CHAPTER 2

CHAPTER 2

When night came, Adan decided to go home.
For a moment, he first went through the library of the university hospital where he studies to pick up the book he needed. Then head to the supermarket to buy food. When he got home, the lights were off, so he wondered.

“Annalise? Your brother is here,” he called his sister, but it did not answer him.

Assuming she was already asleep, he decided to clean his body first. When it was over, the whole house was still quiet. He glanced at his watch and saw it was too early. It wasn’t his sister’s bedtime. Adan Javier felt nervous as he peered into his room. Later he hurried there.
He saw his sister lying on the floor when he opened the door.

“Annalise!

He tried to shake her to wake her up, but nothing happened, so he quickly picked it up and laid it on his thigh.

“Annalise!
I'm here. What happened? Wake up!"

Adan noticed the pallor of it even her lips. He tapped it again and after a while, it slowly opened its eyes.

"Adan…" She said weakly in his name and looked up at him. He immediately touched its neck and head. He was shocked to feel the intense heat coming out of his youngest sister's whole body.

“Have you been like this before? You should have told me you were sick before I left home!”

He could no longer hide the irritation in his voice because of the extreme concern. Annalise’s resistance has always been weak. She has been in a life and death situation several times, so every time something bad happens to her, he feels that he is also dying because of extreme nervousness.

When it did not answer him, he tried to feel its heartbeat. Next was her wrist.

“Dammit, Annalise! I must take you to the hospital!” He complained that his sister's condition was deteriorating.

Adan quickly took a sock for her and arranged for her to sit down.

“Dammit! You are really hard-headed! Why do you always do this? I told you when something hurts you, you must tell me right away!” He kept preaching to her as he felt her just staring at him and fainting.

"I-I'm fine…" He heard her say in a low voice, so Adan quickly turned to her.

“You're fucking burning! What do you mean you're fine?” Adan cries out to his sister.

"You should be ready once we get back here," he threatened and quickly put on her jacket.

Just as he was about to lift it, he heard his cellphone ringing due to a call, so he was stunned. He was confused and immediately took his cellphone from his pocket. When he saw Amelia called, and he immediately answered it.

“Hi… hi, Amelia,” he replied in a confused voice. “Annalise is sick. I must take her to the hospital. I’ll call you later—”

“H-help me…”

Adan was immediately stunned when he heard even the trembling of Amelia's voice on the other line.

“H-help me, Javier…"

“Why? What's the problem?" He asked and forced himself to calm down. He felt his heart pounding because of the mixed emotions that flooded him.

"H-he's dead… I killed him…" Amelia said and continued to cry on the other line.

Adan felt his whole world stop when he heard Amelia's painful scream. It seemed so scary and didn’t know what to do. Adan's mind began to be confused because of the sobs he heard so he could not even think.

"What are you saying? Who's dead?” He asked his girlfriend confusedly.

“J-Javier… I killed him… ah, no… not yet. Help me. Treat him… please!

Nervously, Adan forced himself to calm down because of the extreme tension he was feeling. Amelia continued to moan on the other line so he couldn't understand anything even more. What's going on, Amelia?

“Amelia, calm down first. What's happening? Where are you? What are you saying?" He asked calmly.

“You are a doctor, aren't you? You must have learned how to save a person’s life! That is what you are taught at university!” It bothered him.

He was devastated when he heard that. Amelia's voice was full of fear, so his whole soul was alarmed. Only now did he hear its frightened voice again. He can no longer remember the latter because it was a few years ago after everything that happened to his beloved woman.

“Amelia…”

“I-I’m scared… I’m scared, Javier. Help me…” Amelia's sobs grew louder.

Adan felt the gradual splitting of his heart when he heard its painful cry. He felt at those times that he could only hear his girlfriend's voice, so he was almost crazy. He bit his lower lip and then cursed repeatedly.

"Where are you? I'll come to you. Where are you?"

When Amelia told the place where she was, he hurriedly turned off that call. Only then did he remember his dying sister.

He turned his gaze to his sister Annalise, who was still weak and looked like a white pale paper. He felt the weakness of his body as he stared at Annalise. It seems to think that it is still okay. That his sister would be eventually fine, and once he called Marco today to tell him
to take Annalise to the hospital immediately, she would be fine.

He knew in himself that he could not let Amelia go. He promised his girlfriend that he would never let her get hurt again. He could not afford not to fulfill that.

"A-Adan… don't leave… don't leave me…" He heard Annalise say so Adan's heart became heavier. It even clung to the hem of his shirt.

He was just blown away in the air. He had nothing else on his mind but Amelia's condition, and it seemed that Annalise's condition was gradually being erased.

“S-something happened to your sister Amelia, Anna. I must go to her,” he said goodbye.

“We're going to the hospital when I come back, so wait for your older brother here, okay? I'll be quick,” he assured.

“I-I'm not well, Adan! W-why are you leaving… don't leave me, please…” Annalise begged him, so he lost himself even more.

He grabbed his head and slammed it hard into the air. Adan felt the panic inwardly. He knelt in front of his sister who continued to cry and handed her his cellphone.

“Call Marco. Here is his number. Say you need to be taken to the hospital. I'll be right back… I'll see you, okay? Promise,” he said and held out his hand in front of Annalise, but she violently pushed him away.

“I-I'm going to die! I'm going to die but you're still thinking about Amelia. If you go to her now, I will die…”

Adan closes his eyes tightly as he remembers Amelia's current situation wherever it is. After a while, he looked at his sister again.

“I’ll be right back, Annalise. Promise. I'll be back, so wait for me here, okay?” He finally told her and hurried to leave the house. Regardless of the catastrophe to be faced wherever it goes.

Adan almost flew the long-distance home to the university where Amelia was studying. She must have come home earlier but Amelia told him that her classmates invited her to drink for a while, while reviewing for the upcoming exam. And now, he doesn’t know, and he has no idea what happened. All he knew was that the woman he loved so dearly was in danger.

When he got to the classroom where Amelia was, the darkroom was exposed to him.
Only a small light was turned on because he knew there were no more students at this hour. Adan finally went inside and there he heard Amelia's weak sobs, so he quickly headed in the
direction where it was.
He was startled when a man on all fours exposed himself to him. It is bathed in its own blood. Next to it was a broken bottle with a stain of blood on it. It looks like it's dead. Adan's eyes quickly searched for Amelia. He saw it on the side of the long table there. It sat up and
buried its whole face on two knees.
It seemed very scared.

“Amelia…” Adan called her.

Not knowing what to think first; how and what will happen after tonight or who will imprison the two of them…

Because when he promised Amelia that he would protect her no matter what happened to her, he also promised himself that he was willing to take all her weight and suffering until the end.
