Chapter Six

Client paid Matt one hundred thousand dollars to pull the plug so his children would not have to hurt anymore. They saw her lying in bed and would not respond. Every night before bed, they prayed she would wake up and be all right. Every night, he laid in bed beside Haley and watched her cry. It was devastating watching Haley cry, wanting her mother to be all right. It was hard for Client to lie there and not cry himself. He had to be strong for Haley and keep his feeling inside.

Maverick would look forward to breakfast with the family. Christiana always made it special.  He did not want to eat breakfast anymore. He missed his mom. Client wanted the children to eat breakfast together every morning. He wanted to continue with the same routine. It was becoming difficult because Maverick did not want to eat. Client could not cook like Christiana. They would have cereal and milk for breakfast every morning. Christiana would always have a big breakfast of sausage, eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes. Client wanted to hire a live-in babysitter to help with the children.

It devastated Client over the ordeal with Christiana. He did not know what hurt the most. Losing her to another man or losing her to death. Losing her to death has a negative impact on the entire family. If he would have lost her to another man, it would have only affected him. His children would still have their mom. Client was consumed with mixed emotions. How would he continue his life now? How could he help his children adjust to not having a mother? Christiana was more protective. Client encouraged the children to take chances. Client not only had to process his own grief, but he also had to be strong for his children. He did not want the children to know he was in pain. Hiding his feeling from the children allowed them to build up inside of him. Client needed time to process his grief as well. Client needed someone he could share his feeling with.

Amanda, Christiana’s sister, called Client and asked if she could spend time with the children. She wanted to be there for them. She asked if they could spend the weekend with her. Client had doubts about letting the children stay with her. He did not want the children out of his sight for one moment. He became overprotective of the children. They are all he has now. He would never forgive himself if anything happened to the children. Client asked the children if they wanted to go. Client sits in the living room with the children watching television. During a commercial he asks, “Do you want to spend the weekend with Aunt Amanda?” The children were excited to go. They always had fun with Aunt Amanda. Client called Amanda and told her the children would be happy to spend the weekend with her.

The children being at Amanda’s left Client alone with his feeling. It would a time for him to heal. Client had to accept the fact Christiana was never coming back. He had to deal with the pain of the loss. Even though things turned out the way they did, he still loved her. She was still the mother of his children. Finding out about Matt. He never would have believed that Christina would have treated him that way. She could never find anyone that loved her more than him.

Client was completely devoted to his family. He only wanted the best for them. There was a problem with the marriage, but he did not realize it. He always thought Christiana loved him. If she loved him, Matt would have never been involved. How could she it to the children? The more Client thought about Matt, he became angry. Matt had to pay for what he did to the family. He made the children suffer unnecessarily. Nobody can hurt my children and get away with it.

Amanda had planned an exciting weekend for the children. She was going to take them to Sea World. She knew spending the weekend at the theme park would take their minds off Christiana. It filled their hearts with pain. She knew they would have an enjoyable time. She wanted to see them smile and laugh again. They had been dealing with sadness for a long time. If she could make them happy even for a moment. The smile on their faces would be worth more than all the money she spent on the trip.

Amanda knew the children would love to see Sesame Street Land. The children had watched Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and the Muppets. Haley loved watching the Cookie Monster, and Maverick loved watching Big Bird. Now they could meet and talk to them. The children were excited as they ventured down Sesame Street. Amanda bought them a snack from Hooper’s store. They watched the parade with all the furry friends while eating their snack. After the parade, they stopped by Elmo’s window and started singing with him. They were happy, singing, laughing, and smiling.

Amanda took the children to the Sea Lion and Otter stadium. The Sea Lion started the performance by waving at the audience. The Sea Lion laid down and pretended to be asleep. Then it rolled over on his back and started clapping. Haley started laughing as she saw the Sea Lion playing a ball. The Lion was balancing the ball on his nose.  Maverick stated clapping as the Sea Lion was dancing with the trainer. Every time the Lion performed a trick the trainer would reward him with fish. The Lion jumped into the air and caught the fish every time. The otter took the stage next. The trainer feed the otter shrimp. The started dancing around in circles.  The otter started walking on its hind legs with the trainer. The children were amazed to see the show.

