Part 17: The Letters to the Wolf

It was after they arrived back through the pack doors when the Alpha had immediately placed her against a nearby wall, his back in front of her as if he was shielding her from someone. She became startled and clung onto his shirt while staring up at him. She was surprised to see that his face was relatively neutral and he was not growling, but his shoulders were tense and his darkening eyes were pinned on someone nearby.

Robin had a brief glimpse of him, remembering him as one of the guys this morning that the Alpha was in the room with, the one with the neat figure and gray eyes. He was the one silently talking to Bruce, and Robin took great notice of the fact that he seemed to be the most approachable out of the three men.

He looked calm as well, not even glancing down at her but at the Alpha in front of him. “You can be such a brute at times, Titus.

At his statement, the Alpha let out a deep grumble, stepping away so Robin had room to escape from behind him. She took the chance, but remained close to the Alpha’s side, still wary of the man who was technically still a stranger to her. Now that she was in the open, the man turned to her with a quiet smile.

“My Luna, I am Grey. This caveman’s Beta,” the man pointed towards the Alpha who was now glaring at him very intently, hands twitching by his side.

The Beta… he was the man who had taken care of her and the girls as Blue had said.

“I-I am Robin, it’s ok if you call me that. I’d like to thank you for yesterday, Blue said you took care of me and the other girls. I’m very grateful that you did that, and I-I uh- Thank you, Beta,” Grey had to admit he did not really know who this Blue person was or why the Luna was flustered and bowing her head at him like so, but he knew then that his suspicions had really been right.

She was really as delicate and soft as she looked.

And it looked almost comical seeing her small little figure beside the Alpha’s body built like a fucking tank. Grey did not expect this coming at all, not at all, but he wasn’t about to complain… especially when it was obvious how the Alpha was literally smitten for her. Grey could see him literally devour her with his eyes from her back while she fumbled about her words.

Added to that the earlier events in the day, he knew Titus was a goner and this girl did not even know it.

If he were to be honest, he was there simply to see what Titus had done to the poor girl after his meltdown, but they seemed ok. He had even watched them from the front windows when they approached the pack house, her hand wrapped around his as she smiled up at him like an innocent little thing.

And fuck but he could barely believe his own eyes… the Alpha was smiling at her as well. If Grey hadn’t gone blind and completely lost it that is.

Robin was starting to feel nervous when, after her rambling, the Beta remained silent but stared intently at both her and the Alpha in deep thought. She was starting to think that she had said something wrong when the Alpha finally broke the silence with a loud sigh.

“Grey, stop staring at her like that or I’ll have to gut you.

“Gut him?” Robin whirled around in alarm to face the Alpha. “Alpha, please don’t. It is my fault he is staring. I most likely l-look weird. It is ok.” She was pleading at him, her hands tugging at the ends of his shirt.

Grey almost burst into laughter at the bewildered look on his Alpha’s face, one that Grey could only recall seeing when Titus was still a child. “No, you don’t Robin. Don’t say that. He is staring because he’s being an ass.

With that, the Alpha glared pointedly at the Beta, a serious look on his face. Grey smothered his amusement, knowing that if he did piss Titus off, he would be in deep shit. “Grey, apologize. You’ve made her upset.

Rolling his eyes at the Alpha’s overreaction, he turned to the Luna with a more genuine smile, just wanting to rub it a little more in the Alpha’s already hurting pride. “I’m sorry, Luna. I was only staring because of how cute you looked.

A loud growl pierced the air like a menacing horn. “Now that does it!

“No, Al- Titus!

Grey finally let out his laugh seeing the two lovebirds awkwardly hold each other, one in an effort to keep the other from potentially mauling him. “I’m glad both of you are feeling better. Just wanted to say that there’s a message for you, Alpha. You might want to read it.

With a teasing salute, the Beta had disappeared down the empty hallway.

Robin watched the Alpha as he fussed over the television, trying to find a movie for them to watch. He said it would help pass the time, and Robin didn’t really quite remember what a movie was so she just agreed silently and let him do whatever.

The Alpha was intently focused on the tv, allowing Robin to have a clear view of his wide back, muscles rippling under his shirt every time he moved his hands. Even standing so casually, he looked like a warrior…. A very muscular warrior. Robin wondered how it would feel like to touch his back and maybe even his abs and-

Oh, but she shouldn’t go there. Oh no Oh no.

She rubbed at her cheeks, trying to will the blush away before he could turn around and see her shame. She really shouldn’t think those things, especially when the Alpha does not tell her to. He might not even want to be with her in…. a more intimate way.

Dropping her hands from her face as he turned around, she busied herself with trying to look comfortable on the couch. She settled on sitting with her knees to her chest, toes hanging off the edge of the couch. His dark eyes scanned over her before he focused back to her face. “I’m not quite sure what you like, but maybe you’d enjoy cartoons or something. I’ll play some Finding Nemo.

Robin didn’t even bother to try and understand what he meant by any of those words, and he just pressed something on a small black box that had the television finally come to life. He settled in beside her, but she barely registered it as she watched what was happening on the screen intently.

Yes, it was like magic. There were things moving around on the screen…. They were fishes.

While she had shut the world around her, becoming increasingly invested and heartbroken for the daddy fish (Marlin?) who had lost his son named Nemo, the Alpha had brought papers with him and was now scanning through them quite seriously.

Halfway through the movie, her mind had become somewhat distracted with the Alpha, seeing him from the corner of her eye looking very serious…. And handsome. His large hands held the sheets of paper firmly, his long fingers running over the words as he muttered under his breath. His ruby eyes were swirling with a hint of darkness, though he was calm. He even had these little glasses on, and it was becoming increasingly more difficult to pay attention to the movie, not when he looked undeniably good. There was a dark frown on his lips though, one that was growing more prominent as he read one of the letters

“Yes?” the Alpha asked with a raised brow, making her realize that she had been staring at him all this time. She was really a blushing mess that day, and she was grateful he kept his gaze on the paper in hand instead of turning to face her.

“I uh-“ she cleared her throat, racking her brain for some excuse that wouldn’t make her seem so creepy. She glanced down at the letter, an idea forming in her mind. “I wanted to know what mean things it might be saying.” She pointed shyly at the letter, her other hand covering her mouth.

“Mean things?” the Alpha had turned to her now, all his interest on the paper gone as he stared at her curiously. Robin frowned. “Your face looked sad when you read it, Alp- I mean Titus.

They stared at each other for a few silent moments, his eyes taking in her face with an almost worried tinge, and he finally let out a sigh. “I don’t want to worry you, but I guess you should know, since it involves you too.

“Me?” Now Robin was the one confused, and she wished now that she could properly read what was on the paper. She could only make out a few vague words like “visit” and “worried”. Those words only served to make her even feel more anxious about what she had to do with it.

“We’re having a guest tomorrow, someone very important,” the Alpha then tore the letter in his hands, watching silently as the torn strips fluttered to the floor, completely unrecognizable. “She’ll be here to try and explain what’s going on.

He pointed his gaze at her. “With you, me….. and that man you call Jan.
