[Earlier that day, after Jessie bumped into Zyan and ran away from him]

"Hey man, I saw someone bumped into you, Why did you let her get away with it?" asked Chen as he approached Zyan from the back, seeing him holding two keys on his hand made him wonder who did he bullied this time

"You have two lockers? really?" asked Chen as He was about to take Jessie's key from his hand but Zyan was quick enough to dodge Chen's hand that made him look at Zyan with confusion in his eyes

"What's going on bro? aren't you going to share?" asked Chen as he raised an eyebrow towards Zyan, attempting to snatch the keys once again but failed for the second time making him annoyed at Zyan

"No, because this is not mine you idiot" said Zyan as Chen looked at him with boring eyes, folding his arm on his chest

"You know, you can be quite greedy sometimes" said Chen as Zyan smirked at him in return, leaning his back on the locker he just snatched from other kid

"I know, mind your own business" said Zyan as he looks at where Jessie ran, Jessie stole his attention and now, she's going to pay for it

"What about a bet?" asked Chen as it seems to have perked up Zyan's interest making him look at Chen with interest in his eyes as Chen smirked as it's his turn to make a bet this year

"Brian, Me, Ethan and Angelo is done with our bets, this year it's your turn" said Chen as Zyan nodded in agreement

"Go on" said Zyan as he looks at Chen, thinking of bets he can come up with

"I'll give you a month to make her fall in love with you. and at the end of the year, dump her but here's the catch. You need to take her virginity as well" said Chen as simple as that making Zyan think about it as it seems quite hard for him

"What's in it for me?" asked Zyan as he raised his eyebrows at Chen, waiting for his answer

"We'll get you the car you've been wanting for years" said Chen as Zyan's eyes widened, making it hard for him to refuse the bet

"Alright, leave it to me" said Zyan as he shake hands with Chen with smirks on their lips.

Ever since they attended Middle school, the five of them has been making bets, taking turns and earning things from them. They always go around, Dating someone and after a month or two, they'll eventually leave them in the meanest way they could come up with. Relationship is just another word for the gang and they never take things seriously.

They do whatever they want. they never think about the consequences that might come after. The only thing that they want is entertainment and their kind of entertainment is playing with other people's hearts. They go around breaking them without regrets and earning money in return. Countless hearts were broken through their middle school and in college.

But things came into a full stop when Chen pushed someone too far. The gang knows that he's slowly falling for her and not the other way round. But Chen chose to end things with her, since his pride came first before his feelings. She left him, he was heart broken but the gang didn't say or did anything as the bet was nothing for them.

They were okay with Chen having a relationship and breaking the bet because their friendship comes first. But Chen doesn't want to loose his face and pride the same time. that's why he did the unexpected. Chen told her everything. Every last bit of their bet on her. Chen chose to hurt himself than his pride. So he chose to leave her rather than loosing his pride.

For awhile, they stopped making bets and focused on their studies, but after almost a year, Chen's the one who started making bets again. The gang were worried about him but they went along his bets as they know, he's still heart broken from the past. and this time, it's Zyan's turn.

"We'll meet you later at lunch. I'll talk to the other guys" said Chen as Zyan nodded at him

"I'll see you later" said Chen as he waved goodbye to Zyan, going to their room first to tell the guys about Zyan's bet

Oddly enough, Zyan felt something in his heart. He felt a connection between him and Jessie but Zyan shrugged it off, thinking that it's nothing. But he's about to make the biggest mistake in his life.

[Back to the Present]

Zyan is carrying two bags on his shoulder as Jessie's walking in front of him. From time to time, Zyan finds himself staring at her back, his mind was blank and he felt comfortable. Zyan never felt this way before, and him feeling this towards a nerdy girl with messy hair? he sure is loosing his mind.

"You know she'll melt if you continue staring at her like that" Ariaj whispered at him as Zyan was startled by the sudden voice he heard as he's staring at Jessie mindlessly

"W-What are you talking about?" asked the flustered Zyan as he quickened his steps as he finally made it beside Jessie

"What did you two talk about?" asked Jessie as she's still cannot believe what was happening. She's just a normal girl with a normal life but all of a sudden she became the talk of the town.

"Nothing. Don't mind that" said Zyan as the two walk side by side, walking down the pavement as the leaves dances through the breeze making Jessie shiver in cold

If this was another woman, Zyan wouldn't mind her freezing to death as he doesn't care about her. But this is Jessie we're talking about. Zyan halted his footsteps as he took his jacket off, placing it on Jessie's shoulder, making her jump at the sudden action. She's still getting over the fact that someone's courting her and the most important detail is she doesn't even know how to date someone.

Zyan chuckled at her reaction, patting her hair in the process as he smiled genuinely towards her. Zyan felt comfortable around Jessie. His feelings were calm, his heart beating at a steady pace, but every time Jessie would steal a glance at him, his calm world would suddenly shake violently as he couldn't control his emotions. Zyan has never felt this way before, even to the girls he dated in the past. No Girl has made him overly cautious about himself , not until he saw a girl, walking towards him with books stuffed on her arms, oblivious around the chaotic world around her.

The incident this morning was not because of Jessie's clumsiness but because Zyan chose to act like he's tying his shoelaces. Jessie made him attracted to her with unknown reasons. Maybe because of her clumsiness? or maybe because he still hasn't found someone to play with again?

or maybe it's the latter

Zyan couldn't grasp the reason why, but all he knows is that he needs to win their bet. But far from those genuinely looking eyes, someone behind him can be seen glaring at him as he's scared that what happened to Chen might happen to him. Brian doesn't want to see his friends weeping over a girl because they chose Pride over Love.

"You know, I can look at you forever" said Zyan as Jessie tripped her foot against a stone making her stumble forward, but because of Zyan's fast reflexes, two bags were thrown on the ground, Zyan bending forward as he caught Jessie on his arms, making their faces dangerously close.

Deep breaths, red faces, hearts beating faster than how fast a horse can run, butterflies flying around their stomachs, those were the feelings inside their body. The two gazes at each others eyes, a spark between the two pulsated throughout their body as they stare deeper into each others' dark orbs.

"I like you" said Zyan as he stare deeper on her eyes, seeing an innocent woman behind those thick lenses, oblivious about how cruel the world can be, behind those eyes lies an optimistic woman that's too fragile to be played with. Unknowingly, guilt lingers around Zyan's heart as he continue to stare on her alluring eyes
