Chapter 2

His Hands

I stood up from the bed and went over to the big mahogany closet and tried the lock, it clicked open. There were beautiful dresses inside and lots of different accessories like watches, sunglasses, bracelets, shoes and etc. I decided to take a bath and headed towards the inbuilt bathroom.

After taking a very relaxing bath and having change into a pair of loose pajamas and a white night shirt I stretched out on a bed thinking about how to get off this bloody boat. I tried to keep my eyes open but they didn't want to obey my brain and so I found myself drifting off to a deep sleep.

Someone's warm hand was resting on my forehead and I tried to shake it off. The hand went away but a soft cool and cool thing brushed against my cheek jerking me awake. I opened my eyes and wide and stared at the ceiling and then I slowly turned my head towards my left and gasped. Orland was sitting beside my bed with a red rose in his hand.

He leaned closer and grabbed my arm tugging me towards him. I started to struggle but he just silenced me with a hot and demanding kiss.

"You smell so nice..." He inhaled deeply. "Orland!" He snorted and smiled arrogantly. I could tell he wanted to say something but he was hesitating and I wondered what it was.

"What?" I snapped and he just shook his head.

I wanted to know what was going on in his mind so I asked again. "Out with it. Ashbourne." He grinned showing white shapely teeth.

"I like your bold side, Yna." He spoke softly.

The way he said my name made me fluttering my stomach more intense and I barely managed to stifle my smile.

God I hated it! Every bit of that strange feeling I hated it.

He lifted his hands and cupped my cheeks in his palms. He was staring into my eyes with that intense expression again. "I know you want to get away from me and I know that you hate me but there is a reason behind this all." With that he pulled back and looked behind him. "You can keep it here." He said to the maid who brought a tray laden with food, pointing towards the bedside table.

I recalled what he had said before I passed out on the beach last night... he said something about my father owing him such... was there more to the story my father told me about how Orland tried to take over the family business.. I looked at Orland while he was busy in filling the wine glasses. Was there more to Orland Ashbourne the he let on... I wondered silently.

Orland offered me the wine, his fingers brushing mine as he handed me the glass. "Have dinner and then I would like to give you a tour of my new yacht, wear one of those dresses in there if you like." With that he left the cabin.

I drank the wine and ate the delious meal silently. I picked a short black dress and ballet flats. I stared at my reflection in the big vanity mirror. With my shoulder length brown hair falling around my face, my full lips radiant in a red lip gloss and my dark brown eyes shining with an odd excitement about getting ready for Orland... I felt ridiculously good. My face crumpled as I tried to stop my tears... I was away from home with my father's enemy stranded on a God forsaken boat and I was feeling excitement. I was ashamed of myself. I didn't even once think about Rupert since last night. Orland was very good at keeping my mind off Rupert.

I heard a soft knock and I looked over my back. Orland was leaning against the doorframe, staring at me without breaking eye contact. He looked very fetching in his black jacket and white trousers. His hair were attractively messy making him look devastatingly handsome.

We stared at each other some more and I felt as if the air itself was becoming hot and thick between us if that was possible.

He moved away from the doorway and motioned for me to follow him. We walked silently towards the deck I started to climb the stairs leading to the upper deck, I was distracted by the sky above me so I didn't notice the small water puddle on the stairs and slipped, my body braced impact. Orland was there to hold me, his hands were around my waist and steadying me in no time. I looked at his face and said. "Thank you." But he just stared at my face barely moving. I stiffened as I felt the heat of his palms on my waist and my hands which were clutching his muscular shoulders. The moment was broken as a cool breeze made me shiver and he cursed.

"I should have known you would feel cold." He said offering me his jacket his hands brushing my bare arms. We stood near the railings watching the sea at night. The moon shining above the smooth calm surface of the sea the stars an endless blanket of small shining diamonds, the night was beautiful.

His fingers touched mine as he held my hand for the long time we stood there just enjoying the the view.. by the time I was back and alone in the cabin all I could think about was the feel of his hands as they held mine.
