2. NBSB II

Gray went home that day with a troubled mind as usual. Ever since her father met an unfortunate incident, things went downhill for their family. As the firstborn child, she knew her responsibility but as a college student, she can't keep up with life. Nowadays there seems to be a permanent dark circle under her eyes and her friends are concerned for her health. Lynette and Scarlette asked her many times to drop a couple of her jobs but she knew she can't. She needs to support her family financially while her father is bedridden.

I need a job that pays more than what I have now. ASAP.

"Gray..." her mother went up to her as soon as she opened the door.

"What happened.." she whispers, worry filling her heart out as she looked into her mother's troubled face.

"The payment collectors were, here again, asking if we have the money already."

"Don't worry mom, I will go to the office to talk to them again. I will ask for another payment extension." She tries to assure her mother who still looks worried.

"Gray, you are working too hard for us. Forgive me, my child, I am your parent but I have failed you." the older woman emotionally said.

"Mom, don't stress yourself out. I got this okay. Let me deal with our little problem. You just take care of dad and Brett okay?" she hugs her mother before going into her room.

She let out a huge sigh as soon as she closes her door. Another day, another problem to face. They have debts everywhere since her father is sick and she knew she is at a dead end. She needs to pay and she needs money. Searching for her phone she called her two best friends.

"What's up?" Lynette asked.

"I will go to the loan sharks later, wanna come and cheer on me as I face those asses?" she mutters as she looks around for something that she can sell online in order to earn some extra cash.

"They visit your house again huh? Listen I already told you this a thousand times before, I have some money in the bank and I have no need of it at the moment why don't you use them and pay whenever you have some. No worries.

"I can't do that." she glumly said.

"Tsk... I knew you would say that. Listen, I have something that will solve all your problems in an instant but... you need to be open-minded." Lynette mysteriously said and Gray's interest is piqued.

"What is it..."

"I will tell you and show you later when we meet up. We are meeting up. right? A meeting with the sharks?

"Ahhh yeah, call Scarlette. See you there."

What is she talking about? Something that will solve all my problems in an instant? It's not illegal, is it?

The three of them walk into a cafe after Gray's meeting with the loan sharks. She gets the usual, mean words, threats, and more rude words from them. They have given her an ultimatum. She has one month to pay the interest, and another month to pay the whole loan amount.

Scarlette looked at her in pity as they order food from the smiling staff.

"This really is the end Gray, I can lend you some money but I don't think it will cover the amount you need." she apologetically said as Gray mess up her hair in frustration.

"I don't know what to do anymore, if I am not able to pay then they will take every single thing with value in our house, heck they will take our house if they want to," she mutters, the mind is in overdrive thinking of different ways to save her family.

Lynette places a hand on her shoulders.

"I can help you if you want to."

"What do you mean?"

Her friend showed her cellphone and tapped into an application, it shows her a pink-themed profile with Lynette's picture on it.

"What the heck is that?" she glumly asked as Lynette clap her hands in glee.

"That is the application that will solve all your problems. I say, you're welcome in advance." she happily said with a chuckle.

Gray looked dumbfoundedly at Scarlette who has no idea what was going on.

"What the heck are you talking about? If this is an illegal thing please don't lure Gray in. You know that she is her family's only hope now." Scarlette scolded the younger one who shush her up.

"This is not illegal, this is legit and I am sure it will save you from your financial troubles. This is a sugar baby app." she calmly explained as the other two looked at her in shock.

"What the hell... Lynette! Do you have a sugar baby app? What for? You're rich!" Gray exclaimed as her friend laughed at how stupid the other two looked.

"I didn't make a profile here to lure someone out to spend some cash on me, I am just bored and I heard about this app from someone. I checked it out and find someone, he seems legit."

"And why are you showing that to us?" Scarlette shrewdly asked as she looked at Lynette and then at Gray.

The food came and the trio straightens up, waiting for the staff to finish up before continuing their conversation.

"So, as I was saying before our food interrupted us a while ago. I made an account here and find this rich guy, we sent messages with each other and I told him where I study." she casually said.

"And... how did you know he is legit?" Gray curiously asked as the thought of easy money fills her mind.

"He came to see me, but I didn't show up where we are supposed to meet up. I just saw him there. He is a real person and he looks legit enough. So... are you interested?" Lynette grinned at her friend who stupidly laugh at her.

"What the heck are you talking about?"

"I will give you my account, you can have this sugar daddy." Lynette loudly said which makes the staff look at their table with judgment in her eyes.

Gray coughs in embarrassment before hissing at her friend.

"Will you lower your freaking voice?! Geez, people here will think that I am actually looking for a sugar daddy.

"Well you're not, I am giving you one."

"She has a point Gray, we just came from the loan sharks. They need your payment as soon as possible and you owe them a huge amount. Do you have any plans on how to pay them?" Scarlette delicately asked.

Gray purses her lips and shakes her head. No, she has no idea how to solve her problems. She has to admit that.

"Then this is a weird but wonderful option for you. If Lynette is telling the truth.

"I am, this is a legit app. I made some research about it and they are very discreet about the business. No one will know who your client is, the two of you will fix things up when you finally meet and sign a contract stating that you mutually agree on the relationship. You will lay down what you want and he will consider it, same with him he will tell you what he wants."

"I... I will think about it." Gray weakly said, feeling like her life fucked her up and now she has nowhere to go.

"Listen, download the app and open my account. Here are my details, chat him up and see for yourself okay? Then after a couple of days, you can decide if you want to go for it or not."

"Go for what..."

"He wants me to go on a vacation with him..."

"What?" Gray exclaimed in surprise. For her, everything is all going too fast and her troubled mind can't seem to catch up. How can she do it? Be someone's sugar baby when she never ever had a boyfriend in her entire life.

She is what millennials called NBSB, meaning no boyfriend since birth. The not popular type of girl who's always in the background and has zero percent chance of getting dates since she dedicates her time to her school work, finding the means to support her family, etc., etc.

"I... I can't..." Gray weakly said while Lynette suddenly come up to grab her shoulders and shake her.

"Listen! This is a win-win situation and it is your only hope. Don't you want to start a new chapter of your life without those freaking loansharks behind your back? You will earn enough from this and when you finally saved enough you can quit."

"I'll think about it..." she weakly said as her friend grabbed her cellphone to install the app.

"There, all set up. Think about it.

Gray walks home, the mind is filled with uncertainties as she considers her best friend's crazy option for her dire situation. What if, this really is the only chance she has at the moment. What if this is the key to ending all the hardships that she and her family are experiencing right now?

Throwing her bag at her bed while looking at her cellphone she looked intently at THE SUGAR DADDY's profile.

"So... are you the one?" she mumbles to herself.
