Two Faced

“E-ENOUGH, C-Craig. I-I can’t do this a-anymore. P-please,” Daisy begs with a shaky voice. But no matter how much she pleads, Craig never listens. She already came many times after Craig took her roughly the whole night that her womanhood was still sensitive. “C-Craig, please, s-stop- mmhh!” her legs starts shaking uncontrollably when her husband controlled the sex machine to higher speed, thrusting roughly and deeper inside her. She was in a doggy style position while the dildo was positioned behind her. There was a rectangular box in between her legs and arms that she got no choice but to remain in that position. She thought that was already the maximum speed of the sex machine but she was wrong. She keeps on moaning as it hits her sweet spot again. She can no longer remember how many times she came that night.

Her mind always tells her that this is no longer right. Her heart aches whenever her husband does such things to her. But then, her body always betrays her. Her whole body was shaking after she came. Craig grabs her hair and lift her head so she could look at him. “I’m sure you still want more.”

Gathering all the strength Daisy has left, she grab the phone. Ever since they live in that mansion, that phone was already there and functioning. Like Craig is just testing her if she would use that to report what he does to her.

It didn’t took a while before someone answers from the other line.

“Hello, son?”

“M-Mom.”

There was silence on the other line but she knows Sarah is still there.

“Mom, I c-can’t do this anymore. Help me, please.”

“Daisy, please, don’t give up on him. I know it’s hard but I know you’re the only person who can bring him back.”

“B-but I’m already tired. I-if you wont help me, I’m sorry but I’m still leaving.”

“Do you think I’d let you?”

Her body was already shaking from exhaustion but the effect of Craig’s voice made her feel like her legs were paralyzed. She wants to run away but she can’t move an inch.

“Please, Craig, j-just let me go.”

“You can never leave me alive. No one can ever have you other than me, Daisy.”

“Ahh!” she exclaimed when Craig pulled her hair and drag her. “Let me go! I don’t want to be with you anymore. You’re a monster!”

She managed to grab the chair and strike it to Craig’s leg. He seemed hurt since he let go of her. She took that chance to run away. She went to the bathroom and locked it even before Craig managed to reach her.

“Do you think you can hide there forever? I can break this door, Daisy. So before I do that, go out while I’m still being niceto you.”

She knows nothing good will happen if she does that. Craig has gone mad. She looked around. She did not go in the bathroom without a plan.

Craig closed all the exits in the house except the window in the bathroom. He might thought that was too high for her to reach and too small to get out but for her who’s already desperate, that hole is her only savior.

Two days ago, she already started planning her escape. She already dismantled the sides and just have to remove the glass. She pushed it with the mop’s stick and the glass fell on the other side. She was so scared when it made a sound as Craig’s knock became more violent.

“What are you doing there? Do you really think you’d fit in there? Daisy!”

She needs to move fast before the door breaks. Her legs and arms were still shaking that it was so hard for her to climb the wall dividing the shower from the toilet. She slipped twice before she finally managed to climb and grab the rectangular opening where she’d escape.

Climbing was actually the hardest part since she became skinny the past weeks that she actually fitted on the hole. She was almost out when the door opens. She got surprised that she fell on the ground were the broken glass were and hurt her feet. She heard Craig screaming her name. She’s got no time to waste or else, she’ll get caught.

The house was located in a secluded area in Danao City, Cebu. She literally got no one to ask help from unless there would be a car that will pass on the road which seldom happens at night.

She looked back when she noticed light flashing towards her and it was Craig’s car. She went to the bushes and used the alternative route to the main road. It’s dark and she doesn’t really know where she’s heading but she just keeps on running forward. She feels like she’s about to pass out but she can’t stop. It’s her only chance to escape.

She keeps on running until she finally saw a light coming from the main road’s posts. Just as she reached the road, a car suddenly showed up. She didn’t feel any pain but seeing how she was so near from getting hit made her fall on the ground.

“WHERE AM I?” Christian asking himself after realizing that he was inside a car and driving.

“Oh, shit!” He exclaimed when a woman suddenly appeared in front of his car running from the bushes. “What the hell!”