Next was the Orca Encounter, the Orcas were jumping in the water doing flips. Maverick ecstatic with happiness. He loved watching the Orcas. The Orca jumped in front of Maverick and splashing him with water. Maverick felt the cold water cover his body. He was soaked. Haley started laughing, she thought it was funny. Haley walked the glass where the Orca. The Orca kissed her. She could not wait to tell Client about being kissed by an Orca. The day at Sea World was a day the children would never forget.

Client was in the kitchen preparing lunch when the doorbell rang. He turned the stove off and answered the door. The employment agent sent a candidate for him to interview. Her name is Lisa. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and in her twenties. When Client saw her standing at the door, he was taken by her beauty. But beauty will not make her suited for the job. She did not have any children. She had never been married. She had worked at the daycare center in the town for two years. Client asked for references which she provided. Client ended the interview.

As Client considered hiring her for the job, he began to wonder how the children would fill. Was it to soon to have someone else in the house? Would they accept her as a babysitter? Would they think she was attempting to replace their mother? Client began having doubts about hiring her. He needs someone to talk to. The children are with Amanda, He calls her on the phone with to see how the children are. While on the phone he asks Amanda for her advice. Amanda did not want to discuss it with him on the phone with the children standing next to her. She told Client that she would return his call when the children are asleep.

Amanda calls Client and express her concern. She does not want Client to hire a stranger to take care of the children. Amanda asked if she could help with the children. Anytime she was not at work she would be happy to take care of the children. He did not the children to be a burden for her. They were his responsibility, and he would take care of them. Amanda begged him to please let her help. Client told Amanda he would think about it and call her back.

Client took a shower and relaxed for the evening. He watched a legal thriller on television. He began to get ideals on how to kill Matt. He could hire a hitman to do the job for him. He could shoot him and make it look like road rage. He could take him deer hunting a shoot him by accident. He could take him deep sea fishing and push him overboard and the sharks would eat him. He suddenly shook he head wondering how I could have these thoughts. He is a loving, gentle, kind, caring person, and a father. If he killed Matt, the children would be left without a mother and father. Client looked up at the ceiling and stated, Lord please forgive for the thoughts that have entered my mind. Lord, please keep Satan away from me.

Client went into the bedroom and lay in the bed. He was lonely thinking about the children not being home. They were with Amanda. The house was empty. He was alone. He was consumed with thoughts and feeling he did not want to have. He did not want to kill Matt. He was waiting for Karma to pay him back. One day he will get what is coming to him. Evil will one day come back to bite him in the ass. He needed to ask the Lord to help him forgive Matt. Forgiveness is easier said then done. Experiencing the pain, Client wanted to hate him. Now he needs to depend on the Lord to help him through this situation.

Client lay in bed tossing and turning. He tried laying in different positions to get comfortable. The house was unusually quiet.  His mind continued to race with thoughts of Matt and Christiana.  Once he dozed off to sleep, he felt only half asleep. It seems as he could only sleep for a minute then he would wake up. He could not rest. He began thinking about the children not being with him. What if anything happened to the children. A million bad thoughts ran through his mind. He could not sleep for anything. He decided to take a sleeping pill. Client took the sleeping pill and slept like a baby the rest of the night.

The next morning when Client woke up. He called Amanda to talk to the children. They were ecstatic with happiness. Haley told him about being kissed by an Orca. Client could hear the happiness in her voice. Maverick told him about the Orca splashing him with water. Client heard the children laughing for the first time in along time. They were happy. Client wished he would have been there to see the laughter. The smiles on their face. The joy in their heart. He smiled as he began to hear the children laugh. It was a magical experience for them and wished he would have been apart of it. He thanked Amanda for allowing the children to experience happiness. They had been sad for along time.

Amanda had shown Client the children could be happy again. Client needed to plan ways to spend time with the children and be happy. Client needed it as much as the children. When the children arrived home. Client meets them at the door with a hug and kiss. He missed them and wanted them to know he loves them. He invited Amanda eat dinner with them and Sunday. Amanda gladly accepted the invitation.

Client took the children to the park to play. He remembered the happy times they had playing at the park. When he arrived at the park the children started playing and having a good time. Client sat and watched them swing, run, and play. He remembered how Christiana would run and play with the children. He began to think it wasn’t a good idea to take them to the park. Everything they went Christiana was with them. Client knew he had to make the day special.
