A dance of demons

“Area cleared, sonar isn’t picking up anymore hostiles in this area “, Glyph spoke up in his ears.

In response, the man lobbed a white orb into the air. The ball floated ahead into the factory while rotating on a 360 arc. It scanned its surroundings with a high frequency laser and Glyph announced the report: “No further hostiles seem to be detected in the area. The target may have gone into the vents however.

Hm. The man took the tracker from the corpse of one of the FUG members and proceeded with his search. He walked through the abandoned complex, through dark hallways, staff quarters and empty chambers. Not a soul was to be seen or heard. He checked the sonar readings to find a similar result.

“Is anything the matter Sir? “, Glyph asked, sensing his facial twitches. “It just feels as if victory was too easy “. He replied while walking through a dilapidated repair shop. “Well the FUG agents certainly didn’t have it easy. Your surprise attack in front of the factory caught them off guard. It eliminated most of their forces and this was just the finishing touch “

“Hm, perhaps”, the emptiness of the complex gnawed on his senses. Shaking the feeling, he continued the track and finally came upon the fabrication chamber.

The trail ended upon a mutilated, female body lying beside a pile of rubble. He took a cautious approach, surveying for mines or ambushers. Finding none, he turned the faceless, mangled body and saw a red light emanating from her womb.

An explosion erupted from the corpse, sending him bursting through a wall and into a storage room. He struggled to get to his feet when Glyph yelled, “Missiles incoming!

Half a dozen missiles flew into the room and exploded at once. The entire factory shook from the blast as shockwaves smashed through walls and sent fire flooding across the complex. However the mark was off by a second. The man phased through them at the last moment.

With fire to his back he saw them. A group of beings emerged from the shadow. A particularly tall Croc smiled and spoke: “Boys it seems we have awoken a demon, let us show hospitality befit his rank “

Three armored Mutons appeared from the shadows. The bipedal creatures had human like skin and body structure while their height was slightly above that of the average man. That’s where the resemblance ended. The beasts each weighed over half a ton, a mountain of muscle and bone adorned with nigh impenetrable armor.

The living tanks fired at him with super heavy rifles. The man was about to raise shields but phased at the last second. A powerful plasma bolt burned through the floor where he was.

He appeared behind a drone cage when he noticed two aerial soldiers target him. They fired missiles but the muzzle caved in one and detonated, blowing the soldier to bits of gore and shattering the other nearby with shock. One missile flew at him but he forced it left and exploded right amidst Mutons.

His sense clicked and dodged to the left as an invisible blade scratched across his mask. The cloaked soldier swung for the man’s neck but he grabbed the soldier’s arm with his right and placed the left hand on the soldier’s face. A splattering of blood flew from the invisible body and human brains became visible.

A flash of light jut through the cloaked soldier and a plasma round penetrated through him and struck the man’s abdomen.

“Argh! “, he screamed in pain as the weakened round burned a bloody wound on his belly. The Mutons rose up unfazed and resumed fire at him. He jumped to the ground as powerful rounds decimated everything above him. The wound in his belly burned with pain as raw flesh skid across the ground.

The heavy rifles were forced to cool but in the time a Croc fired a minigun at him to suppress him. A few rounds got through before he could raise a shield and one round shattered a left rib. He knelt from the pain as Glyph yelled, “You have to run, your body is losing blood and might go into shock!

The killer whale however was not one to run. Grinding his teeth, he phased forward beside the Croc. The befuddled soldier jumped to dodge but the red hot power sword punctured through the armpit link of his carbon nanotube chainmail, searing a scorching wound into his shoulder.

The Mutons resumed fire but he pulled the Croc’s body in front to take the blow. The sniper fired again but the man phased through the Croc before the Mutons. His blood stained lips smiled upon seeing the shock on their faces and he pushed against them with all his psionic might.

The heat sinks on their rifles burst and spilled cryogenic liquid over the rifles while their holders were pushed on to the walls. The massive beings however were unperturbed and promptly rose up. Their bloodshot eyes burned with bloodlust as they brought out massive steel maces.

At the same time, the man heard a huge object drop behind him. He turned to see a huge halberd slicing down on him. On instinct he turned to take the blow on the flat of his blade. The impact of the blow made his bones creak and the ground beneath his feet caved in.

The huge, black Croc grinned and drove a heavy knee into his stomach. The air came out of him as he was sent flying back at the Mutons and one struck him with the mace like a baseball. The blow crushed the left ribs on his back and he was sent flying across the room. His shoulder crunched as it smashed off a steel platform and collapsed onto the ground.

“You have to run now, your body is at death’s door! “, Glyph yelled to the ears of the bloodied, broken man as he crawled up, coughing blood. Blood streamed down his right eye when he noticed the killing blow.

The sniper took the shot but the plasma capsule on the rifle jammed and exploded, covering them in fires. The sniper fell to the ground in a ball of flames.

The huge Croc took out a rocket launcher and fired a missile, not at the man but above him. A huge storage tank above dislodged and fell right on him. He was not able to dodge. A huge metal clank heralded the end of the battle.
