V012 (The New World)

“Sir, V012 has awakened." A voice on the other end of the receiver said. The man that held the phone close to his ear as he looked out the window of the hospital room. His wife had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl. He slipped his hand into his front pocket turning around to see his wife sleeping soundly.

"I'll be on my way, Johnathan." Dr. James A. Kane said to Dr. Johnathan Smith before pressing the end button on his smartphone. Dr. James walked over to his sleeping wife. Pulling a chair up to the bed, caressing his wife’s cheek and getting up to kiss her forehead.

"Are you leaving?" she had asked when he was a step away from the door. Turning towards her, giving her a smile that he knew that she will always love. "Work called, I shouldn't be too long. I love you, my dear." He left without letting her say I love you back.

The drive to Dr. James’ work took him a little over an hour since the building was in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of the city. He was able to pull in while showing his badge and them letting him in. He was thankful that his usual parking spot wasn't taken. Parking and rushing out of his car to the building that was more like a maze instead of halls. He finally entered the lab that held V012 also known as Xandralyn. "Dr. Smith?" Dr. James called out to the scientist that was standing in front of their newly improved vampire. "Dr. Kane I'm glad you made it. How was the birth?" Dr. James asked Dr. Kane about his daughter’s birth. Dr. Kane smiled "The most beautiful moment I ever had in my life. I'll bring her around some time, so you all can see her. Now our Xandralyn, how is she doing?"

"Everything seems stable." Dr. Smith said checking on the vampire, who was in a white-like hospital gown. The vampire could understand every word the two scientists were saying. She held a blank stare as she blinked and looked around the white room. Dr. Kane patted Dr. Smith’s shoulder, making Dr. Smith move so Dr. Kane could get a better look at the vampire.

"Hello, I'm Dr. James Arthur Kane. I am the head scientist who created you." He spoke to the vampire. V012 looked at the scientist before opening her mouth. "Hello Dr. James Arthur Kane, I am V012." She said in a monotone.

"Yes, I know who you are V012. We also call you Xandralyn. If Xandralyn is too long for you we can give you a nickname."

"A nickname?" The vampire tilted her head and asked Dr. Kane. Dr. Kane nods his head while giving the vampire a warm smile. "Yes, a nickname. We can call you, Xandra, Xandy, Ralyn.” Dr. Kane explained to the vampire for her to understand.

"Those are many nicknames to choose from Dr. but I am not sure which one to choose.” She said giving Dr. Kane, a blank face. She wasn't able to put emotions in with her voice or facial expressions. That was a working purpose that the scientist wants to work on after the vampire got comfortable in her surroundings. "You don’t have to choose at this minute Xandralyn, why don’t we let the others pick your nickname. Would you like to change and meet the others."

V012 stared at the back of Dr. Kane’s head as they walk down the halls of nothing but white. Many people in the hall walked by congratulated Dr. Kane on his new vampire and his newborn daughter. He promised pictures to show later.

“Doctor?” V012 called out to him. Dr. Kane turned around to look at the vampire.

“Yes, Xandy?”

“Who is this daughter, everyone keeps talking about?” She questioned him. He wasn’t surprised that the vampire would show an interest in the topic that everyone is asking him about.

“Earlier today, before you woke up. My wife gave birth to my firstborn child, a baby girl. We named her Nerida May Kane. I’m hoping one day you and the rest of the vampires will get to meet her but for right now she is too small to be here.” They came closer and closer to a door as Dr. Kane explained to V012 of the special day. When in front of a door, Dr. Kane scanned his ID. The doors automatically opened to show 11 vampires at a table playing a game.

"WOO IN YOUR FACE ARIES!" A blonde shouted. As a guy with black hair groaned from being defeated by the blonde.

"Dr. Kane!" A black hair girl noticed Dr. Kane standing there with a smile from watching them get along.

"Well hello to you too Indira." Dr. Kane greeted and stepped to the side to show them the newly created vampire. "Everyone, I would like you to meet V012 also known as Xandralyn. Xandralyn this is Indira (V002), Aries (V001), Leo (V005), Camryn (V008), Onyx (V003), Vae (V006), Dimitri (V004), Kesley (V009), Sachi (V007), Randi (V010), Jun (V011).” Dr. Kane took his time introducing V012 to the other vampires, that were just like her. But she was supposed to be the new improve them.

"Finally we are all together" Indira took hold of Xandralyn’s hands, showing a motherly smile. “Come on, let’s sit down with the others. We all been dying to meet you. When Dr. Kane and Dr. Smith told us that they were doing another project, we couldn’t let them go without pestering them of who or what you were going to be. And now looking at you. They did a stunning job, and I can’t wait to meet you fully.” The vampire didn’t know what to do, the only thing that could confine her is by getting a nod and an encouraging smile from the doctor. Indira led Xandralyn to the table, letting the doctor exit the room that held many things that she had questions of and many things she wanted to learn.
