Dark Blood

The moon starts to become luminous as its phases emitted the light from the leafville city.

The villagers believed that there were raid sabotaging their place during night due to streak missing persons and reported death without any reasons. Making the city filled with idiotic rumors like, aliens are coming their way to abduct people and others concluded the myth of the evil spirits roaming around the houses at midnight.

One of the houses, lived an 8 years old girl named Ai along with her sister Lizzie and her parents. Ai parents knew along the truth behind the hoax rumors, there were vampires slaughtering humans that uses stealth and cunning moves to hunt its prey.

Ai woke up to the sound of people talking in a hush tone and open her eyes as a yawn left her lips. She got out on the bed and slowly put her slippers on, walking towards the door where she could hear the noise louder as she walks nearby.

Because of curiosity, her tiny fist carefully reach and twist the doorknob, avoiding to make any noise. She swung the door narrowly, enough to take a peek outside.

"You need to get the kids," It was her mother voice obviously talking to her father in a low tone, it sounds terrified.

"They intrudes the house. Go get the kids, hide them at the secret spot!" Her father whisper-yelled at her mother, with the same tone as the latter. She adopted the thought that her parents were having a quarrel to something. Without hesitating, she rush downstairs, making her stomp overhead within the house.

Her eyebrows met in confusion as she found her parents hiding at the corner with their body shuddered in horror. She then shifted her gaze at the door that banged so loud. She conclude a monster attempt to come inside.

At the same time, she heard incoherent scream blended with the sounds of people tormenting, causing Ai to feel frightened. The girl knew something's wrong happening and she wants to know it, but her parents told her to hide.

They ascend upstairs and headed at her sister's room. Once they inside, she found her sister sleeping peacefully on its bed, but then she was awaken by the noise. Her father took a long nervous sigh after locking the door and look around for any suspicious movements.

"What's happening?" Lizzie ask in a soft mild voice, her eyes were squinting due to early arouse as a yawn escape her lips. "What's that noise? it scares me.."

The woman face soften as she sees her little ones agitated by the mingled cries outside. She knelt before her kids and cover their ears. The woman knew there are no place to explain the horrible truth, but if she did, would they understand?

"Its okay. Mama is here." The woman lulled her precious angels by singing the song she used to sang when they were infant. This is the only way to steer their mind from the dark reality.

Upon staring, she saw how Ai longing for the truth and how it reacts with the pain she has. The woman slowly caress her cheek as her eyes start to swollen and tears were threaten to fall anytime.

"Take care of your sister ok? Whatever happen, don't go out from the hiding spot." The woman muffled, her voice crack inwardly. She can't accept the fact that she wouldn't able to see her angels again. Once they call home is no place for them anymore. What unrequited fate lies ahead along their way.

"But how about you and father?" Ai inquired, having a puzzled look on her face. As much as the woman want to be with them, she can't. Death whisper next to her and she knew her time in earth are slowly fading.

The woman took a glance at her husband whose breathing heavily and resting his body against the door, there were salient scratches and wounds to its skin. "Mama and papa are going to be safe. Our priority is our little angels."

Ai did'nt follow up by another question anymore. She knew there are running out of time. Instead she opt to obey her parents, keeping her innocence to herself.

Once again, before bidding a dark melancholy farewell, her mother kisses their forehead before letting them hide at the spot. Her last glance, her last kiss and her last words to them, make her heart torn into peaces. Wallowed in a deep fire of pain, Ai mouthed 'I love you' to her.

Behind the door, hides the monsters who've mercilessly slaughters human along with the thousand families that lived within the leafville walls, no one would be spared.

They flinch when the door starts to crash, it was poured by a bullets around making holes inside. With a few seconds of attempt, the door crash and create a loud thud. The woman and her husband duck over the wooden table as the man took out his MP4 riffle gun from the drawer situated beside them.

Vampires are no ordinary creatures, they are ten times stronger than a usual individual. The man knew a riffle would be futile against them. But what choice did they have? At least he'll die fighting back.

On the same time, Ai starts to cry without any sound, she then heard the Room's door crashed followed by a silence. After a few seconds of defeaning silence. She heard a loud spluttered of bullets, sparing her ears to hear the holocaust outside.

