The Secret Pack

Chapter One

CHAPTER ONE

Kacper's POV

"KACPER!"

I'm snapped out of my mind by the calling of my name. I look up to meet the angry eyes of my best friend Cadmael.

"Are you even listening to me, man? I've been wasting my energy trying to explain all that, yet you are lost in wonderland," he paused his rant then looked at me as if trying to read my mind. I look back at him blanking my face of any emotion.

"Don't give me that look Kacy, I know something is wrong with you. For the past week, you have been spacing out and you look tired as well. Have you even been sleeping? You look bad, man." He frowns and I know his mind is now running a mile on guessing what's up.

I scoff, feeling offended with the looking bad statement. "I'm fine Cad, you can tell that by how am looking." I sarcastically reply. Being slow as he is, he misses the sarcasm and keeps frowning at me.

"I'm positive something is wrong with you." He states still trying to figure it out. "Don't tell me...," he doesn't complete his words, leaving it open for me to agree with him or not. I just look at him giving him no answer which he takes it as he's right.

To be honest, I'm kind of disappointed it took him this long to sense something was wrong. I have been feeling drained for the past months, only now it’s worse. I can't sleep at night no matter how much I would love to. If I do sleep then it’s just for an hour or two.

"Is this really about your mate? It’s the distance, isn’t it?" He keeps on asking although he knows the answers to the questions.

The sun now is setting and I decide it’s time to head back home. We leave the park, taking the long way road so we don't get home as fast.

"You have to tell the Alpha, this might be dangerous for your health." I stop walking, turning to face my friend.

"No I'm not and neither are you." I dismiss his suggestion.

"Why not? Your birthday is a month away and you can't tell me you are planning to be this miserable until then. You can't wait for the right time to come, you need your mate’s presence or else you will be drained out." He presses, but I'm still not doing that.

I understand his reasoning but I can't do that. I am supposed to go to my mate after my 18th birthday not a month before. It just screams impatience and I'm not going to let my mate think I'm like that.

"I will be fine Cad. Like you said, it’s just a month. Do you want me to look bad in front of him? He will think that I am impatient and I made that as an excuse to hurry things up. Besides, it’s just a month so I will be fine."

I explain to him my reasons though he looks like he doesn't agree with me, I am glad he doesn't disagree out loud but chooses to accept my words. We walk the rest of the journey in silent.

Upon reaching home, Cad goes in the kitchen while I go straight to my room. It was a long day which we spent learning about childbearing. Being a submissive, it was expected of me to have the knowledge of managing the house. For me it was more than that considering I have an alpha for a mate, I had to learn to manage a pack.

Today, we, Cad and me, had our last class. I am glad I've finished learning a month before my birthday. This gave me a month of practicing to perfection because even though I'm good, I wanted to be the best.

As I lay down in my bed, the exhaustion overcomes my conscious. I deeply fell asleep.

****

I woke up the next day feeling better. I enter my bathroom to relieve myself then proceeds with my morning ritual. After that, I take my phone from my desk turning it on. Seeing the time, I'm surprised I slept throughout the morning. Its lunch time and I even missed out preparing it.

I make my way to the dining room which is flooding with pack members. Some were seated eating there lunch while others took their food to sit outside. I reach the kitchen while saying my greetings to some of the members, and search for Cad. I found him there cooking with some of the omegas.

"It’s about time the sleeping beauty makes an appearance. I was starting to worry you will sleep all day." He greats me though still occupied with the food he's preparing.

"Well, good morning though afternoon, to you too my friend." I reply. I look around seeing most of the members were now done eating and deserting the kitchen and dining to complete whatever they were doing.

Looking back at Cad, "why didn't you wake me up? I thought we planned to help around the pack house." I question him, looking for an explanation.

He shrugs, and calls for Macie, a female omega, so that she must finish his cooking and takes me out of the kitchen to take a sit in the dining room. Bertha, Cad's sister, brings me food. "Here you are dear, just how you like them."

"Thanks, Bertha." I get pancakes and orange juice for my late breakfast.

I start to eat, while waiting for Cad to explain. He looks at me and sighs.

"I just thought you should have some rest. You were tired yesterday and needed lots of sleep." He points out the obvious. He doesn't say anything else and neither do I. I finish my food and stand to leave but he stops me. I sit back down and look at him.

"I'm sorry." He says while avoiding looking at me. I find it odd for him to apologize for not waking me up this morning. It’s not like I am mad or something.

"You don't have to say sorry about that. I unders-" I go to explain but he cuts me off.

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry Kacy. I told the alpha about your problem. I had to tell him for your own good and I hope you understand why I did all this. As your friend I had to." I look at my friend while each word he says breaks me down. "I'm sorry I didn't keep quiet like you asked about this." He adds apologetically looking up from his lap to meet my eyes.

I keep looking at him while my mind still processing what he said. The thing is, I'm not mad at him for telling my dad. I should have seen this coming after that mini argument we had yesterday. I don't know what to say so I stand to leave, my back facing him. I hear him standing as well.

"Say something, Kac." He pleads at me.

I look at him, "okay." That's what I manage to say for now.

"It can't just be okay. Say you’re mad at me or something but not 'okay'." He exclaims but I just look at him. I turn around and make my way to the door but stop to give him an answer.

"I'm not mad at you Cadmael, I understand." I say without turning back, and leave the room. I'm about to leave the house when I'm stopped by his voice.

"We need to talk, son."

STORY DETAILS

There are some terms that I want to explain and give brief meanings of some words.

This story occurs in a world of werewolves only, no human is present.

Submissive and omega are meaning one thing.

A mate tattoo is only present on the submissive body.

Mate tattoo: This is a picture of a dominant wolf which appears on the body of its selected mate.

First Heat: This heat occurs at the age of 10 of each omega that is mated to an alpha, once the mate tattoo becomes visible. Its a unique scent which only the dominant mate can smell and they follow the scent to find their mate.

Second Heat: This heat occurs at the age of 18 after the mating ceremony is done. A scent produced is also only smelled by the dominant mate and acts as a sex drug.

The first heat is something that happens to omegas who are mated to an alpha. This is to ensure that a future alpha has a mate before he becomes an alpha.

Only the Alphas are able to find a mate at the age of 10.

Every other werewolf, do experience a mate call when they turn 18. Either they choose to go and find their mate or not its ones choice.

The omegas that are mated to any dominant wolf (not an alpha) do experience heat once they find their mate. After mating, a mate tattoo is visible on their skin.

That’s almost all details needed. I hope you enjoy the story!
