Secrets of Arcanum Hill

“What’s happening?” I asked Pierce when I saw him in the crowd.

Rudolf is in front, the second-in-command of Captain Marlou. He was crying, though I wonder why. And really? He choose to be on the court stage and make it his crying space? And he really choose to be near my house where I could hear people’s noise. I really don’t like people who wakes up early and create noises. They disturb my sleep.

“I don’t kn-“

We were startled as there was a sound echoing all around the place, it almost ruin my ears. Everyone tried to hand cover their ears as they feel the pain that the sounds make.

“Mic test, mic test.”

Huh?

I looked around to find who is speaking but I see no one. The sound system seems to be scattered throughout the court and I could not determine where.

“Good morning citizens of Arcanum Hill!” the voice on the speaker is so lively and screechy, but it’s so obvious that it is a fake voice.

“You may be wondering why our very good officer Rudolf is on stage and weeping.” The owner of the voice laughed, “I’m just asking him to choose; Life or secret?”

People in the crowd started whispering around while me, just wrinkled my forehead.

Is this a part their fiesta here in Arcanum Hill? Caitlyn told me that they conduct games before the fiesta starts. Maybe this is it. It is a little bit enthralling.

“His life or he will tell the secret of Police Officer Yasilad that he is hiding?” we all looked at the direction of Officer Yasilad’s house on where he is standing and has a confusion on his face.

“Now, Rudolf have 5 seconds to choose between the two. If not, I’ll shoot him in front of all of you.”

“The games are exciting, huh. Roleplay.” I sarcastically whisper to Pierce and turn my back.

I’m just wasting my time here. I’m going to sleep and have my beauty rest. I am not really into their fiesta games anyway. And hell, I’m not into this town too anyway.

I started walking back to my home.

I wish they would tone their voice down a bit more. They don’t seem to know that they disturb who is sleeping. It’s too early for this!

I stopped walking, I can’t even turn around to look when I hear a gunshot and a series of scream. I literally felt cold and stuck in my place. The owner of the voice laughed.

“Rudolf doesn’t seem to believe on what I can do.” I used to ignore the laugh a while ago but now I couldn’t, as I could feel the creepiness in it. I turned around and saw Rudolf’s arm, bleeding. I saw Officer Yasilad took out his gun and use his walkie-talkie to alert the other police officer. He is looking for the shooter.

“I will repeat my question to you, Rudolf.”

“Your life or the secret of Officer Yasilad?”