She wince in pain as she held her sister close to her. What wrong did she do, to offer her a life like this? Her family lives in a simple contented life, but everything was seize to exist in just a snap.

What life is there to see?!

The only thing that makes hope either one of them to survive is to "Run.." She muffled to her sister.

"Let's run together." She knew they could be shot on the spot but they will never see the other side atleast they'll try. And she promised to her parents that they will get out here alive.

She take a peek outside, when she wish she had never did. The darkness did nothing to comfort her fragile heart. She feared the creatures that had fangs, they killed her parents right before her eyes, showing no remorse, when it had done nothing but offer her love and tenderness.

There's nothing they can do beside sitting and hiding there forever. Death is coming their way and they need to fight back.

"Its ok, we will do it together." She whispered, her vision starts to blurry because of the water invading her eyes. She squeezed gently her sister's right hand. "I will never let go of you. If you have been shot, I will let myself die as well. Atleast I could make it out with you."

Finding some perfect time to rush outside and evade their treacherous destiny. She began counting. Mouthing one to three and then. "GO!"

With the signal, they gather all their strength as she hold her sister's right hand and accelarated outside, not to have a chance of letting it go. One of the vampire shouts and shoots into the air. They start running zig zags knowing it would be more difficult to shoot them in zigzag.

"Just run. Don't look back!" They heard a gun fired at them. They keep on running whilst hands intertwined to each other. Lizzie run slower than her.

"We need to get on the stairwell." She demanded, speeding up. Its risky but what choice did they have? The vampires haven't gotten there yet, so they still have a chance to make it.

"Don't let those humans get to the stairs!" The man shouted and shot another bullet, making Ai and Lizzie halt. They caught up into the corner.

"Lizzie?" Ai snap her sight to her sister, her eyes got widened at the spot. Her sister's shirt is bleeding, too much blood panned out that it would be impossible for her to survive.

She had been shot.

No, please no! Her thoughts cries out. Everything falls into decelerated interim as she watch her sister limp and collapse on the land.

Thorn into pieces, she plopped down next to her and held her sister who struggles to hold onto life within her little arms. Her gaze fell upon her sister's olive eyes. As she met those, she can decipher the sadness in it.

"You can make it." She whimpered. Reality makes her worst nightmare as she watch her sister dying slowly till her last breath.

She has nothing left, to stay in this cruel world. Once a blessing had been seize to her. What reason left to live? Her family had been taken away from her, and everything is fired up. Vampires are succeeding to head their way against humans.

There's no reason for her to run, even if she did. She will meet her demise on the way. The best way is to meet her fate right beside her sister, thus she could finally reunited with them in the path of second life.

"Poor little girl." She slowly move her gaze upwards and found herself staring in a crimson eyes of a man. The same man who had killed her parents and sister. Having a stain of blood dripped on its lips and its clothes. The thought that the blood came from her beloved parents makes her body trembled as she hold tightly her lifeless sister close to her.

"Spare us." She pleaded, hoping that the vampire would melt his heart and spare her to live. But the latter beamed a crazy smirk as he stalked near the poor girl. His eyes glistened with excitement.

"Spare? I wonder where that word came from." He fumed, followed by an evil yammering burst of laughter.

"Oh, how I love to stare under those pitiful creatures." He added before revealing his long sharp fangs. Before he could perform the action, a loud bang was echoed on the air.

The next thing that the poor girl saw, was a blood dripping from the vampire's forehead as it limps his body before facing the ground. It had been shot.

She swivel around to see a large man strode into the room holding a large gun. Behind him followed several more men each with in identical uniform. The Flame Phoenix Hunters.

The man brought his eyes upon the poor girl who have been relentlessly crying in pain, he then shifted his gaze upon the lifeless girl in her arms.

"What are we going to do with her?" One of the men behind him asked.

"I don't know." he replied. The girl looked at him with its bloodshot eyes due to recently crying.

"Don't worry we will provide a haven for you." The man says in a soft calm tone.

"Are you one of them?" Ai asked.

"No. We are gathering the remnants of humanity, in order to retrieve our home and to perish the conspiracy of vampires." He answered.

"Please, do so.." She whispered, bowing her head and fell her gaze on the land.

"You hate vampires right? Come with me. I'll give you the power you need."
