Kiss the Author

Prologue: Deleted

“WHY DON’T you just accept the truth that Amelia doesn’t love you?” Richard told Rowan when he insisted on taking Amelia home. “She’s not interested in guys like you.

“Are you sure?” Rowan smirked. “Did you know what’s on her mind?” He snatched Amelia’s bag from him. “Being the male lead doesn’t give you all the right for the female lead.

Richard knotted his forehead. “What are you saying?

Rowan shook his head. “I don’t want to tell you,” he said and started walking towards the clinic. But Richard blocked his way. “Move away—”

“I will be the one taking Amelia home!” he shouted and pushed him away. “Why don’t you just remained on where are you are on Amelia’s life, Rowan?

“Stay where I was?” he laughed. “Do you think I’ll just let you win this battle without doing something that could prove myself to her?” He shook his head. “I’m Amelia’s childhood friend. We grew up together, and we know the secrets and weaknesses of each other. How about you? You just suddenly appeared from nowhere and stood between us.

Richard scowled at him. “Do we really have to fight for this simple effort to help Amelia?” he asked, starting to get annoyed by his constant interruption. “Amelia is in the clinic now, and she needs me to take her home—”

“She’s sick and needs someone that knows all her wounds,” Rowan cut off. “And, there’s no other person that could take care of her even after this chapter ends, but only me.

“Why do you keep on saying nonsense?” Richard said frustratingly. “If you really wanted to go to Amelia, go on. But, I’ll follow you and make her choose who between us she preferred to take her home.

Rowan clenched his jaw. “Where did you get that stupid and ridiculous suggestion?” he asked and walked past him.

The ladies in their university followed them with their wide-eyes and squeals. Richard and Rowan were used to this kind of attention because they are the basketball team’s golden duo. But for Rowan, it was all fake and scripted. When they entered the clinic, they found Amelia lying on a high bed. Her eyes were closed as if she’s sleeping.

“She’s asleep,” Richard said and walked towards the bed. When he touched her hand, her eyes lifted open. “Amelia, I’m here now… I’ll take you home.

Amelia sat up straight and hugged Richard. “I thought you wouldn’t come, Richard…”

“Amelia, let’s go home,” Rowan said and pulled Amelia’s arm from Richard. But the girl swept his hand away. “Amelia—”

“Stop this, Rowan…” she said, tears falling from her eyes. “I don’t love you.

Rowan’s brows furrowed. “That’s not what you really feel, Amelia.” He stepped closer her, but before he could touch Amelia, everything stopped including him. “Darn, why do you have to end it like this?!

JOANNA put asterisks at the end of the paragraph and clicked the page break. She doesn’t understand why the story suddenly goes like this. It is not what’s written on her outlines! She caught her head and ducked on her writing table.

“I think I should delete all of it and start over again,” she said to herself, clicked ‘select all’ and deleted the entire document. “There you go. Another file on recycle bin,” she sighed. “When will I finish a manuscript?
