The Vampire Priestess

Prologue

I whirled around when I heard the slamming of the door. There, I found Iago walking dangerously towards me. I moved back, away from him and to give more distance between us as much as possible. I didn’t want to suffer from his wrath, for whatever reason that is right now. I just knew that he was livid right now, after I heard some commotion outside.

Although I was not afraid of him, my instincts took a better hold of my body’s reactions when I saw him. My heart jumped crazily inside my rib cage. Yes, it was crazy. I knew I should be afraid of him right now, but why did I also feel the excitement coursing throughout my entire system?

“I didn’t know you’d be this cruel, stripping me of my powers and imprisoning me!” I shook my head, looking at his handsome face. “It’s not who you are when I met you and Erasmun!” I bawled at him. That boy… he used to look at me with a dimpled smile…

I felt the cold and hard wall against my back. My thin dress, which was next to nothing, didn’t help at all. I felt like I was bare in front of him. It was obvious on the way he looked at me. It was like he touched my entire body with only his eyes. I could feel my body go warm, and the stupid butterflies that took residence in my stomach fluttered. Why? Oh, why?

“Don’t you dare say his name!” Iago warned in a hard tone. His hands balled into fists. “What do you know about me, anyway?” His champagne-colored eyes went darker.

I hated this version of him. He was merciless, cruel! I could still see in my mind’s eye how my beautiful acolytes were reduced to skeletons just a few days ago. Right, he didn’t do it himself but he was the one who ordered to kill my beloved acolytes! With that memory in my head, I bared my fangs and my eyes glowed red.

“I’ll make you pay for what you did to my people!” I pounced on him. My hands were about to grab his neck but he was quick to sidestep. Even with my vampire speed, he was faster than me. I bared my fangs and hissed at him when I turned in his direction.

“¡Mierda! Your people? You mean, your kind. You’re no people,” he bitterly corrected me. His eyes were still dark as he looked at me. “At least people have conscience, but you and your kind? No, you don’t have any. Your kind killed my kind, Adriana! For what? To expand your territories? To kill more of my kind? To rule the world? Slovakia and other countries surrounding it will never be yours. Tell that to your Vampire King. That is if you see him again!” His hand flew to grab my chin. He pressed me to the wall, and our bodies were only inches away from each other.

I could feel the heat emanating from his whole body. There was still that wedge between us but why could I feel as if his massive body already covered mine?

I tried to move away from him but he pressed my head to the wall instead. His other hand caught my two hands that were about to push him back. Instead, he pulled them up on my head and pinned them against the wall. With it, his body was pressed against mine. I could feel all the hard contours of his body, especially that hardest part that rammed my abdomen. My eyes went round because of that. Plus, my breathing became labored as his rich, spicy vanilla scent assaulted my nostrils, filling my lungs.

‘Oh, madre de Dios! What is this he’s making me feel down there?’ I muttered an oath in his face.

“You think your Vampire King is the best in the world? But, hey! Newsflash. He’s crueler than me. Don’t you know that?

I narrowed my eyes, trying hard not to notice the bulge that nudged my abdomen as he moved closer to me. It was as if he wasn’t pressed against me already. I couldn’t even move my legs as he trapped them with his own. Without my powers, I couldn’t do anything right now. Curse the suppressor they put on me!

“Why would I believe someone like you now? You’re nothing like him!” My eyes were still glowing red, and my fangs were exposed. I wanted to sink them in his neck and drain him at that moment. But I was distracted again when he slightly moved his body while he breathed heavily. His strong arousal was fogging my poor brain.

‘Shit! I should have put a curse on him when I first met him nights ago! But why is he aroused for God’s sakes?

Iago snorted and gave me a fiery glare. “Well, I couldn’t agree more with you on that matter. We are different indeed! That murderer who treasures you so much will know what I’ll do to you.

“What?” I was confused.

“Before you’ll see your Vampire King again, he’ll know that you’ve become mine. And no one can take you away from me, even if it’s that King of Bloodsuckers! I’ll kill him if he dares!

“You bet he will dare! But you can’t easily defeat or kill him! You’ll see,” I confidently told him. I knew I was provoking this beast but I didn’t care in the least!

“He may have killed Erasmun who was like a brother to me and took you for his for over a century but I promise you I’ll make him pay the next time I see him.

My eyes bulged when he slammed his mouth on mine. It was electrifying. I could feel the electricity traveling throughout my entire body, making me feel alive for the first time in my life. That very second, all my thoughts, fears, anger and everything else just vanished into thin air. What remained was what he made me feel when our lips touched. It was impossible for a beast like him but he tasted like vanilla!

He moved his head to the side to get more access to my lips, forcing them to open. An involuntary groan made my lips agape. I could feel my fangs puncture his lips and mine. I could taste the blood that made me hunger for more. As his warm hand touched my bare thigh and cupped my precious treasure, I lost it.

“You’re wet and ready, Adriana,” he whispered in my ear and licked my earlobe.

“No, I’m not wet and ready!” I vehemently hissed at him.

He laughed mockingly. “Deny all you want but your body is mine tonight!” Then he tore my thin dress like it was just a piece of Japanese paper.
