Oh My Ghost Lover!

The Unluckiest Girl Alive?

What do you do when one day you wake up only to realize that everything you used to have was no longer yours? Money. Parents. Job. The life that should have belonged to you... Curse? Cry? Or do the unthinkable?

For reasons she had not yet digested, Cherry Morris found herself in this situation.

Her parents disappeared. Some said because they were caught smuggling illegal goods at the border, the government quietly erased them. Ooops, not really quietly, since somehow or another, the news just proliferated.

Now, from a normal big girl whose only worry was to do well in her newly found job, she suddenly turned into a hated and mocked orphaned daughter of two wanted criminals.

Her boyfriend broke up with her after finding a richer and more beautiful girl. Maybe that bastard had even rolled in the sheets with his new lover.

Her friends too left one by one.

Her boss fired her. It seemed the world had turned against her because someone put her in some sort of blacklist. Now no normal companies wanted her. Even small restaurants refused to hire her as their waitress or janitress! Crazy!

What else was left to her? Money?

Oh. The banks froze her parents' account, and all she had on her was her own savings from working for three months. Sadly, it only amounted to a few thousands.

House? Thankfully. But all day long, there would be people camping outside throwing rocks, eggs, and everything rotten into the roofs, windows, and yards. Who would dare to live in a place like that? Putting the smell and the yells aside, what if one of the random rocks or anything sharp thrown in kills her?

Damn! Everything and everyone seemed hellbent on driving her crazy!

Thankfully she was someone who could see the littlest thing positive in everything or else. Imagine if this happened to someone else. They might have jumped off a tall building already!

So, yeah, thankfully, not her.

See, when all her frustrations reached the highest point, she only spent a few dollars to chug down three bottles of cheap wine.

Cherry definitely never thought of taking her own life. No matter how hopeless everything seemed to be, she loved her life too much to think of committing suicide.

That was the case, even now she found herself in a damnable and puzzling situation again.

It was in the middle of the night.

Cherry Morris gulped. The wind danced along with her long hair, sobering her up and making her smell her breath and clothes reeking of alcohol.

"It's because of you!" A red-eyed drunk man glared at her murderously three meters away from her.

The place was dark and deserted, and her vision was a bit blurry due to the alcohol. But under the dim light from the lamppost of this god-forsaken street, the huge knife the man held shone eerily, sending chills to her fast racing heart.

'Of all people in the world, it's I who encountered this lunatic who seems to be dreaming of becoming a killer. Whyyy?'

It had only been a few seconds since she encountered the man. She hated herself for not going back to her apartment early and for not immediately seeing the ominous weapon the man had in his hands before their distance lessened.

She swallowed again. The clothes on her back were damp and cold and her hands and body were trembling.

'P-police! I must call the police!'

'No! Just run! Dammit!'

Between the two options, her body and instinct chose the later! She ran! And she must run faster because the thin middle-aged drunkard chased after her!

"F*ck my life! Damn! Damn! Damn! Don't come after me!"

Since her life depended on it, she ran and ran. She put all the remaining strength into her to her legs. But to her woes, the man also did the same! He was so determined to chop her body into pieces! Why was he targeting her? She questioned the heavens as she flees.

"You're not escaping from me! B*tch! I'll kill you! After taking away my heart and my money, you want to elope with your new lover? No! I won't allow it! I'll kill you! I'll really kill you! Hyaaaaaahhhhh!"

Cherry wanted to cry. The crazy man mistook the innocent her for a green tea b*tch! What was with her life!

And why were her legs shorter than the lunatics? Why the heck did she also choose to drink her sorrows away in a convenience store far from her current home?

Depression got her good this time! Dammit!

"Don't run, you b*tch!"

"Nutjob! Who won't run away from you?!" She replied in her mind.

Shocks! Why was the man now so near to her?

'Eh?'

Fear gripped her heart so tight.

Because she momentarily looked back to check how far she was from the man, she didn't see the stupid stone lying ahead. Well, actually, even if she didn't turn her head back, since this part of the street was still more or less five meters away from the lamppost, she didn't manage to see the thing blocking her way.

Naturally, she tripped on it.

She was falling, face first at that! And there seemed to be a dog poop on where her forehead would estimatedly land! Son of a dinosaur!

But the worst thing was not having to fall on something so disgusting and smelly!

"Got ya! Hahahahhahahhahaha!"

The drunkard caught up with her and without letting her say or explain a thing, he raised his knife and swung it down hard.

A scream came out of the girl's mouth and tears also ran down her eyes. It was so painful! She could feel the searing pain that assaulted her senses when the knife lodged in between her ribs.

It was so painful, but she doesn't want to die! And thus despite the pain, she still attempted to free herself from his clutches.

"Haaaahhhh!"

Yet with her hair pulled up, she didn't manage to escape. The sounds of flesh being stabbed and blood squirting out echoed again. And again. And again.

The man's laughter was accompanied at first by Cherry's cries and moans of pain, until only the drunkard's voice filled up the desolate darkness.

"Dead already?"

A minute later, the assaults finally stopped. Cherry was still alive, but she could no longer open her eyes. The torturous laughter finally stopped traumatizing her but sounds barely registered in her ears.

'Am... I dead already?'

Either because the drunkard finally realized that she was not the person who he thought she was, or he had simply lost interest in her, he ran away.

Cherry was left lying on her own puddle of blood. Her life was literally hanging by a thread or two. Even the smallest breeze of the wind would be able to kill her.

Up above, the thick blackish clouds drifted a bit to the left to make way for some rays of moonlight. Around this time, her phone suddenly rang.

However, she really had no more strength remaining in her. She was no movie female protagonist, hence no miracle sudden power outburst allowed her to fetch it and check the reason for the ring. The vibrating phone in her pocket was left on its own. She hardly cared about anything else in the world.

She suddenly realized that she was very tired. The world and everything that happened to her these past two months had made exhausted her so much. She just wanted to rest... She badly wanted to...

Despite knowing that if she falls asleep, there would be no waking up anymore later, the desire to rest was just hard to fight back against. The intense pain from all over her body also couldn't keep her awake.

Because of this, after coughing and choking on her own blood, Cherry decided to heed her body's call, closing her eyes. Once done mockingly whispering to herself a 'goodnight', she finally chose to get her so-yearned sleep...
