Chapter 3: It's Been A While

Corciel's Pov:

My movements were becoming automatic, as my mind wandered to my mate. I wonder if she would care, if I went up there, found her mother and tortured her. Just until I got an answer from her as to why she decided to treat my mate like trash. After that, I'd kill her mother and make sure she rots in hellfire like a fucking pig.

A foot sweep under my feet, I started to fall back. I shifted my weight and my leg position until I was leaning forward while crouching a little. I clenched my jaw tightly as the tip of a needle dripping with poison got closer and closer to my eye.

"I nearly took your eye out that time", those words came out mixed with laughter from Rouen as he retracted his deadly quell back into his tattered torso.

"Keep laughing and I'll turn you into a pile of ash", I threatened him in a low, bored tone. My eyes glowed with the power of hellfire that I and those in my bloodline, control.

Rouen lifted his arms up, locking his fingers together and locking them behind his head. His laughter died but the smile stayed on his face, "You're very testy today. What's up?"

I closed my eyes as I smothered my power. I let out a sigh as I looked at Rouen. Wondering when would the day come where he will stop trying to break the boundaries I set between us.

It was rare for demons to make friends with other demons.

It was even rarer that they lasted as long as ours has. Demons tend to look for weakness in everything and try to exploit them for power, pleasure or out of sheer boredom. That is why I usually keep Rouen on a need to know basis.

The fact that I was thinking about my mate, was definitely something he didn't need to know. The idea of Demons having a mate was thought of as a myth. Even I believed it, until the day I held that little human in the palm of my hand as I gave her life once again.

"I just need to recenter myself", I told him offhandedly, knowing that if I outright ignored him, Rouen would just keep pestering me.

I left the sparring arena and went further into my mansion. The second I couldn't sense Rouen's power anymore, I used my power to leave my little slice of hell.

My existence settled in the dark alley beside my night club. I looked down at my black dormeuil suit with a red vest and the smoke that rose from my body.

I walked away from the smoke, knowing that it would recede in seconds.

I decided to make an appearance for the people. I walked around the front, to see the large crowd that formed.

There were whispers among the crowd as I walked past the line. I went straight to the entrance of the famed 3 story nightclub called Nis. Some of the women and men tried to get my attention, but I just ignored them.

With a nod of acknowledgment, I passed the bouncer and walked into the waiting room. The chipper dark-skinned girl smiled and started the usual greeting that is until she realized who she was addressing.

Her smile went from professional to more relaxed and natural, "Oh, Hello sir."

I gave her a nod of acknowledgment as I walked further into the actual club. Well more like the first level of it. The first level is just like any club, bathrooms, security, one wall dedicated to the bar, and a large dance floor and dj booth.

The second floor is a strip club, with private rooms, a waitress, and every dancer I hire is either a succbi or incubi. The third floor is my privet office as well as my co-owner Lilith's office.

I scanned the area as I walked through it for the sight of my sister. The natural scowl on my face started to deepen as I didn't spot her anywhere. I went over to the elevator, pressing the button to call it down.

I entered the elevator and waited for the doors to close. The second they did, I let the smoke from my inner hellfire to surround me and transport me into my office.

Lilith sat on my desk with an annoyed look on her face, her body covered in glitter as well as a red mesh outfit. She even went as far as to have her actual wings and tail showing.

I rolled my eyes at that as I spoke with clear annoyance in my voice, "Why can't you just use pros?"

"She really likes her new phone", She said as she shifted and recrossed her legs, offering me a coy smile.

Whatever annoyance I had, immediately dissipated at the mention of my mate. I walked further into the room, as I asked, "Really?"

"Yes, and she kept bugging me about ways to show her appreciation to you", She spoke with an annoyed look in her which didn't match her smile that's painted in fondness.

"As she should be, I am going to be the next king", I spoke with confidence.

My sister gave me a pissed off look, her eyes glowing dimly as she spoke with her teeth clenched, "I was talking. You know how I hate being interrupted. "

I let out a sigh and gestured for her to continue. She narrowed her eyes at me. I let out an exaggerated sigh as I spoke quickly, "Sorry."

"As I was saying. Which only got worse after I let it slip that you paid her phone bill in advance for a year," She pulled on a strain of her curl, stretching it out long, down to her shoulder, “I really will go crazy if I have to hear both of you whining about meeting each other”.

"Has the keeper of my mate, finally decided to let me introduce myself to my mate?", I asked her sarcastically as I stopped right in front of her.

“All I will say is don’t scare her off. You’ll get one shot at her perception of the first time you two have met”, With that said, she hopped off the desk and walked around me towards the elevator.

Written on a sheet of paper was the address to someplace, as well as the days and times that my mate works. I immediately turned around and pushed off my foot. Using my natural speed to reach her in one second, I hugged her against my chest. She let out a grunt then lifted her hands up, patting against my arms.

“Yeah, I know. I’m the best sister in the universe. Now get off, I’m hungry as the fire of hell”, She tilted her head back on my chest as she exclaimed dramatically.

“So I’m guessing, you wouldn’t be willing to share your meal with me?”, I asked her as I let her go and gave her a smile.

She sighed heavily as she turned to face me, “You know you’d be dead without me right?

“Yes”, I told her, not bothering to beat around the bush, this time.

