“Take me home, huh?” Kayla muttered as she watched people come and go through the automatic sliding doors of the AlphaCorp building. She and Liam were at the grand lobby of the building, waiting for Warren to come back from his office.

They were in his car, just a few minutes after leaving the hospital when Warren received a call from his secretary. It sounded urgent, so they rushed to his office. She doesn't even know why she had been dragged with them when she can perfectly go home on her own.

She had tried convincing Liam to just let her go home, herself instead of waiting for his boss to finish handling the urgent business problem but he would not budge, claiming it was his boss’ order to wait for him and to take her home right after.

She doesn’t even understand why Warren was making it his business to take care of her. They do not even know each other. And it’s not like he was the one at fault for her injuries. Well, kind of, but there was no way he knows that. Or was she so obvious?

Come to think of it, why is he even at their office this morning? And with her manager?

She heaved a sigh of relief when her eyes caught Warren walking towards them. Finally. But her happiness was short-lived as she saw her slowly faded when she noticed he was no longer alone. Because walking right behind him was a very pretty woman wearing a garment almost too short to even be called a dress.

Really? In broad daylight? She looked like she was ready to go straight to a club. Kayla thought as she watched them walking.

When the stare of the woman landed on her, Kayla swore the woman’s left eyebrow went up a bit. The woman then gave her a once over, and finally ended it with a smirk. And as if to taunt her, the woman half-ran to catch up to Warren and threw her arm around Warren’s arm.

Kayla’s eyebrows furrowed unintentionally. So much for an urgent business problem.

“I’m sorry I won’t be able to take you home personally. I have an urgent problem to attend to.” Warren started just as he stopped in front of Kayla, the koala-ish girl still clinging to his left arm.

“I figured.” Kayla absentmindedly answered while looking at their linked arms.

“Hmm?

“I mean, it’s fine. I’m fine. I can totally go home, myself.” Kayla beamed at him. There was no way she’d ask him to take her home when he had someone obviously wanted to cling to him wherever he goes.

“Drive her home.” Warren turned to Liam who just nodded.

“No, I can just take a cab and---“ her sentence was cut short when he suddenly reached his hand towards her cheek, almost like… unconsciously?

“I’ll come find you soon.” He softly said.

“Warren!” Kayla jumped when she heard the shrill voice of the woman beside him. True enough, the woman was now shaking with fury.

Releasing an exasperated sigh, Warren let go of Kayla’s face and went back to his usual impassive state.

“Let’s go.” He said to the woman once again before he started walking, half dragging the woman who was still clinging onto him.

But before they completely went through the door, the woman turned back and glared at her.

“Wow,” Kayla muttered when they finally left.

“I’ll drive you home, miss.” Liam suddenly said, now standing beside her

“Yeah, okay.

As they were walking towards the car, she can’t help but think of what had happened. And those two women. Hayley, the one mentioned by the nice doctor, and that woman clinging to Warren.

What was it? He’ll come find her soon? When he has two women already looking for him?

'No, don’t even bother looking for me anymore!' She thought.

She had been running for a while, but she can’t see anything in front of her. She was in total darkness but she has to run. It is not safe. She had to get out of there, fast. Or she may never see her love ever again.

But where is the exit? Where should she go? Can she even save herself?

She screamed out of pain when she fell hard. But soon realized she shouldn’t have. He would hear her. He would find her. And then he’ll take her again.

She silently endured the pain when she stood up. She can’t give up now

She started walking again towards the nothingness in front of her. But she couldn’t stop. She had to make it out of there. She silently prayed, if someone was even listening, to let her see the end of it. Just let her be free.

And then she saw the glint of light in front of her. That was it. She’s saved. She just had to get there and she will be free.

She started running towards the light. The light turns blinding as she gets closer to it.

She’s saved, she knows she was.

But as she was about to cross through the light, she felt a hand grab her arm. She was whirled around and was suddenly face to face with him. He caught up to her.

She started trembling in fear. No this is not happening! She was almost there!

Just then, a sinister smile curved on his lips.

“No, please no!” she muttered, tears started streaming down her face. But he didn’t even look bothered, instead he looked like he was even enjoying her suffering.

She screamed as the darkness totally enveloped her…

Kayla woke up in sweats and panting due to the weird but disturbingly vivid dream. She could even remember every detail, except for the man’s face, again!

What was happening to her? The previous night, he dreamt of waking up beside a man. Now she dreamt about being chased by yet another man? And conveniently, she can’t remember the faces of both men.

She released an exasperated sigh as she jumped out of bed. She badly needed water as she felt very exhausted. It’s as if she did that run in real life.

She was about to go back to her room after grabbing a glass of water when she caught a glimpse of a shadow on the living room’s window. Brows furrowed, she turned again to look but was not able to see the same shadow again. Was she imagining things?

Head shaking, she went back to her room and to her bed. She must be really exhausted for her to start imagining things.

She sighed again.

Ever since she met the mysterious but extremely gorgeous Warren, she’d always felt tired. From the weird things that started happening to the even weirder dreams! Seriously, it wasn’t rational to blame everything on him but nothing had been normal since she met him!

“He is seriously bad news.” She mumbled just before closing her eyes…