Though he managed to step on the break, it was a little bit late. He guess he already hit the woman.

“This is crazy.”

He went out of his car and approach the woman. She’s just wearing a dirty white shirt and in her underwear. He felt angry when he understood the possible reason why she’s only wearing those clothes. It seems like she’s running away from someone. He remove his jacket to cover her body when the woman looks at him. His eyes widen in shock the moment he recognize who it is. It’s his wife, Daisy! Aside from the pain, there was so much fear in her eyes.

“P-please d-don’t hurt me.”

Right, he now recalls his last conversation with Daisy. That Craig is hurting and abusing her. He felt even angrier.

“It’s me, Daisy. It’s Christian. I’m not going to hurt you.”

Just in time that he covered her body with his jacket, she lost consciousness. He panicked thinking that she might be dead but was glad to know that she’s still breathing. He placed her at the passenger’s seat and brought her right away to the nearest hospital.

While the doctor’s checking on Daisy, he called his mom.

“Hello, son?” he can hear fear in his mom’s voice. “Is everything okay? How is Daisy? Is she okay? Please stop doing this, Son.”

For his mom to say those words, for sure she knows something which exasperates him even more.

“You do know Craig’s hurting Daisy, don’t you? How could you let him do that?”

“C-Christian? Thank God you’re back. I’m sorry, son. I was worried he will do something worse to Daisy if I stop him.”

He clenched his fist and punched it against the wall.

"So you just let him hurt Daisy? Is that so?"

"Son, believe me. I tried."

He took a deep breath to calm himself. "How long has this been going on? How long has he been hurting Daisy?"

"I-I don't know what he's doing but it's been a month since he locked Daisy in the house."

"A-a month? That long? I was gone that long? I can never let him do that again. I will stop him from hurting Daisy."

"What do you mean, son?" He can hear panic in his mom’s voice. She might have guessed what he’s thinking.

"I will report to the police."

"N-no. Don't do that, Christian. I know Daisy doesn't want you to do that either. Please, let's talk first. Is Daisy there? Let me talk to her."

“I’ve decided, Mom and you can’t change my mind anymore.”

“HOW did I get here?” Daisy said the moment she woke up and saw a nurse checking on her.

The woman smiled at her. “A guy named Christian brought you here. Do you know him? We ask him about his relationship with you and he said he’s your husband.”

Her whole body aches but she pushed herself to get up.

“Hey, where are you going? You still need to rest,” the nurse said while trying to stop her.

“I need to see him. Take me to him, please,” she started crying in relief or it could be because of excitement, she can’t really explain what she’s feeling at that moment.

“Just stay here, okay? Promise he’ll be with me when I get back.”

The nurse’s words made her calm down a little bit. She stopped escaping from her grasp and sat down on the side of the bed. But even before the nurse left her room, someone came in. Her tears starts flowing again when she saw it was Christian. She didn’t mind the pain she felt after the IV got removed from her wrist as she runs towards Christian and hug him.

“Please don’t leave me again, Christian. Please just stay with me.”

“I’m sorry, Daisy but I can’t do that. Me, staying with you will only put your life in danger again.”

She let go from the hug and looked at Christian. “What do you mean?”

“This has to stop. I can’t let him hurt you again. I just came here to check on you before they take me.”

“Take you?” she got confused. “Who’s going to take you?”

“Go live far away from my family and forget your past. Staying with me will only hurt you even more. So do it now while you still can. While I can still do something to protect you. Leave.”

She can see guilt and anger in Christian’s eyes. With Christian's kind heart, he was definitely surprised of what happened to her.

“I was escaping from Craig when you saw me. But it doesn’t mean I want to stay away and run away from you too. I love you, Christian and that will never change.”

They stopped talking when there was a knock and the door opened. Her eyes widened when she saw the policemen. What are they doing in her room? She looked at Christian. "I-Is it you who called them?"

Christian smiled at her sadly. "This is the only way I know to protect you, Daisy."

"Christian Garcia?”

“That’s me,” Christian answered calmly.

