let’s get out of here” answered Taylor.

“Don’t tell me you came here from the hospital direct?” Mandy questioned giving her a quizzical look.

Taylor sighed "I'm not stupid, I did not hide them for three years for nothing, I was running due to something else” she responded hurriedly.

“ And what’s that if I may ask?" Mandy questioned

“None of your business" came the reply from Taylor as she bent to scoop up Elmina to her chest. The boys holding on to her clothes, both trying to tell her something at the same time.

Mandy looked at the scene and kept quiet, she knew any advice she gave would be shun as easily as Taylor just did, and she really hoped the girl got found out soon. She has six children of her own to care for and knew the pain of a parent being away from their children not to even mention not knowing they exist. Mandy shook her head in annoyance. She couldn’t say anything to Justin because they had been made to sign a confidentiality agreement when they started the job with Taylor.

Taylor ignored her soon after that, and concentrated fully on her children as they whisper sweet nonsense to her. She caressed her daughter’s head softly all the while chanting all is well in her heart, she shouldn’t let what Evelyn said get to her.

“Mummy, I wan…t to draw your face” Elmina said to her mother. Taylor was taken aback, she quickly sat up to steady her shaking feet.

“You want to draw mummy?” asked Taylor for confirmation sake.

“Yes” the girl screamed in excitement, clapping her hands “I want to see you”

“Alright baby” she could never deny her children anything they wanted, because she was making them live a lie. She wants to make up for that by giving them anything they asked for. They were homeschooled, as the world couldn’t know who they were. The boys looked so much like Justin, it would not be difficult to trace the children to him if they were ever seen, and people were too snoopy at Red Valley, they might put a snapshot of them on the internet. She had to take precautions.

They drove in quietly to her house. The house was a five bedroom duplex, located deep in the roots of Houston. She had sold her apartment three years ago when she found out that she was pregnant with triplet and bought this mansion which was secluded from other residents. She had picked the color of her children’s room, she had furnished the house under the disguise of her having her sister’s children stay there.

Immediately the car screeched to a halt, she quickly escorted her children into the house where they will hopefully be till the specialist she had contacted from South Africa where she had seek coverage to give birth to her children. Elminna’s condition hadn’t been from birth, she just suddenly developed it someday, maybe gradually though since she hadn’t really stayed with them. A month ago, Mandy had called her and expressed the need for Elminna to see a specialist, the doctor in South Africa had referred her back to an ophthalmologist at Houston. It hadn’t been an easy decision to make but she had to do it for the sake of her daughter. Her appointment date was close; Taylor knew she needed to devise a strategy on how to get Elminna to the Hospital as the doctor said she wanted to run tests on her. She would have to cross that bridge when she gets to it, she thought.

Her mind flickered over to Justin for a minute, she then shook her head like a besotted cow. He should never know they existed, If he did he would kill her because it was her fault they had broken up in the first place. The news Evelyn gave her wasn’t good either, she had no choice than to avoid the girl because she has nothing but bad news.

Recovering from her thoughts, she realized she was the only one in the living room, Mandy must have taken the kids for a bath, she thought. She decided to give herself a rest, she went to her room showered for a very long time, finally satisfied with her bath, She wore her robe and hopped to her children’s room to read them their bed time stories before they slept, when she heard the sound of Mandy running over to her.

“I hope you are not being chased by a Christmas cow that suddenly got loose?” Taylor asked.

“It would have been better if it were that” Mandy said her voice a little bit high pitched, she looked so flustered.

“What?” she asked confused, the woman wasn’t making any sense

“Justin and Evelyn are downstairs waiting for you” Mandy said apologetically

“Why the hell did you let them in my house without my permission?" Taylor screamed, raking her hands through her perfectly washed hair.

“You wouldn’t answer when I knocked on the bathroom door, and besides I have never heard of a lowly worker like me turning away celebrities from their door before” Mandy explained lamely

Taylor couldn’t help but exclaim “Mandy, this is my house, and I will do what I wish with it”

“See how you got your panties in a twist, I was just joking with you, Jeremy saw a picture of Justin on TV and asked me why the man on TV looks so much like them?"

Taylor’s head turned 360 degrees upon hearing that, Mandy also turned 360 to study her expression, Mandy had been waiting for this day.

“What should I tell him?” Mandy asked.

"What?"