“Do you have enough in you to shift in your more feminine form, or will I have to find someone very open minded down there?”, She asked me with a raised eyebrow as she stepped into the elevator.

“I have enough to shift”, I told her as I turned away from her and headed back to my desk.

I needed to do as much research as I could about this place that hired my mate. Happily, I found that Alexis wasn't working for any people that are usually used as kindling for hellfire. I was in the middle of checking the income and outcome of the money flow for the month when I heard my sister's voice.

It was as if her voice was right next to my ear, even though she wasn't, "Dinner's ready."

I sighed heavily as I stood from my chair. Ever since I held my mate in my hand, I've had the pleasure of feeding slowly stripped from me throughout the years. It kind of a biological push to be with my mate and pop out a few true match babies. Like my sister and I, demons who are all-around better than those who aren't the product of soulmates fucking.

I appeared in the room where my sister is, sitting on the bed, making out with some mortal man. I rolled my eyes hating that I had to feed incubi in me. I was never fond of that part of myself, I felt it was more of a distraction than anything good. Yet I learned the hard way that ignoring that part of me, is very deadly to me. I rolled my head around my shoulders, shifting into my more feminine form.

As I stepped out of the shadows, wearing the same outfit as my sister, the only difference being the color is black. I flicked my long curls back as I scowled at my sister, "You started without me again."

The kissing was broken, then the man looked at me with great interest, "Woah, who's this hottie?"

"This is my sister, you don't mind if we share you, right?", Lilith asked the man with an almost innocent quality to her voice.

The man laughed as a perverted expression took over his face, that looked more off-putting than sexy, "Hell Yeah. The more the merrier."

I mentally checked out after that, I allowed my instincts as an incubus to take over. I made sure not to kill the man as well as not to hog too much of his essence. My sister did say she was hungry, so I let her have her full first.

Lilith and I shared a few other guys before she was properly full. Once that was done I dragged her to my office.

“So, how was she today?”, I asked as I went behind my desk and started to see about the work that comes with owning a very popular night club.

I continued to do work as my sister told me all about my mate’s day. I went to my mortal home, which is just a simple penthouse. I got this place to share with my mate, Lilith helped me find a place that Alexis would agree with. I fell asleep on the large king-sized bed, dreaming of my mate.

I woke up early the next day, I cleaned my body the way humans do, I also changed my outfit a few times. I needed to look best for my mate. I checked the time and cursed, her shift already started. I closed my eyes and focus on the mark I left on her. I let it pull at my essence and followed it. I opened my eyes to the alley next to the coffee shop.

I walked out of the alley and entered the coffee shop. A growl started to build at the sight of a customer at my mate's station. I wanted to be her first customer of the day.

I got into the line that formed, I would be her sixth customer. The longer I had to wait the more irritated I became. Don't these humans know they are preventing a future king of hell from seeing his future queen?

And what a queen she appeared to be. Her skin warm and bright with the golden dark hue petals of an orange lily. Her lips equal in their fullness, yet their hue of pink was different, her lower lip is slightly lighter than her top.

A few inches to the right of her lips sat a mole, dark and emphasizing her brightness like the center of a sunflower. Her nose fit her face perfectly with its slender bridge and rounded tip. Her cheekbones soft and helped to show off the shape of her brown eyes.

A million things ran through my head. I stared at the face that seemed to change so much. Yet still, remain familiar after all these years. The only thing that passed my lips was very simple, "Hello."

She was pressing her fingers against the screen of the cash register. Forced on that task as she spoke to me. Her voice was different yet somehow the same as well. The words came out in a rapid session, her tone too peppy, "Oh hi, what can I get you?

My face settled on the usual scowl. I forced it to tone down a little. I didn't want the first expression she saw from me to be a scowl again. Why wasn't she looking at me yet?

My annoyance slipped into my tone as I spoke, "Just a black coffee."

"And can I", She looked up at me then pausing in her sentence as her eyes widen a fraction.

She scanned my face as I did hers, but her eyes wandered downwards. She was greedily taking in as much of my appearance as she could. She started to raise her eyes up and I smirked at her. I could practically hear her soul call out to me, ‘I'm yours.’ I watched as her cheeks flushed slightly, it added to the warmth of her skin.

She cleared her throat before she finally finished her sentence, " I'm sorry, sir. Can I have your name please?"

I allowed my smirk to take on a curler edge as I thought about telling her my actual name. Yet I held back, my sister could have told Alexis a number of horrible things about me. I didn't want the first time she meets me and remembers it, to be tarnished.

So I said, in a cryptic tone as she pressed more on the screen, "You may call me, Conner."

She raised an eyebrow as she looked up at me curiously. Her voice lost it's peppy and gain a teasing edge to it as well as sass, "So, I'm guessing that's not your real name."

I slipped my hands in my pockets to resist the urge to reach out and touch her. I tilted my head and I spoke in a matter-of-factly tone, "Conner is easier to spell and pronounce, Doll."

Her curiosity morphed to widen eyes, a flare of her nostrils as surprise took over her face. Her voice came out slightly higher in an octave, "Did you just call me Doll?"

I cooled my face until I showed no emotion. I pulled my eyebrows together as I spoke seriously. If I stayed this close to her for much longer. I might just steal her away from all of this.

I forced my tone to sound bored, "I'm not a patient man."

She let out a scoff before she looked down at the screen. Her voice matched mine, "That will be 2.45"
