Chapter 3

Chapter 3

I hear the other promodizers murmuring something. I walked towards Natasha and Chynna to have a small talk with them.

"Hello," I said. That makes Natasha to stop from reading something on the magazine. Chynna, who is retouching her makeup also stop.

"Hi, Rylee," both of them replied to me.

"Did I disturb you? I can see you're doing something," I asked.

I want to look kind infront of them. It's my plan to be close to other workers inside in this shop, aside from Jaxon. This will decrease the doubt of my target.

I know that a murderer like him has the ability to recognize if someone is an assassin or a police. I'm watching his moves since yesterday and I can say that he doesn't have any doubt on me. Still, I can't let my guard down.

My father used to told me that if everything is going to well, or if the happenings are going according to plan, that can be a sign of a trap or danger coming.

"No. Not really. I'm just reading something unimportant in this magazine," Natasha answered. "Do you need anything?"

I sit in the spare chair near Chynna.

"Nothing. I just want to talk to someone. I find it hard to communicate to other workers here. It looks like they don't like me, especially the ladies," I explained.

That's a fact. I may be sugarcoating my answers sometimes, but this time I know that I'm telling the truth.

"Oh, don't mind them, Rylee," Chynna answered.

"I bet they're just jealous," Natasha added.

"Huh? Why?" I asked. "I mean, there's no reason for them to be jealous."

I always notice those ladies here in the shop looking at me, but everytime I look back at them, they're rolling their eyes and going back to their work.

At first, I didn't think about it. But the whole day yesterday passed and I can say that they're mad at me.

It makes me confuse. I'm not really doing anything, except from I got higher sales from them.

"You know what, Rylee? You're a great worker, and that's what they're jealous of. Yesterday was your first day but you got the highest sales. Aside from that," Chynna stopped talking and point something using her lips.

I look at the direction she's pointing and I saw Jaxon cleaning the glass containers. I look back at Chynna and gave her a questioning look.

"Jaxon never talked to other lady workers, except when he's going to ask something about his job. But talking about other things? No. He never did that, even to us," Chynna said.

"That's why we're shocked when he talked to you yesterday," Natasha replied.

Oh. Now I get it.

"So you're trying to say that those ladies are jealous because Jaxon talked to me?" I asked. Both of them nod at me.

"Thanks." I walked back to my place and waited for a customer to enter.

After several minutes, Mister Guevara enter the shop.

"Okay, guys. You can now have your lunch. Daniela, Kerry, and you three, you'll have your lunch at one. Okay?"

We gave him a thumbs up. I get my bag from the locker and leave the shop immediately to have my lunch at the nearby fastfood chain.

"How much is this?" I asked the cashier of the fastfood.

"5 dollars, ma'am."

I gave her my money and took my food. I wander around to look for a vacant table. There are several people eating here. No wonder. It's already 12 in the noon and most of the workers from the other shops are here.

While exploring my sight, I saw someone who caught my attention. He is eating alone in a two-people table. I walk towards him and put my tray in his table. He looked up and smiled when he saw me. I smiled back at him.

"Can I share this table with you?" I asked.

"Of course. My pleasure,", Jaxon answered.

With his answer, I sit infront of him and start eating my food.

"I guess to like fried foods," he started the conversation.

"Oh yes. These are my favorite," I answered.

That answer is an illusion. I never really liked fried foods. I'm an assassin. I won't eat foods that can put my health in danger or food that will increase my weight.

I need to act far from my real self. This is all fake. Everything will be back to normal when I already completed this mission.

"How about you? What's your favorite food?" I asked while cutting the steak.

"I love pork chop," he answered.

I eat a part of the steak while look at his eyes. I'm not surprised when he also look at my eyes. I can't deny that he's a fighter. As expected from a criminal.

"Are you enjoying the view?" I asked, seductively.

"Yeah. You're beautiful, Rylee. You're different from the other girls out there," he stated.

"Oh thank you," I acted like I'm flattered by his words even if I want to puke infront of him.

"You know what, Jaxon? I see something different from you."

"What makes you say that?" he asked.

"Hmm, I don't know. I can sense that you're smart and brave," I compliment him.

"I thank you for that."

I drink my water before talking to him again.

"By the way, where do you live?" I asked him. I know that is too straightforward but I don't have enough time to do some things.

"Just in a subdivision nearby," he answered. My question is straightforward, but his answer is too general. I can now teel that he's not giving me any trust from him.

"What subdivision?" I asked.

"Why do you want to know?" he asked.

Now, I know that he's starting to doubt me. But that's not a problem. I know how to handle this kind of things.

"I'll be honest," I lied.

"Jaxon, you're a husband material for me. I mean, you're handsome, sexy, smart, and responsible. That's what I'm looking in a man. I want to know everything about you, Jaxon. I want you to be my husband."

He smiled at me. That's not a simple smile. I can sense some genuineness in his smile but a lot of danger.

"You wanna know everything about me huh? Okay," he answered. "Let's have a dinner on Sunday, 7pm. Let's meet in the Shengyang Restaurant. I'll tell you everything about me," he added.

"Sure. I'll be there," I answered. "Gotta go," I said before leaving the table.
