Background Information

This is a part fantasy story in which werewolves do exist however this has very little significance to the overall story. Mostly unlike other werewolf stories this will focus on the people adding only a slight amount of fantasy to this general romance novel.

The werewolf communities in this world are rare and wide spread. There are 3 kinds:

1) The Rural. These are the types that are inbred and often have drastic and incredibly awful mutations should the young survive through to adulthood. More often than not during adolescence, where a surge in hormones mean the body is able 'shift' or change into the alter form of wolf, these teens don't survive.

2) The Semi-Integrated. While these communities have ties with the human world and may use some of the resources of the human and outside world, they very much are self-dependent and consist entirely of werewolves. While many of the wolves in these towns will go and search for their mates during their early 20s, around half are required to return with their mates in order to sustain the population. They have a very traditional and strict ethos and gravitate strongly towards the preservation of werewolf culture.

3) The Fully-Integrated. This is the type of community where there is a small werewolf population within a large human one like in a city. This community of werewolves have loose rules and regulations with the occasional gathering for any important announcements that may affect the community greatly. They are liberal to the joining of others into the community as well as emigration out of the community.

Now there's one more thing you'll need to know. What are Carters? And what makes them so special?

Well... back in the evolution of man, some tribes of northern America used to intimately involve themselves with wolves. Be it due to fate, magic, God, or nature but offspring were actually viably produced that then grew to be different to homo-sapiens. The wolf men then slowly developed the skills to 'shift' or change into wolves at the full moon and men in the daylight. Another change occurred and the early weres were able to control the transition between man and wolf. The Carters were one of the first band of werewolves to be able to do this.

It was then believed that incest during the early evolution of them kept the gene pool surprisingly strong and made them stronger, faster and more dominating than regular male werewolves. They also possess a life-long mate bond. Which means once they meet their soul-mate they must bite them during sexual intercourse, when we both orgasm into each other, there is a surge of particular enzymes which causes a rare bond between them to form; this means that when death comes they go together.

However, soul-mate attraction is a simple tug at the pair to each other but the rest...is up to them.

Now...join these Carter brothers as they each try to win over their mates and face their own individual challenges whilst trying to live up to their namesake.