The policemen came to Christian and placed a handcuffed on both his wrists. “I am arresting you on suspicion of marital rape. You do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”

"No," she shook her head. “You can’t arrest him because he’s not my husband! He’s my husband’s twin brother and he got nothing to do with it. So please, Mister Officer, let him go,” she pleaded.

The policemen didn’t believe her at first. They even let Christian to go out with the other officer. That maybe she’s just afraid and her husband is threatening her. But when her decision didn’t change, they left without taking Christian.

“Why did you do that? Why did you lie?” said Christian.

“I just did the right thing, Christian. You are not really at fault. You are not the one who hurt me.”

"Technically, it was still me, Daisy. Look at you, you became so thin. And as long as I am not imprisoned, it is possible that I could hurt you again or it could be worse. What if Craig comes back and hurt you again? And what if that time, he ends up killing you? He’s a bad person, Daisy. He has no hope to change. He’s a monster that even I can’t protect you from unless I do it now. You have to leave while you still got the chance.”

She shake her head. “No, I’ll never do that. I’m never going to leave you, Christian. I love you so much,” she hugs him tight.

Christian didn’t move right away but in the end, he reciprocated her embrace.

Daisy’s mom do laundry at different residences. Whenever she works, she comes with her too. One day, her mom starts doing laundry for the Garcia residence and that’s when she first met Christian. She was eight and Christian was ten years old. They easily click since he’s friendly and loves to play with her. But there are also some times that he ignores her and being rude like he’s a different person. But whenever Christian plays with her again, she plays with him too. They’ve been like that for years. She have adjusted well to his personality that she just talks with him whenever he does it first. If he don’t, she just ignores him too.

She was in high school when her mom told her that they needed to stay in the Garcia’s residence. She was hired as an all-around helper and required to stay-in. That’s when Christian told her about a different person who’s like living inside his body and does things that he’s not aware of, the reason behind his moody personality. That he has Dissociative Identity Disorder. It’s like there’s two person owning his body. The one who she’s close with and the one who seemed to hate her. Though she was surprised, she didn’t thought it’s a big deal since she already got used to it. In fact, they become even closer to the point that they started to fall in love with each other. When Christian asked her to be his girlfriend, she didn’t hesitated to say yes.

Everything went well until last year, they decided to get married. That’s when Craig started to act strange. From the start, he shows traits that she was afraid of. But because she loves Christian, she still decided to marry him.

They were love making when Craig suddenly switches with Christian. He was so aggressive to the point that he’s already hurting her. She tried to fight back but he threatens her that he’d kill Christian if he tells anyone about it. Including Christian. Telling her that he knows everything she does so she make sure she wont make a mistake.

Craig started to switch with Christian more often just to have sex with her. To abuse her. She was so afraid that she kept it to herself. Until one day, Christian talked about living separately from his mother. And she was actually surprised that his mom was not against it. What makes her more confused is how Christian came to that decision. He once asked her if it’s okay with her if they’d stay with his mother since he doesn’t want her to be left alone. So why suddenly change his mind?

After she moved to a different house with Christian, that’s when everything became clear to her mind. It was all planned by Craig and his mom knows about it but she still agreed. That’s also when she found out that Craig has been controlling their body for quite a while.

There was a time that Christian came back to his senses. She took that opportunity to tell him everything, that she’s being abused by Craig. But it didn’t took long when Craig took over on his body again. That’s when her life became more miserable.

Being with Craig was like a nightmare. He abused her mentally and physically. She wants him to pay for everything he have done to her but she can’t let Christian pay for Craig’s sins.

CHRISTIAN waited for Daisy to fall asleep. And when she did, he kissed her in the forehead and on her lips. That might be the last time he can do that.

“ I love you so much, Daisy. But I’d rather have you hate me than put your life in more danger.”

When he was young, he was never aware about Craig. Until one day, he woke up inside a hospital. He thought that’s just one of those times that he passes out whenever his father beats him. But later onwards, he realized that there was something wrong. Doctors started to ask him about a lot of things. Like what he feels whenever his father hurts him and if he loves him. But as a kid who’s afraid of his father, he chose to lie. That he think he might have done something wrong that’s why his father does that and he still loves him no matter what. But the fact is, he was full of hatred against his father.

