Chapter 2

Our eye fluttered open but quickly shut closed from the bright light. We opened it again and it took several blinks to adjust to the lightning. We stared at the ceiling for a few minutes just to regain our thoughts.

"What happend?" I asked him while we sit up and examine the room we're currently in. "I don't know? Last thing I remember is seeing our parents." I smiled inside our head at his slip of the tongue.

"You just admitted-"

"I admit nothing!" He booms in our head using his Alpha voice. He thinks it makes me submit to him but he always forgets that it's my voice too. We look around again and see that we're in the infirmary.

We lay back down and close our eyes, relishing the silence. Though everything is short lived once we heard the door open softly. We took a peak at who the intruder was, already in an attack position but we saw it was just our mother.

"She's not our mother!" Gage yelled, again. "Would you quit whining like a little pup? Gosh you're worse than those babies at the nursery!" I yelled at him but immediately regretted it. I knew how he felt about the nursery.

We volunteered there all the time, helping to clean diapers, feeding the kids, playing with them but what we really enjoyed was when we got to do arts and craft with them. It was the cutest thing, you'd tell them to draw anything that comes to their minds and they'd immediately have an idea.

That's basically the only thing Gage cared about after we lost our adoptive family. Staying in that cell, we would always think back on memories we shared with our family and with the kids.

They're gone now.

It was the one time Gage ever refused to follow an order after the medallion was placed around our neck.

They brought in this kid who immediately reminded us of a little boy named Maver. He was the cutest thing we had ever seen but when we saw that little boy in our cell, Gage lost it.

He took so many beatings but he still would not harm that little boy. Then they did the worse thing imaginable for Gage and myself. They threatened to harm the nursery if we did not kill this boy.

That was a low blow for Gage and myself. Gage always thought of those children as his own pups. They took it away from us.

Gage killed the boy but they lied. They still went after the nursery. It held over 50 kids and then over 20 staff members.

They burned it down.

Whats worse is that they recorded the whole thing. You could hear all of their screams. It haunts us almost every night.

"Could you please stop thinking about that?" Gage whimpered inside our head. I stopped thinking about it and we turned our attention to our mother.

"Are you feeling better Theo?" She asked us with a soothing sound too her voice. We nodded our head but said nothing. "Do you know why you passed out?" She asked, trying to get us too speak. I'd love to talk with her but Gage refuses at the moment.

We shake our head no and she sighs. She sits down gracefully next to us. She doesn't say anything but she only stares at us. Analysing us. We stare back and memorize every detail, well I do. Gage only stares to look at all her weak spots.

"I'm so glad you're okay Theo." She says as a single tear falls down her flawless, beautiful face. We smile at her and its surprisingly a genuine smile. She reaches out to touches us but is interrupted when the door suddenly slams open.

We immediately attack and jump onto the intruder. We wrap our hands around the persons neck and bare our teeth. The person turns their neck to the side showing submission.

"Theo! No, thats your uncle let go of him!" Mother yells at us but Gage doesn't quit. I try to make him stop, I try all the time but I never succeed.

We're suddenly lifted up and our hands can no longer keep a hold of the person. We see that we're not even on the ground anymore. "Theo James Black you better stop right now!" Our mother commands and we find ourself submitting.

She places us on the ground and lets go of the hold on us. She rushes over to the intruder and checks if he's okay. "Cole are you okay?" She asks the man who's still lying on the floor.

We stand up and look closer at him and see he looks similar to mother. Well he is our uncle apparently so we can believe he is her brother. We notice he's wearing a lab coat and a bunch of papers are now all across the floor.

"I'm good. Dang boy you got a good grip." He chuckles while standing up and dusting himself off. He collects the papers and we help. We hand it to him and we go to sit down again.

"Okay Theo. I'm your Uncle Cole. I'm just going to examine you quick, run a few tests alright?" We nod our head and he begins to check us.

After he's finished he smiles and writes something down on one of the papers. "Well everything seems alright, nothing I can find is wrong with him. I just want you too shift please Theo." We look at him then to mother. She nods her head and we begin to undress in front of them until we're left only in our boxers.

Immediately we shift. Its not as painful as the one that made me end up here but my head did still hurt a little.

Once shifted I look up at them and both of them are gaping at us. "Wow and I thought only I had that." Mother says and chuckles. "There's a mirror over there Theo." Uncle Cole tells me while pointing towards another side of the room.

We walk over to it expecting to see our normal brown fur coat but instead we're met with brown fur but it also has red swirls all over it. We jump back in surprise and quickly shift.

"What is this?" We yell out while staring at them. "Maybe he got one of my powers? Maybe thats why you have that-" We cut her off and punched the wall. "This was never here before!"

"Okay calm down Theo. Maybe after you met me you only acquired the power. We can go to the training room and test what power you got?" We nod our head and quickly put our pants back on.

We follow them out of the room and continue to walk down many hallways and stairwells. We don't pay attention to everything around us. Only focusing on why we have red swirls all over us.

We reached two wooden doors and they immediately opened. We entered and saw a bunch of people standing there, all with smiles. "Hey guys!" Mother greeted happily and hugged everyone. We just stood there and did nothing but stare.

"Everyone this is Theo. Our son." Father says coming up behind mother and wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her cheek lovingly.

Everyone suddenly cheers and we're suddenly tackled. We all end up in a dog pile. We groan and try to shove everyone off. They all climb off and my father drags me off to meet them all.

After all of the greetings mother tells us to stand in the middle of the room. We do as she asks and stand there with our hands behind our back.

"Alright we're going to first start with the elements. Fire first." She says then suddenly a fire ball is coming for us. We immediately duck and stand upright again.

"Earth." Same thing happens but this one I nearly got hit.

"Water." The water came at us but we weren't as lucky to dodge it. It hit us in the gut but we immediately stood up.

It went on and on like this until she was finally done. We had managed to dodge every attack except for the water. We couldn't control any of those powers.

"Well if he can't control those power's what's the reason for the red swirls?" Uncle Cole asked mother.

"I have no idea. Maybe one of the Elder Ancients knows what this means." She says and leaves the room. Everyone else leaves the room after giving us a goodbye hug.

We stand there and just take it all in. New family. They're a crazy bunch we could already tell but you can see the loyalty that lies within them all. We're startled when suddenly a hand clasps down on my shoulder. We turn to look who it is and go to punch the person but the person dodges it.

Father.

"Come on boy. Let me take you too your new room." He says and starts to pull us along.

The trip to our new room is quick and awkward. Not one of us spoke a single word.

Once we reached the door he turned to face us. He says nothing but only smiles then walks away. This family is really strange. We for some reason really like that fact.

We sigh and enter our room. We don't really focus whats around us and just immediately jump into bed, feeling exhausted.

"Gage?"

"Yes Theo?"

"Do you really hate our new family so much you're willing to kill them?"

"...Honestly Theo I don't know. They left us remember-"

"No they didn't and you know it! Don't listen to her story about them. Listen to Uncle Steven."

"Goodnight Theo." He says then falls asleep instantly. I sigh inside of our head but begin to doze off.

"Goodnight Gage and new family."
