Love or Instinct?

Omegaverse - An alternate universe where there are three main roles; An Alpha, An Omega, and A Beta.

Alpha - Considered as Elites. Superior in every way, they are considered as naturally gifted individuals with amazing charisma. They mainly take managerial positions in the workplace.

Beta - Considered as the closest to being humans. Typically ordinary. They could take positions that are like that of an Alpha's however that is in the most extreme cases only. They typically have associate/supervisory positions in the workplace.

Omega - Considered as inferiors. They often go into 'heat' which occurs for 7 days every month. Due to this, they are not typically employed, but since there had been an increase in the production of heat suppressants, employment has increased for them in the workplace. Despite this, there are still some instances where prejudice cannot be avoided. Thus the creation of Omega Safe places and other benefits like having a week where they can enjoy a fully paid vacation every time they get their heat.

Heat - Oestrous is one of the main defining characteristics of an Omega. This occurs every month and lasts for about a week. Within this period, Omegas release pheromones that attract Alphas and Betas. This is the only period where pregnancy can occur.

Suppressants/Pills - Medicine that can be taken to reduce the effects of a heat or stop it altogether. There are some cases where medicine will be ineffective. There are also plenty of side effects in taking them, including but not limited to, dizziness, drowsiness, lack of appetite, insomnia, and nausea. In cases where an Omega does not find a suppressant/pill that works for them, they can opt to instead have the one week paid vacation or to work in a place that has Omega Safe zones.

Pairs - It is a consensual relationship that can occur when an Alpha and Omega decides that they want to be connected by a bond. This can be established when an Alpha bites and leaves a mark on the neck/nape of an Omega. When bonded with a partner, Omegas will no longer release pheromones and will only go into heat in the presence of their exclusive pairs. Only an Alpha can break a bonded pair.

Fated Pair - A relationship that occurs when an Alpha, Beta, or Omega meets their one true match. Akin to that of a soul mate. They are drawn to their fated pairs by instinct. There are cases where a pair that was made by a bond will ultimately break up once one of them meets a fated pair. Only an Alpha can break a fated pair bond.

Mating Mark - A symbol that signifies that someone is already 'taken'. This could also help an Omega stop releasing pheromones. When an Alpha decides to abandon a bond, a mating mark can only be removed via surgery. Although the mark can be removed by surgery, the bond will still remain for Omegas. This leads to complications concerning emotional and psychological damages.