And maybe, that’s how Craig was born inside him. He became his inner self who wants to protect himself from his abusive father. The truth is, when his doctors and her mom told him about Craig’s existence, that Craig have killed their father in self-defense, instead of fear, he felt relieved. Because of Craig, he was freed from his father. Even when people he once knew started getting scared of him to the point that they had to live somewhere else, he was fine with it especially that became the way he knew Daisy.

He thought that even with Craig inside him, he can live like a normal person. Get married, have kids and be happy. When he was still dating Daisy, she never complained about Craig and even agreed on marrying him. Because Daisy accepted him and Craig, he thought they’ll never have a problem about it. But what he didn’t realized was that Daisy was struggling by herself, that she can’t just tell him about it. Everything isn’t going well like the way he thought it was. If only he can talk with Craig and beat him for hurting the woman he loves so much. Before, he didn’t mind about Craig’s existence but now, he has to find a way so he could not hurt Daisy again.

“You can never hurt her again.”

“Do you think you can protect her from me? You’re a weakling, Christian. You can’t even protect yourself from your father.”

He stopped the car and looked at the backseat but there’s no one in there. Was he hearing Craig’s voice?

“I’m no longer the same, Craig. I can now do everything to protect the woman I love.”

“And how do you think you can protect her from me? You can’t even touch me.”

“Sure I can’t but I can kill you.”

He steps on the accelerator. If killing himself will kill Craig, he doesn’t mind dying for Daisy.

“I’m sorry, Daisy but I have to do this.”

“NO!” Daisy was panting and so scared but she slowly calm down when she realized it was just a dream. In her dream, Christian left her and it was the scariest thing for her. She looks around and started to get restless when she didn’t find Christian inside her room. “No. He can’t leave me.”

She looks for Christian at the bathroom but he wasn’t there. She tried to stay calm since his phone was there. Maybe he’s with his mom now and on their way to her hospital room.

Last night, Sarah called saying sorry she wasn’t able to do anything to protect her from Craig which she totally understand. Even she wasn’t able to do that for her self when she had all her chances to call the police to report Craig. She dialed Sarah’s number and she was glad she answered it immediately.

“Hello, Son? I’m on my way there.”

“This is Daisy. Did Christian called you? Do you know where he is?”

“He’s not with you? He didn’t call me. Is there something wrong?”

“I’m not sure. He’s not here when I woke up and he left his phone in here. I’m worried, Mom. Yesterday he called the police to surrender but I’ve convinced the police not to take him. What if he did it again?”

“Just stay there, okay? I’ll try to go to your house first if he’s there. Call me if he comes back.”

“Okay, Mom. Thanks.”

Though she said yes, she was restless. After her conversation with Christian last night, she can’t just stay there and do nothing. She can’t just let Christian leave her. She knows staying with Christian is dangerous. That anytime, Craig can take over his body. But then, she’s not losing hope that they can still live happily together. There must be a way.

She was cautious not to get seen by the nurse assigned to her. She let out a deep breath after she successfully left the hospital. She didn’t have money with her but good thing she has Christian’s phone. She used his online bank account to withdraw some money. After she reach the mansion, she felt relief seeing the car was parked in there. Christian must be home.

“Christian?” she shouted the moment she went inside. She went straight to their room and saw Christian sitting in their bed, head bowed down with both his hands on his head. “Christian, please, let’s talk.”

He didn’t looked at her but she heard him chuckled. For some reason, it sounded eerie. “I was right. Even if I don’t look for you, you’ll come back on your own just to see him.”

Him? Does it mean it’s not Christian she’s talking with right now? She step back.

“C-Craig?”

That’s only when he looked at her. “Took you long.”

Good thing she haven’t closed the door that she got the chance to run away from him. But even before she managed to reach the main door, she screamed after Craig managed to grab her hair.

“Let me go!”

“You had your chance, Daisy. But since you came back, I guess you miss being with me and everything that I’m doing to you. Come on, you don’t have to be shy.”

“I-I know I’ve been unfair to you but it was you who was cold to me first. I tried to be friendly with you too but you just ignored me. C-can we just get along? Lets start over again. Whatever you’ve done to me, I can forget that. I can forgive you. P-please, Craig, stop doing this to me.”

“Can you really do that? Can you really forgive me even after you know the truth?”

“T-the truth?”

“I’m sure Christian haven’t told you about this. Do you know how our father died?”

She remain silent.

“I killed him, Daisy. With my own hands. I’m worse than what you think of me.”

She remember asking Christian before what happened to his father and he just told her she died without giving details. Is this the reason why? Because it’s Craig who killed their own father? Craig has been so rude to her but she didn’t thought he can actually kill a person.

“Can you still forgive me?”

She tried to keep calm even though she was shaking in fear. “I-I can. I-I know there’s a reason you’ve done that.”

“You really are an interesting person, Daisy. You’re obviously shaking in fear but you still manage to say that.”

They were still in that position. Craig holding her hair tight. She can feel her legs losing strength but she’s trying her best to keep herself calm. She can’t faint. She needs to leave that place. Going there by herself was a wrong decision. She forgot about the possibility that Craig might have switch with Christian again.

“It wasn’t an accident, Daisy.”

She frown. “What are you talking about?”

“Remember how your mother died? It wasn’t an accident, Daisy. She didn’t fall on the stairs. I pushed her.”

She was so scared with Craig but at that moment, she suddenly had the strength to face him and hit his chest with her fist. She didn’t mind even if her head hurts since he’s still gripping her hair.

“You really are a monster! You’re heartless! How could you do that to her! You’re a demon!”

“That was her fault. She was a hindrance for me to have you.”

She remember how her mom was so against about her relationship with Christian. The day her mom died, she remember it was also the day she told her to break up with Christian.

“Can you still forgive me?”

“There’s no way I’d ever forgive you for killing my mother. I will kill you!”

Craig smiles like he wasn’t hurt by all the punches and kicks she was giving him. She held Craig’s hand when he moved her grip from her hair to her neck.

“Go ahead and kill me if you can.”

In front of him is the guy she loves the most but also the man she hates so much. She thought there will never be a time she’s going to regret loving Christian but at that moment, she’s not sure anymore. If only she listen to her mom before, she would have still be alive. She wouldn’t have to suffer.

She’s trying to get his hands off her neck but he was just so strong for her. Her surrounding starts to spin as it gets harder for her to breath. Is this how she’s going to die? Her eyes were slowly closing when she felt Craig’s grip loosen. She coughs as she fell on her knees. She looks at Craig who’s now also in his knees. She was surprised as she see him crying.

“I promised I’ll never let him hurt you but I failed you once again.”

HE was almost near the ravine to kill himself to end Craig’s evilness. He thought he was successful but after he came back to his senses and saw himself strangling Daisy, he knows he failed. Not just killing himself but stopping Craig from hurting Daisy again. This time he has to make sure he won’t fail. He wanted to go to Daisy’s side to hug her and kiss her but Craig’s evilness has to stop.

“I’m sorry but I need to do this.”

He went to the kitchen and held the knife. He knows that by doing that, he can’t see Daisy anymore even after death. But even if he doesn’t do that, after Craig killed his father, he doubt he’d still go to heaven. At least by doing that, he can save a life.

“Please don’t do that, Christian.”

He looks at Daisy who followed him to the kitchen. She’s crying and her eyes were full of fear. “Please find a man who will never hurt you,” he smiled at her. “I love you so much, Daisy.”

“P-please, Christian don’t do that.”

He doesn’t want her to see him do that but that might be his last chance to save her.

“NO!” she screamed when Christian stabbed himself with the knife.

Her body shivers as he pulled the knife from his chest before he fell on the ground. She doesn’t know what to do when she saw him bathing in his own blood. She wanted to go towards Christian but she felt like all the strength she got was sucked out of her body.

“Daisy? What are you- Oh my God!”

Hearing Sarah’s scream was the last thing she remembers before she fainted.

When she woke up, she found out that Christian didn't survive. She wanted to kill herself too but she thought she can't just let Christian's sacrifice be put to waste especially after she found out that she's pregnant. She needs to stay alive. Though it wasn't easy keeping that promise, she received a blessing that made her keep going on.
